She was super impressed with this delicious find I found in a place I knew nothing about. The service was excellent and they were so thoughtful and efficient. My favorite experience about this place is the option to choose black or white truffles! White truffles being the more luxurious option next time I'm doing it! To be honest I cannot put into words how the food taste I believe the pictures speak for themselves. The outside decor was the cutest entrance I think I have ever seen at a restaurant but hey we are in Paris! I ordered delicious escargot ( my favorite French dish!) a lovely lobster risotto with black truffles that were sliced to thin perfection. My partner had duck covered in black truffles and mashed potatoes covered in black truffles as well. We ordered a lovely red French bottle of wine. Everything was just as exquisite as this place was. I made a reservation here over a month in advance of my visit to Paris. A week before I arrived, I received an email asking me to reconfirm the reservation. I reconfirmed as requested and received an email confirmation. When I arrived at the restaurant tonight, I was greeted by a sign on the door saying that the restaurant was closed until August 25 due to vacation. Words can't describe how upset I was. If I had known in advance, I could've made another reservation somewhere else. The night was basically ruined since all of the other places in the area were booked. Why would they let people make reservations and then reconfirm them if they knew they were going to be closed for vacation? ? Such a complete lack of professionalism. Simply unbelievable! **This review is for the La Maison de la Truffe location at the Galeries Lafayette Le Gourmet** We came here for lunch while shopping at the Galeries Lafayette department stores because I love all things truffle. It was pretty busy when we sat down but luckily we did not have to wait long and the food came out very quickly. The seats were arranged to surround the kitchen in the center so we got to see the cooks prepare the meal in front of us which really added to the experience. I got the fettuccini and I was very satisfied with the execution. It was a good balance of the umami flavor from the sliced truffle and the cheese from the truffle cream, and a little salt, all coated in the fettuccini pasta. 5/5. Unfortunately, the risotto was a miss for my mom who ordered it. It was way too salty to a point that after a few bites it was too overwhelming to consume more. 2/5. My absolutely favorite Restaurant in Paris. I'm a bit of a Truffle snob, and this place delivers! Well it better... After all, the translation of the name is 'The House of Truffle'. Just start by walking in the door and being enveloped by the luxurious scent of fresh truffle. Walk past the display case exhibiting the freshest truffles from France and Italy, as well as truffle infused goodies. This is my go to place for my truffle fix, so it's no surprise that I visit 2-3 times a week when I'm in town. The seared Foie Gras is AMAZING! As is the truffle pizza. And the Lobster Risotto. The Filet Mignon is one of the better you'll find in town. And for desert look no further than the Truffle Cheesecake! I'm such a regular, they make a special dish for me they call 'Rock Risotto'. It's creamy Risotto with steamed Alaskan King Crab Legs and fresh seasonal Truffle shaved on top. Sounds decadent doesn't it? Cause it is! It's incredibly delicious and mouthwatering. Service is unbeatable. And is what you'd expect from a high end restaurant. Staff and management could not be any nicer and professional. If you are looking for a nice night out with an incredible meal, Maison de la Truffe has you covered! We ended up here because we saw their other restaurant in front of the steak frites place (its now closed due to the pandemic). We love truffles so of course we had to check this place out. We got the black truffles that are more expensive because they are crispier and had to be preserved according to our super nice waiter. We kinda wonder if the seasonal truffles would have been tastier. We will have to come back another day to try them out. So on to the food : Starter: they gave us two tiny crustinis with delicious truffled butter. There wasn't enough bread for the truffled butter so I just put a lot on each bite of the bread. They sell it at the store as well. Later on, we got truffled olive oil with bread... It was late in the night and the bread was a little stale and the truffle oil wasn't as tasty as I expected it to be. Just tasted like normal olive oil but smelled like truffles. BRIE & TRUFFLE PIZZA - cheesy goodness. It has brie and their rocket salad which is arugula. I loved it but it was too cheesy for my husband. Be forewarned though that it's very filling so we barely had enough room in our stomachs for our other dishes. It's a good main dish and shareable as well. It was such a fun place to see the truffles ( inside and outside the front of the store) and view some truffle products they had. The staff was excellent in helping us pick out what to purchase. Not sure if it was due to our race or because they had a particular "dress" code for 12 o'clock or possibly a combination of both. The truffle was minimal and wasn't all that impressive - we ordered the more expensive option which was the Black Truffle, but again not so impressive. We have never been presented with a credit card machine that asked for a TiP in Europe.. this was the first time at this restaurant and I have to wonder if it is because they knew we were American or if all customers are presented with the same option. Regardless, I think this was the last time we dine here. All other visits we paid the price on the check without being asked for a Tip. I really appreciate their honesty instead of trying to take advantage of tourists. Yesterday when we were dining at Robuchon in Champs Elysee, when the party next to us asked if tips are included, the waiter said tips are optional(which is true, but it implies that it's not included in the price). Anyway, back to this amazing place. We were served with bread with olive oil infused with black truffle. It's so good! We then ordered: - fettucine with foie gras and black truffle(good, but the black truffle is not as strong as we thought it would be) - rissotto with bay shrimp and seasonal truffle(very good!) - cheesecake(with truffle! Sooo good! You can actually taste the truffle in th cheesecake!) They also sell a lot of truffle related items(honey, butter, salt, mayo, etc). We'll definitely come back when we're in town. Easy to make reservations online. They also have a little boutique where you can get samples and purchase some tasty truffle souvenirs either before or after your meal. Children are allowed in the restaurant. However, if you have a stroller they will ask you to leave it in the front. This will be a decadent meal. I could have just stuffed myself with this alone and left happy. We had the beef tartare with black truffle and a pizza with black truffle to share for the table. The beef tartare was light and tasty and the meat quality was very nice. The pizza was good. It's definitely not the best pizza I had but it's pretty hard to mess up flour, sauce and cheese with truffles. I ordered an asparagus salad with an egg with black truffle. I figured the meal would be pretty heavy overall and I wanted something lighter since I knew I would be taking bites out of my husband's fettuccine. The fettuccine is luxurious and extremely heavy. I recommend sharing this dish otherwise you are going to have to be rolled out of the restaurant. Even if you share this dish you're still going to feel heavy. And of course we had to order the pasta dish with the foie gras. It was rich, creamy and the black truffles shaved on top just made it over the top luxurious. Almost all of the items in the menu give you the option of either white truffle, black truffle or the seasonal truffle to be shaved on top. There are servers that speak English, they do offer an English menu and the servers will answer any questions you have. They have a tasting menu or you can order an entree. My husband and I loved the truffle dinner we had at the Maison de la Truffe on Marbeuf, that we wanted to also experience the Madeleine location. We easily made a reservation online to dine on our very last night in Paris and added a seat by the window to our request. When arriving, we weren't able to sit by the window, which was unfortunate since we added it to our reservation request. As far as the restaurant goes, it's smaller and less romantic than the Marbeuf location. It was extremely tight and it just didn't have the same gorgeous appeal as on Marbeuf. It took a very long time for our waiter to ask if we wanted to order drinks, and knowing it was our last night in Paris, we wanted our night to be special, so we flagged the waiter down. There was too much beauty in the city of Paris to sit at a cold table with nothing to drink and wishful thinking of us choosing the Madeleine location as our last night for dinner. Once we finally got our bottle of wine, we received our split order of the Rock Salad. We chose to have this salad without truffles since we had already had the salad with truffles on a previous night and didn't find it necessary. The salad was perfect and was a great starter for our night after indulging in the bread and truffle oil. For our entrées, we ordered the Tagliatelle with Truffle Cream and Black Truffles. My husband ordered Foie Gras to go along with his while I opted to have mine as is. The meal was heavenly. You can't go wrong whether you order the Fois Gras to accompany it or not, but if you're really into Foie Gras, I highly recommend it, as it brought a lot more flavor to the already lovely dish. For dessert, we wanted the Café Madeleine's, but the restaurant was out. So, we ordered two Cheesecakes instead, which were ok. The strawberry compote was extremely sweet and overpowered the cheesecake itself. I made a special order of the black truffles on the pasta. Everything came at once and my pasta, Of course, didn't have the black truffles. Another downside, everything didn't taste good. The beef carpaccio had way too much thick cut cheese and the beef was way too salty. The pasta just felt like it was tossed with butter. The fish was so expensive and salty and wasn't special at all. The fish tartare didn't taste like anything even with truffles on it. The foi gras was good but that's it. The truffles on everything felt like it's been sitting in water and had no taste at all! The service was only okay. The food server seemed to have bad attitude when he found out were sharing everything. Also, no tap water option! We ended up spending 27 euros on 3 bottles of water. After much discussion we decided to return the next day for a late lunch in their adjoining dining room. What a treat! Again, our server was very helpful guiding us not to overdo it! I had made reservations in advance and was really hoping for some black truffles but that wasn't to be. Unfortunately, we came here and to France a few weeks before the truffle season (poor foresight on our part I suppose). Anyhow, I ordered the risotto with shaved summer truffles and my boyfriend ordered the ravioli stuffed with truffle. Both our food was mediocre at best and over priced. A word on summer truffles. I have had fresh black truffles before and there is nothing in the world better than fresh black truffles. Summer truffles on the other hand are very mild and chewy. If I was to give an analogy, I would say it's like comparing the most tender wagyu beef with beef crumbles that are added in a Taco Bell burrito and I am not exaggerating. (I know, interesting analogy for a vegetarian you must be thinking - but I'm surrounded my meat eaters!) My recommendation - only come here if you are coming in truffle season and even then I would recommend trying some other places in the city. This place is way too overpriced. read more
