Stopped at La Luna Cafe while passing through and had a mixed experience. The staff were friendly and the service was genuinely good, but unfortunately my iced latte really missed the mark. It was extremely heavy on the milk with only a few small ice cubes, so I couldn't taste much coffee or flavor -- I ultimately didn't want to drink it. My partner ordered a hot latte and said his was decent, so maybe it was just an off drink or an off day. Still, based on this visit, we wouldn't plan to come back. read more

Plated beautifully but the narrow plate gave me pause on how to eat without it all tumbling to the table. My friends split a quesadilla and said it good and repeatable. Such a great find next to Falls Park! We ordered the caprese avocado toast and the original waffle. The original waffle comes with blueberries, strawberries, bananas and I believe cream. Tasted good but it was undercooked on the inside. The avocado toast is refreshing and flavorful. The toast was a bit soggy, but still tasty. The lattes were perfection. After waiting an hour I asked if our order was coming since I noticed an ENTIRE customer turnover while we were waiting. La Luna is a cute place that we stumbled up on Sioux Falls. Walked in to see a cute cafe set up and plenty of options on the menu. Service was great and personable. Love that! The coffees were tasty, flavorful but not too much or too little. & look at the toasts! Those are loaded up with fix-ins. I couldn't help but try two halves. Which I love you can order a half or a full (two pieces). The bread wasn't hard like most toasts are made to be so I could bite into and you can tell it was nice fresh bread. I was so happy with the amount of food and the flavors. My partner enjoyed his jungle jam toast and it was filling enough for him! Would 100% recommend coming by. This cute cafe is located near the falls on the other end of town. There are a few other restaurants and shops in this area as well. It's a nice walk from the downtown hotels. The menu is on the wall. There are no descriptions of what anything is. There is a picture menu on the wall with no descriptions either. I asked the girl working the counter, "What is in the Pollo Loco? Is it diced chicken, mayo, and..." and she pointed to the picture and said, "It looks like this." I was wanting to know what all was in it. Not necessarily what it looked like. A description of the menu items would be nice. We ordered 2 Apple Pie Waffles ($10.99 each), Pollo Loco Chicken Salad ($7.99), and a Carmel Latte ($4.65), a Cafe Latte ($4.85). The food is made fresh, served hot, very flavorful, and delicious! The lattes had a pretty design on them. My Pollo Loco was the best chicken salad I've ever had. My husband and son really liked their Apple Pie Waffles, and they said it tasted just like Apple Pie! We stopped in on a blustery rainy day at this gem of a shop. My lady and I were probably the first guests of the day and had really good cold brew coffee. I waited but it soon became clear they didn't see my beloved's order so we asked the counter person and sure enough it was missed. A few minutes later her apple pie waffle arrived and we dined in breakfast silence until I answered her inevitable question "how is it to you chef?" I wanted to love it and the flavor was nice and perfect for fall. Yet the waffle itself was barely done in the middle as if the waffle iron needed more time to pre heat or maybe 45 more seconds. Having the apple pie inside hers was the same and we ate most of them but it could have been so much more special. A crispy pizza loaded with bacon, cheese and yumminess, topped with an egg (forgot to snap a pic!) and served with a side of marinara. It was spot on for a savory treat. On our visit to Sioux Falls we stumbled across La Luna Cafe by doing the typical Yelp search. All five stars so we figured we'd give it a shot. We actually were only looking for a morning coffee and chai, but found the Belgian waffle offerings to tempting to pass up. Very modern decor and comfortable feel. The waffles were not the traditional hard waffle, rather the softer Americanized version. They were however perfectly shaped and decorated with fruit toppings. The waffles were reasonably priced. I went with a waffle combo which includes eggs and two slices of bacon for $16. For that price I was hoping for a few more eggs and perhaps a third slice of bacon. Particularly the bacon because I think it was the best restaurant prepared bacon I've ever had. As a bonus for us we found La Luna is conveniently located across the street from Falls Park and the historic waterfall. We were able to walk from La Luna to enjoy the park. We enjoyed our visit to Sioux Falls and La Luna should be thought of as an asset to the community. read more

We were visiting Sioux Falls for a family vacation and wanted to try some local food instead of the free hotel breakfast, so found this place on Yelp. First impression was the place was clean and had beautiful artwork. Pretty simple menu, and okay prices. Went to put my order in and the guy at the register was okay, but didn't really go out of his way to be friendly. He acted like he was doing us a favor by taking our order. I messed up the way I ordered the horchata latte, and he just kind of glared at me. When the food came out, the woman kind of body the plate to the table and trotted off. No pleasantries, just business. As for taste, the latte was good, and all of us enjoyed our waffles, which is why I gave the place 4 stars I can overlook sub-par service for good food. Would I go back here? Meh! If I lived in Sioux Falls, I would go here if someone wanted to meet up here, but I wouldn't actively go here on my own or suggest it, but everyone's different. read more

We were in Sioux Falls overnight on our way back to Milwaukee. In the morning, we wanted to eat breakfast near Falls Park because we wanted to stop there before leaving. Yelp helped us find La Luna café Bottom line- I'm glad this place was recommended because we had a wonderful breakfast The café is located in a newer little business district near Falls Park and there seems to be quite a bit of street parking. The café has a clean, bright atmosphere and the staff was very kind. I had the Horchata waffle and it was very delicious, moist and filling. My husband and daughter had the classic Belgian which comes loaded with fruit and A dollop of whipped cream on top. That waffle was also tasty but I did prefer the Horchata. My other daughter had the Caprese avocado toast which you can get either as a "half moon" (1 slice) or a "full moon" (2 slices). She said it was quite delicious and it was loaded with tomatoes and mozzarella cheese, a sprinkling of basil and then a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. We loved Sioux Falls and hope to be back - and will definitely come back to La Luna Cafe. read more

Cute, little coffee shop in downtown Sioux Falls! My husband and I stopped here as we were passing through town. Modern interior with plenty of seating and local art on the walls. They have a variety of waffles and toasts for breakfast as well as numerous espresso drinks. Staff was very friendly and a little quiet. Both toasts we got (jungle jam and green eggs and ham), were filling and piled high with toppings. The pumpkin spice latte I got was lighter tasting like it was seasoned with actual spices and not a heavy sauce so the espresso really shined through. The chai my husband got was spiced nicely. My fiancee and I visited this establishment for the first time on Saturday. We loved it. Leaving aside that it's a cool downtown location with genuinely appealing art on display, with a cool vibe, etc., the dish Susan and I both ordered that first time, the Yogurt Fruit Bowl (or whatever) was SPECTACULARLY delicious. It consisted of plain yogurt, honey, granola, bananas, blueberries, and sliced strawberries...and was just about as delicious as any iteration of said ingredients could likely be. I was a little skeptical when it arrived (as I often don't enjoy restaurant bananas, or blueberries), but mea freakin' culpa, that was literally one of the most enjoyable breakfasts of my life. The bananas and the blueberries were both of exceptional quality (while the strawberries were perhaps "only" VERY GOOD), and the honey used as a drizzle was unquestionably the best honey I have ever had (and I was born in 1970, so I've been around a bit.) Susan loved the dish just as much as I did, and we also both had the Pumpkin Spice Latte (which we appreciated was still being offered in the post-Autumnal present), and which we also both thought was excellent. Later that same day, I stopped by a 2nd time, and had just a black, drip coffee. It was superb. Then we visited a 2nd (or 3rd, for yours truly) time on Monday, and I had the same dish a 2nd time, and it was just as good as it had been on Saturday (which is to say...magnificent.) Susan ordered the Belgian Waffle w/Eggs & Bacon Combo. She specifically indicated that the scrambled eggs were perhaps the best she'd ever had at any restaurant in her entire life (she was born in 1973.) I agreed they were excellent, and her bacon looked GREAT...but alas, she would not part with any of THAT. She did confirm that the looks were not deceiving in this case. The waffle itself was one of the best I have ever tasted within the context of commercial preparation (I make a pretty good waffle my own darn self, as it so happens.) Susan enjoyed the Pumpkin Spice Latte so much, she had it a 2nd time. I went with the La Luna Latte, which is a sort of white chocolate & raspberry concoction of which I now approve most heartily. Susan and I had a discussion about whether this place had taken Queen City Bakery's spot in our heart, as our favorite downtown breakfast joint...and we're both leaning in favor of the thesis that it has done exactly that.
