If you have kids do not stay here, their rooms are meant for 2 people only. The extra charge per person is ridiculous, do not recommend.

I stayed at the Westin Guadalajara for five nights earlier this month during the World Cup and…read moreoverall had a very good experience. Our flight arrived early, and the hotel was able to accommodate us with an early check-in around 11:00 a.m., which was greatly appreciated after traveling. The hotel felt very safe throughout our stay. Since it was hosting the South Korean national team, there was additional security, road closures, and a noticeable National Guard and police presence, which added to the sense of security. As a Marriott Platinum member, we received complimentary breakfast vouchers each morning. The breakfast buffet offered a good variety of options, and there were also à la carte items available for an additional charge. The room was comfortable for two adults. Our view overlooked a nearby apartment complex on the east side, so it wasn't anything special, but it wasn't an issue since we spent most of our time exploring the city. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was its excellent location. It was an easy walk to Expo Guadalajara, where the official World Cup shuttle buses departed for Estadio Akron, making transportation to World Cup matches very convenient. One unexpected highlight was finding a hot dog and hamburger cart near the OXXO on the northeast side of the hotel after looking for late-night tacos. The food was surprisingly good and worth checking out if you're hungry after the nearby restaurants have closed. The only disappointing part of our stay was the bar experience. The bartender was not particularly welcoming. On two separate occasions, he approached us to tell us that outside food and drinks were not allowed in the common seating area near the bar. While I understand the policy, the interactions felt unfriendly and made us feel unwelcome. One night we ordered two drinks while watching a World Cup match at the bar, and the bill came to about 600 pesos, which felt overpriced for what we received. One thing to keep in mind is the price. During the World Cup, rates were close to $1,000 USD per night, which I don't think would have been worth paying out of pocket. Fortunately, we redeemed Marriott Bonvoy points, making the stay an excellent value. Overall, I would stay here again if I'm ever in the area. Helpful front desk staff, comfortable accommodations, and the Platinum breakfast benefit. If the bar service were friendlier and the drink prices more reasonable, it would have been an easy five-star stay.

The…read morelobby was clean and stylish, and we were especially grateful to be allowed an early check-in since a room was available -- a thoughtful gesture that started our stay on a positive note. The room was serviced daily, which we appreciated; however, toiletries and teas were not replenished, which was a bit disappointing. One noticeable drawback was the front desk staff, who consistently avoided eye contact and never greeted guests when entering or exiting the lobby -- it made the atmosphere feel less hospitable than expected. Also worth noting: the hotel does not have a pool. If that's something important to you, be sure to check in advance. On a brighter note, the bed was exceptionally comfortable -- the mattress and pillows were truly dreamy. I haven't slept that well in a hotel, not even at The Ritz or Mandarin Oriental! As a brand marketed as a "sports lifestyle" hotel, they definitely deliver on providing great rest and recovery. Kudos to them for that!

Everything else is great!…read more I've been here two nights and dinner has been terrible the first night I had chicken in mole it was a chicken breast, had two bites and tasted a bit off I looked at the chicken and it was undercooked. I didn't complain just paid for it. The second night I had the tostadas de callo. I've had these many times but what I received was old smelly, squishy callo. I had to complain. They didn't charge me for my plate and service was really bad. Room is great and breakfast are amazing but dinner here I have to say not good at all.

We went down stairs and the front desk switched us to a new room, no fuss. We went up to the rooftop bar, great views and great drinks. The food however was a different story. Everyone in my group had issues with the food we sent back some of the food, but it wasn't any better when it returned to the table. Needless to say we did not eat here again. If you stay here visit the bar for the views but avoid the food. Overpriced and very low quality. Lastly, the hotel lobby has no restroom!!! Almost everyday while waiting for our friends in the lobby we had to make the trip up to our room in the 5th floor to use the bathroom. The was such an inconvenience. The hotel is centrally located and there are many restaurants and places to see within walking distance. I personally will not stay here again.

Booking directly with the hotel was very easy, and we were able to check in early upon arrival. The hotel is approximately 30 minutes from the airport; the hotel can arrange transportation to and from the airport for 320 pesos, which turns to be about $15 US in 2023. There were no issues w/ the transport arranged through the hotel; they were very flexible with our delayed arrival. There is also Uber in Mexico, which we took from the hotel to various restaurants without issue. This hotel is also walkable to many historic sites, open markets, and small businesses. Our stay at the hotel was pleasant as our room was as pictured and described online. The colonial design was beautiful and exactly the type of boutique, small hotel feel we were looking for during our trip. The cleanliness was satisfactory, and the amenities were as stated online. As other reviewers have noted, the hotel does have some plumbing issues; however, that is common for most Mexican states as the plumbing is old. We learned to allow time between flushing and the one time we had an issue with plumbing, the hotel staff addressed it promptly. It's important to note that this is the historical/colonial downtown area, which was built over hundreds of years ago, and likely still has the same plumbing so be flexible when traveling! There is 24 hour armed security at the front; entrance as there are at many establishments throughout Mexico. At no point in our stay did we feel unsafe. There is a pool on the top floor, which offered a nice rest from the heat of the city and a place to unwind with friends. We will concur with a prior reviewer that the pool does have loose tiles so use with caution, as you would, with any area that has a potential for a hazard. Overall, the food and beverages at the hotel were great and reasonably reasonably priced. The hotel provides bottled water at the front desk for guest. We appreciate the fair price, the accessibility, and hospitality. We will be back to continue our exploration of Guadalajara!
