We stumbled upon this restaurant wandering our hotel neighborhood, and before going in we checked the reviews. I had mixed feelings given some of the reviews, but the scent was so enticing that we decided to give it a go. And I'm so glad we did! It's ALL about the truffle here. The truffle olive oil had such an intoxicating aroma and delicious taste that I had to stop myself with the bread and the oil and the "more bread" and the "more oil". I came back the next day to buy a few bottles to share with folks at home. The tagliatelle with truffle was, of course, amazing. My husband went the sans truffle route and ordered the ray fish with herbed mashed potatoes. He really enjoyed it and said it reminded him of his mother's French cooking growing up. Really delicious! You must love truffles though. The aroma is overpowering when you walk in the door, but if you like truffles it wonderful . It's pretty pricey but definitely a fun splurge. We had the steak and pasta and it was all delicious. We did order a pasta with red sauce without truffles for our daughter but were not impressed with it and it was still pricey even though no truffles. It has a nice atmosphere. We had the tasting menu, very good food with a lot of truffle. They do not skimp! We both love truffle and by the end of it we were truffled out (lol). The plain vanilla ice cream dessert was welcoming. My only wish would have been to have the Brie truffle cheese (which is given to you right before dessert) is to offer it at the beginning with the bread because you get so full during the tasting menu.. I was so full I didn't get to enjoy half of the Brie frommage, which was a bummer bc it was amazing... (had to force myself to eat even half of it bc I was no longer hungry...). This restaurant is really amazing. There are 2 locations in Paris and I have been to both. I prefer the La Madeline location. The food is fantastic...if you are a truffle fan and the service was AMAZING. The staff was super accommodating and friendly even for us Americans trying to speak French . They also have a very nice shop in which you can by many different truffle items. The olive oil and the butter are a must!!! The chips are a great little snack as well. You can also buy truffles, but I was worried about customs. read more

If you like truffles the food is AMAZING; but I LOVE TRUFFLE EVERYTHING. We had the option of summer seasonal truffles or noir or black truffles. I prefer the noir truffle. We ordered both the tuna tartar and carpaccio for lunch. They were both excellent. I regret not ordering a pasta dish because the smell and look of my neighbors plates were decadent. I will definitely return for dinner to try more of their delicacies and pasta dishes where the flavor of truffles truly come to life. (Shop Only) This is a fabulous shop with a great selection of truffles, foie gras, terrines, and pâtés to bring back home for gifts. They also have a house specialty black truffle Madeline pastries which are very popular so if you want to grab a box, come early in the morning because they sell out pretty quickly. Their products also come on travel sizes and packaged securely so it can pass customs which is a big plus. They do offer gift wrapping as well if you ask. The service is pretty decent but you need to have a relative idea of what you want, they tend to be slightly impatient and may not be willing to explain at length what everything is or how it tastes etc. read more

If you fancy yourself a fan of the culinary truffle then I bring good news - you just found your mecca. Make pilgrimage with much haste. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? There are few things I love more than when a restaurant fully embraces their culinary calling, and I'll strongly argue that no restaurant I've been to this year does a better job of this than La Maison de la Truffe, the focal truffle gathering since the early 20th century. Right from the get-go you're thrown into a whole new world of truffle goods ranging from the traditional oils to more elaborate mixes of fois gras, and garnishes. Once you've decided that yes, you should very much like to dine here, the service is kicked up to a whole new level, with professional staff and a quaint atmosphere that will make absolute certain that you leave satisfied and then some. I strolled in on a Saturday afternoon and waited only 20 or so minutes for a table, which was surprising considering there's maybe only seating for 20 people total. I imagine this is very much not the case when dinner time rolls around. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? You're exposed to a whole spectrum of menu items and associated prices when you pop open the menu at La Maison de la Truffe, so you can either get away with a great dish on the cheap or splurge a bit with some of the triple-digit offerings. I decided to balance things a bit, and on the recommendation of the server decided to go with the Tagliatelle instead of the Risotto with shavings of the mid-tier black truffle. The damage came to only €42, which I was more than happy to pay given the quality of the dish and the quantity of the truffles. Had I instead gone with the seasonal truffles I would have paid only €27, which is more than reasonable. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? What a dish. I'll admit, this wasn't quite as good as the Truffle Pasta dish I had at all-time favorite Parisian restaurant East Mamma (http://www.yelp.com/biz/east-mamma-paris-5?hrid=YIdOJLRr-okhKbBPCT7B7A&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) ), but it was certainly worthy of five-star praise. I didn't get a chance to eat here - but they had some killer take-away sandwiches for a reasonable price. Only available on weekdays though. What I did walk away with was a delicious parmesan truffle cream spread! They had a four items to sample when I was there - a white olive oil, black olive oil, truffle tapenade, and the parmesan truffle cream. While the truffle oils are more aromatic than the usual, it still just tastes like oil in the end. But the parmesan truffle cream is addictive - I regret not buying extra jars! Stopped by for a "special dinner event," all including truffles!! Started with a gratinee a la truffle noire melansporum!! Then next was French onion soup with truffle oil...definitely a little different...then a big platter of salad and charcuteries-including ham and pepperoni...also had a cheese heating gadget that you melt cheese on and scrape it off...first time and good experience!! If you love truffle and charcuterie and cheese you will love this...for me I am not a big cheese person...nor am I a big charcuterie person...so I barely touched anything...so bad "special" night for me. I was in last evening for dinner with my three kids and we had what I would consider one of the best meals I have had in Europe. The service was a little slow with one waiter taking care of the entire restaurant, but he kept up admirably. No one expected to be "in and out" dining in a top shelf French restaurant, so we were fine waiting a bit for our courses to come out. The food was AMAZING starting with the bread and truffle oil. We had the cheese and chicken starters for the table and it was hard to decide which was more delicious. Between the three of us we had the ravioli, lobster risotto, tagliatelle and the grande dame... filet minon w fois gras and black truffle. It's impossible to say which was better than the other as everything comes down to personal taste but let me say that I don't believe that any of the dishes could have been prepared more perfectly. We had an opportunity to spend a little time with the maitre'd (who coincidentally was just recently working in Los Angeles near a club where I stay downtown) and he was nice enough to show my daughter some truffles, explained the pricing and weighed them for us to give her some perspective on our meal. The food was good and the service was good as well but we felt as though the truffles didn't have much flavor, we paid extra for the black truffles and they really didn't have much truffle flavor. Even eating them alone we could hardly taste them. Our whole group loves truffles and was a little disappointed with the lack of truffle flavor. On another note if you want meat or veggies this isn't the place to go, the menu is all pasta pizza etc. but no meat (besides fish) or veggies unless you like rocket salad. Two words. Truffled vodka. It tastes like a complete meal in each sip. My last night in Paris, I ate here, and highly recommend this place. The service was exceptional. We were seated next to a French couple living in Paris who had never been to La Maison, but they also thought it was exceptional. The reason I say the service is exceptional is that they were even willing to create a special plate for my vegan dining partner, which is almost unheard of in Paris. He ate a simple pasta dish with truffled olive oil and truffle shavings. I had the ravioli in a cream sauce, and each bite was addictive and heavenly. We both ate lots of bread and bread sticks in truffle oil as well. Considering it was the end of truffle season, I think it was a flavorful and mostly well-rounded meal. One of the most amazing dining experiences. A simple, no-fuss-no-muss dinner with good food and excellent service. The restaurant serves dishes with 3 types of truffles. I recommend dishes with all 3. My husband and I shared an app and 2 entrees which was the perfect amount of food. Wine prices are reasonable, $50-60 per bottle. We accidentally spilt a glass of water on our steak filet - right after it came out. The staff ran over, took the plate back to the kitchen, and remade the plate, replacing all the truffles.
