I was with a large group, and when the very young waitress finally stopped by to see what we wanted, she took one person's drink order and then walked away. Walked away! While the rest of us sat there with no menus and no way to get drinks. And there were maybe 3 other people in the place. So terrible. Then, after a looooong wait for our drinks and food, half of the people received their lunches, while the rest of us sat there with nothing. The waitress never came back, so we had to walk up to the kitchen to find out that she had cancelled all of our salad orders because one person had changed their order from a salad to something else. You pick your size of potatoes and then sauces that you'd like served on top. Frietsteeg gives you the sauces on the side, which I really like. Most places simply squirt the sauces on top of the fries, which really stinks if it turns out you don't like the sauce. I opted for a small order of fries with a traditional side of mayonnaise for dipping. There isn't any seating so you strictly grab and go. Bags of fresh potatoes sit out front as a sign of quality. This place is located next to a coffeeshop, so they stay pretty busy all day and night and the clientele is interesting at all hours. Smoke a little weed and fries sound even more appealing than ever, lol. The fries here area tasty, fresh and affordable. I'm not sure it's worth a detour to get fries here because you can't really go wrong with fried potatoes anywhere in the city.

I arrived at around 7pm and from that time until its closing time at 7:30pm, there were 6 other customers and all of them were Dutch. I wanted large size but I couldn't decide which sauce to pick, so I asked the staff for suggestion and he recommended the Fritessaus (house sauce, which is mayo). The fries were cooked on the spot. Both fries and sauce are in ample quantity. It's amazing how you can find such an amazing food item that's delicious and fills your stomach for under 4 Euros. What's even better is that it's not too salty and you don't have the thirsty feeling after eating the fries. Just a heads-up, the store is really small and only accommodate around 4 people to eat while standing. If your group is large, it's best to order and take it outside to eat.
