All that to say I was super intimidated to take the plunge now, in my late 30s. I started with a Saturday afternoon line dancing workshop. I was immediately put at ease by the friendliness and the diversity of ages, sizes, and shapes of people that I found taking the class with me. After my wonderful experience at the workshop, I signed up for beginning modern jazz. Tracey Durbin is an amazing teacher! I was up-front with her about my lack of experience and nervousness. She put me at ease by reminding me that everyone is here to have fun, period. I have now signed up for my second session and I have no plans to stop!

You can take a dance technique class or a movement/fitness class. I've taken an eight-week hour-long modern and contemporary. I've also taken the dancehall workshop (one three-hour class) which was high-energy and a lot of fun. Most of the adult classes were at night, which was great to attend after work. (This was before COVID-19, of course.) Now classes are virtual. I recently signed up for a virtual mediation class that will take place for four weeks during my lunch break -- perfect while I'm working from home. One thing to know before going is they only accept cash. Overall I loved The Barn Dance and can't wait to go again.

Whatever you do, do NOT hire this DJ! Wesley was my only vendor that was absolutely awful. He…read moreplayed multiple songs off of our do not play list, he only played about half (13/18) of the songs we gave him to play, and he repeatedly tried to make our reception all about himself. I told him specifically no line dancing, but the second song of the reception he played the conga line. I tried to make the best of it and being the bride I went to the front. But no Wesley got out of the booth, mic in hand, and cut me off to be the leader of the conga line. We told him specifically we did not want him to be on the mic at all. All of our friends are 20s-30s, know how to dance, and we didn't need any announcements. He repeatedly ignored that, came out on the dance floor with the mic, trying to tell our company how to dance. He told my extended family that they couldn't sit in the front 2 rows of our ceremony because they were for "immediate family members." But my immediate family was in the wedding party, so in all of our ceremony pictures it looks empty except for my parents sitting by themselves. He also spoke very rude and condescendingly to multiple guests and family members of me and my husbands. He played Mambo number 5 a total of 2.5 times! I had a special song I wanted the last reception song to be, but he ended it with a different song, and played the song I wanted as he ordered people to go outside for the exit. I apologize for this rant, but I waited months to write this review to let my emotions calm down from how hurt I was. I didn't want this happening to another bride! Instead of offering an apology or any sort of refund, all Wesley did was give me a bunch of excuses as to why he did what he did. Do NOT trust this man. He will RUIN your wedding!

Prior to the wedding my husband and I took dance lessons from him and they were great! Wes helped us pick up new dance moves for our first dance and we wow-ed ourselves as well as our friends and family! Wes even did a mini-dance lesson during cocktail hour for interested guests - definitely a hit with our friends! He kept everyone interested in dancing and took song requests. Lighting and sound equipment he brings are professional and top of the line. Sound quality was perfect! We've heard so many wonderful comments from our guests about the DJ and music at our wedding.
