Walked in asking for an odd & relatively difficult tattoo to be placed inside a small tattoo. They had open chairs & artists were available but they denied my request - because my tattoo was too new and hadn't healed enough. This is by far my favorite tattoo shop, not only for the amazing artists that work here, but also for the area it's located in. Prior to moving to Oregon, I would drive up from SoCal specifically to see Robert and Jason. Not only are they good people, but it's like a home away from home when you are there. Got a tattoo from Robert back at the San Diego tattoo con, and he was such a rad dude. I had been looking to get a small tattoo on the back of my neck since I couldn't afford any big tattoos. He saw my cousin and I wandering the con and he stopped us to help out. He wanted to hear what we wanted for a tattoo so he could point us in the right direction, and when I showed him my super tiny tattoo he went "hey I'm not tatting today but I can definitely do that since it's small and won't take too much time" he then gave me a quote and told me to look around more and see if I liked anyone more. After seeing every booth I decided he was my favorite so I made my way back to his booth. The tattoo didn't take long and it actually didn't hurt at all. I was looking to get a 25 year old tattoo touched up and was searching for an artist. I had already booked someone for the following day when I happened upon my fabulous artist from ten years prior who had left the area. I wasn't sure that I wanted to make the appointment I had already set up so I "Facebook'd" a friend and asked about the artist from ten years ago, and she mentioned that Robert was now at Tried and True. I immediately called over there to see if I could come by to discuss the touch up. When I walked in, I was greeted right away by staff. Robert was right there and said hello, and not only did all the staff join in conversation, but the other patrons were all very friendly and engaging. I recalled the tattoo Robert had done for me ten years prior, showed it to him, and he wanted me to show the tattoo to his other artist in the studio, which I was happy to do (I think he was still proud of his work - I'm still proud of it!) I came in the next day, and he had me in and out in two hours. He is a professional, makes you feel at home, and his staff is fun and keeps you laughing. I think I would go there just to hang out if they would have me just to watch the art be drawn up or to be a fly on the wall. All I can say is you get what you pay for (excellence - fine lines, great shadowing, etc.), so I will be back for the next best artwork on my thigh or elsewhere! Thanks again, Robert! I've had several pieces done by the artists here but Ronnie is my favorite! He's done two of my tattoos and redid two existing tattoos including one I got from another artist elsewhere that needed it. It was the shop's holiday specials that originally grabbed me. They have specials such as $14 Valentine's Day tats, $13 Friday the 13th tats and $31 Halloween tats. Can't beat those prices! On the special days, the guys work all day and very late producing quality work the whole time. Even for regular work on non-special days their prices are very reasonable. So many of my friends go to T & T because the work and prices just can't be beat! Make sure to like them on Facebook to know when upcoming specials are! Their customer service is great. They work with your schedule as much as possible. Ronnie even called me when he had a cancellation to get me in sooner than the appointment I had made. Most of the time, they can do work the same day that you walk-in. Ronnie is hands down a true artist. He makes sure that you get exactly what you want but also offers his professional opinion on options that could improve the tattoo. He spends the time necessary before the actual tattooing begins to make sure you're both on the same page with the design and coloring. With the tattoos he's redone for me, they've come out even better than the first time and look like what I WISH I had done initially! Ronnie is very knowledgeable, experienced, courteous and humble. I love his technique. Every time Ronnie makes sure I'm as comfortable as possible and if any touchups are needed, he makes sure to get me in as soon as possible after healing so I'm 100% satisfied. The shop is health department inspected and is very clean. The atmosphere is great and they play music or pop in a movie for you to watch while you're being tattooed. Everyone is so nice and friendly that works there! I wouldn't change a thing about T & T! Eventually we want to move out of this area, but getting tattooed by Ronnie at Tried and True is the ONLY option for me. I love his work and will continue to be a repeat customer regardless of driving distance. They also have a great referral program too. Robert did my sleeve, and he was nothing but nice and courteous about meeting up and discussing the work he was about to perform, got some sketches in a timely matter, he understood the whole theme i was going for and busted it out and was totally beyond my expectation. i've even had people come ask me where i got it from cause the lines were "clean" and always told them that my guy was from a small town up north and i would highly recommend the place....i think the person below me maybe just had a bad day or something cause i've known robert from my tattoos for awhile now and everytime i call to discuss with him my next project he's always more then willing to figure something out or get me something that i'm looking for.
