    Cream of celery soup

We found this place when our cab dropped us off at the wrong place. A busy lunch crowd , we had to wait a few minutes and I'm so glad we did! The food was amazing. Celery soup , so creamy, a hummus appetizer that blew my mind, my daughter had an excellent cheeseburger. Staff was so nice , spoke better English than I do, lol. I've recommended this place several times to other travelers

La Boîte aux Lettres, which translates to "the mailbox," is in such a charming location with a wonderful, helpful, and good-looking staff (bonus!). The small dining room is filled with books and closely clustered tables with an open-ish kitchen. I made a reservation but it didn't seem necessary for lunchtime, at least on this particular day. I absolutely love that they have magnets under the table to hold the silverware down! What a cool idea! We both opted for the "lunch formula" of an appetizer and main dish. We started with the "For the Undecided," a sampler of soup, salad, and pork pâté. The green pea soup was excellent, with a tiny dollop of crème fraîche to garnish and tiny fresh peas suspended within. The salad was also lovely, a combination of arugula, fresh mozzarella, and fresh and dried tomatoes all dressed with balsamic (it was supposed to also have shaved Parmesan but that seemed to be missing). The pâté was delightful, served with a small bit of caramelized onions and a cornichon. The fresh sliced baguette served on the side was perfect with this. We enjoyed our meal with a 1/4 bottle of Chardonnay from Burgundy. It was crisp and light, and nicely complimented our meal. My mom's pollack with eggplant caviar and sautéed veggies was a winning dish! It was perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth tender! My croque madame was perfection, one of the best versions I've ever had. A single slice of bread with ham and gruyére, it wasn't too heavy, and featured an insanely crispy bread and a perfectly fried egg. Swoon! The fries and salad were good too, adding a fresh element to a heavy dish. I would absolutely hands down return here on any future trip to Paris! Try and stop me!

We had the most amazing lunch here. It was pouring rain and we just went in without much forethought. It was cozy and warm, servers was so friendly and the food was delicious.

A well deserved 5-star rating and the only one I have handed out in Paris thus far. Great energy, limited seating, no pretenses. The menu is written on a chalkboard and there are is small number of options that all sound delicious. We ordered the country pate for a starter, my husband selected the piece du bouchon while I ordered the dish of the day, a Thai chicken salad. The food absolutely blew our mind. Perfect portions, cooked to perfection, packed with flavor. THIS is what we have been searching for in Paris! Take your fancy overpriced 2 and 3 star places - this is food perfection.

Hands down the best meal we've had in Paris ( & we've eaten a lot ) ! Intimate cafe with great customer service. We had this mushroom creamy appetizer, beef bourguignon & risotto. Dessert was equivalent to french toast with caramel sauce ...delicious & mouth-watering! Looking forward to going back. Another bonus is that it's a bit away from the main drag of other restaurants in town. Such a treat!

Back when I was in high school, one of my English teachers told me that the beautiful opening montage of the city in the movie Midnight in Paris would make me yearn for Paris. Rewatching the movie now, however, makes me wish I were back at this restaurant. I would eat here every day for the rest of my life if I could. It's a little off the beaten path, but that's all part of the experience, as you'll get to walk through some of Montmartre's most visually stunning cobblestone streets. La Boîte Aux Lettres is tucked away in more of a residential area, so you'll get to feel like a real Parisian (who doesn't get harassed by scammers around the Sacré-Cœur!). In fact, I think most of the other diners were locals. The restaurant's coziness is one of its greatest strengths. This comes across in the welcoming decor (from the dining area to the bathroom, you'll feel like you're visiting a close friend, who just so happens to have impeccable taste in interior design) and the service (our friendly server brought over a small chalkboard menu and explained each dish in fluent English). We had no complaints about our lunch, but the real highlight came at the end of the meal when our dessert sampler arrived. The flourless chocolate cake? Delicious. The pain perdu with caramel? Delectable. But the tiramisu with Oreos? Life-changing.

When I knew I was going to explore Montmarte I wanted to find a good spot for lunch. I definitely hit the jackpot here! I came in for lunch and I did not have a reservation. After a little wait I was able to get a table in this cozy restaurant. The staff here is amazing! Luca went through the entire menu and I went with his favorites and he did not steer me wrong. I had the beet salad to start followed by the Veal. The beef with foie gras looked amazing, but since I had steak last night for dinner and I wanted a light lunch, I went with the veal. It was so tender and filled with flavor. I am going to try and make it back here for dinner before I leave for the beef. Another Yelp winner! Oh so good.

**BEST TIRAMISU IN MONTMARTRE** Ate here twice because it was so friendly and reasonably-priced. AMBIANCE ========= Cozy and charming. A bit casual for lunch, a bit dressy for dinner. Specials on the black board. FOOD ===== **CARTE DU MIDI (2 items)** Connie and I shared the appetizer and dessert to keep the special-priced menu of $30USD per person. TERRINE DE CAMPAGNE Very generous with 2 slabs and some pickles. Slapped it on the provided fresh baguettes and it was heaven. RATING: 5/5 STEAK AND FRITES The steak was good, but not great. Wished it was more tender. Also had better frites, but overall, it wasn't bad. RATING: 3.5/5 TIRAMISU SPECULOOS Favorite tasting tiramisu of all-time. The flavor, the texture, perfect. RATING: 5/5 PRO TIPS ======== Make advance reservations or come by at 6PM to avoid the 8PM rush. BYOB = 5 euros corkage OVERALL ======== Very reasonably-priced lunch and dinner. Great for small groups or couples. Should be 2 euro sign and not 3 as indicated. HIGHLY RECOMMEND in the Montmartre area.

Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

Throughout our trip from Provence, Basque Country and Paris, I joked that they must hate me for ordering my beef med b/c it was so much tougher compared to our beef. Anyway, it's just different. Our server spoke English fluently and was such a hoot...full of personality & joy. Per his recommendation, we ordered it med-rare b/c it continues cooking table side on the sizzling platter. We ate too much. It's a lot of food to split the cote de boeuf btn two. Comes with very good chubby fries and 3 sauces. TBH, I didn't love the sauces. Luckily we walked 6miles that day and skipped lunch. Started with a garden salad, but sadly we had no room for dessert. Reservations via email. We managed to get a 9pm reso, last minute, I bet due to a cancellation. They have 2seatings...6pm & 9pm.

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. The free Cote du Rhône glass was appreciated for check-in! Our server had his head permanently at a 30 degree angle, staring at his mobile. Tis a shame. But he was friendly ( oh, and easy on the eyes). I liked the quiet location out of the chaotic fray, like up the street, with all its smoking and volume. PS This is lover's type of location.
