The coffee tasted off, and when I found a hair in my meal, I politely brought it to their attention. Unfortunately, the response was less than ideal; the staff seemed skeptical and the lack of an apology was disappointing. I ordered a falafel sandwich, which was heated to an extreme, making it inedible. I've had positive experiences here before, but this time was an exception. Perhaps it was an off day, but the overall experience prompted me to give a one-star rating. I hope they can address these issues and maintain the quality service I've come to appreciate in the past. It's a traditional coffee shop, but it does do the more modern styles of coffee. I go here when I have achey cakey pangs and a bit of time to spare. It's waitress service, so don't be in too much of a hurry. It's the kind of place where people meet up for the whole morning, not for a quick caffeine fix. They also offer light lunches and breakfast, and the good news is that breakfast is on offer till closing time.

On the ground floor all the tables are aranged at the banks of windows, and you can actually sit on the window sill. Although it can make you feel like being in zoo ( - the name itself is derived from the fact that it once was a pet shop though - ) it doesn't mean that it isn't comfortable inside. Additionally, in the summertime you are able to sit outside. Going upstairs you won't only find aquariums, but also the smoking area with some nice lounge chairs. The restrooms are here as well. The selection of beverages is very good, you'll find more than the usual stuff. I like to go here for lunch. Their menu changes daily and can be found online on their website. German only I'm afraid. The food itself has a high standard, but is surprisingly cheap. They also offer something calles Hurtigessen during lunch hours, where you get the meal of the day and an espresso for 10 Euros. Unless it takes them more than 10 minutes to serve, then it's free of charge. They also offer brunch on Sundays, which is supposed to be very good. I haven't tried it yet, but I definitely will.

But when it came to the food everything went wrong. The fruit salad came with yoghurt instead of quark, and one of the melons used wasn't ripe yet. Linie 4 was served with normal bread rolls instead of the ordered whole grain ones, which were a bit dry as well. Instead of just nutella they brought the usual selection. And why the banana slices came unpeeled I still don't understand. We arrived around 11am on a weekday, and in the beginning the place was rather empty. But this changed rather quickly and then it became very noisy. Another thing I still don't understand is why a table was occupied the whole time by documents even though no one sat down on it or ordered anything. I guess the waitresses like to keep one table to themselves, which is ok unless the place is packed, which it was when we left. I am really disappointed since I was hoping to find a nice cafe around the corner. I will give it another chance, but right now I can't give more than three stars.
