If you are ever in the Visalia/Farmersville/Exeter area, you NEED to stop here. I honestly, can't wait to go back. I was in Farmersville recently for two days back to back and I'm sad that I didn't go here the first day and come back the second day. My family and I came here to eat from the restaurant side of this cute little one stop shop. They have everything here! A little counter straight ahead of where you walk in, to order hot food to go, and another restaurant style "order and sit" area off to the side. Then a market to your right when you walk in, that includes freshly made pan-dulce. I cannot tell you how many times I have looked for pan dulce this good. And I finally found some!! So our lunch visit...we came on Sunday, probably at a time after church, so it was busy. We waited in line, for a little and it probably took about ten minutes for our food and horchatas. Which in retrospect, is SO FAST, for the quality of food they make. I am happy to wait longer if necessary for how great the food was. Also, even though it was busy, the staff never lost their cool. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Even the staff cooking the food in the back, would look over and smile. That is worth 5 stars for customer service alone. Food- best authentic Mexican food that I have had at a restaurant in a long time. My mom ordered the spicy costillas (pork ribs) with rice and beans with corn tortillas ($8.49 for the plate); My tia got a carne asada tostada ($5.49) and I got the La Mejor Burrito Mojado (wet burrito) ($7.49). The horchatas for a Medium was $3. A small soda was $1. I can't even tell you, how happy I was with the prices. Again, 5 stars for cost for what you get. Taste- To say that this place has the best Mexican food that I have had at a restaurant in a long time, says a lot, but it truly was delicious. You seriously can taste the authenticity! You can tell that they use high quality ingredients, they take care in what they make and everything really is made fresh. You can just taste it. I even watched them make home-made corn tortillas, and when I realized my burrito was made with a home-made flour tortilla, I about died from happiness. Maybe the only thing, is if you like your food on the saltier side, you should probably grab some salt packets- which are available on the counter. Yes, taste earns 5 stars. Overall interior/exterior- You can tell that they try to keep the place clean- inside and out. We did have to ask someone to clean a table for us outside, but that was a quickly handled request. There was a patio cover and we enjoyed the weather that day. The inside has greenery on the ceiling and they have lots of gift like items spread out along the walls. The market side also gets 5 stars, for excellent pan dulce, and such friendly cashiers! They know how to create conversation and you can tell they enjoy working here. At least they all made it seem that way! Great work La Mejor Del Valle. You truly are La Mejor!!

Love this place, Been coming here for over 25 years, and every visit we have been treated with friendly welcomes as if we are family. It is only 15 mins away from home and well worth the drive, because we have never been disappointed with any of the food. Walking into the market/deli is like walking into my Abuelita's house...with the smell of freshly made food and Pandulce. Everyone is so helpful and remember faces, which makes you feel right at home. This is a must visit and take your time walking around looking At everything, with seating inside and outside with large tv's in the patio. Follow their Instagram to see the amazing food.

Finally got a chance to try La Mejor's Enchilada Night (Thursday-Sunday nights). I had the chicken enchiladas and a bacon wrapped hot dog. The food was delicious and the service was quick. The enchiladas were authentic Mexican enchiladas topped with lettuce, tomatoes and Mexican cheese just like my momma makes them! The bacon wrapped hot dog was topped with grilled onions and bell peppers and was also delicious. Will definitely return to try the rest of their specialty menu!

We have ordered from here before, Tamales and never had a problem until this December 2020. We ordered 2 dozen tamales and they were ok. We also bought Quacamole & Salsa. Well, the Quacamole caused a family member, the only one who ate it to get food poisoning. I've called them, emaied them, & have still not been able to talk to a manager or owner. They also would not redeem their own offer listed on Yelp. If you purchase the Quacamole be warned it may not be fresh. We will not order from this place again. Horrible service and bad quality. To be fair the tamales rank around 3 stars. The burritos & tortas 2.5 stars. Service 0 stars.

Best Carnitas ever also the buche is very hood too! The masa for tamales is always fresh and on point! The pan dulce is delicious too!

I devoured my asada wet burrito! Have the extra salsa verde on the side "super spicy!" and the Mexican Coke.

For 1 burrito and 1 taco with tip, came out to around $33. Don't do delivery from here. The Burrito was not very good. The meat was almost like ground beef in texture but also non existent at the same time. I tasted more beans than rice but even then, it was more of a soupy burrito with a tortilla that you had to rip at and hope each bite wouldn't undo the whole burrito. There was some kind of salsa inside it that wasn't apart of the description. It gave it an off flavor. Al Pastor taco was meh. The corn tortillas tasted homemade, which was nice. But the meat was stringy, kind of fatty and an off color almost a light orange. It tasted better than the asada but still wasn't very good. I do appreciate they followed my request for extra salsa, but these packs look like they come from a frozen dinner you get at the store. Absolutely off putting. The flavor was "ok" but nothing special. Overall, not worth it. $33 and I was left with an upset stomach. I had such high hopes! I haven't been in a long time and was hoping it would have been an amazing experience. I was wrong. I gave 3 stars cause I do appreciate them following the special instructions most other restaurants don't. But that still can't justify the food.

The staff is patient, even when you're staring down the menu like it's a test you didn't study for. The place fills fast. By the time I was halfway through my meal, the room was packed, heavy wooden tables, yellow walls, colorful figures scattered around, ranchero music cutting through the chatter. It's the kind of noise that tells you people actually want to be here. I went with the chile relleno. The rice? Basic, nothing to write about. The beans? Solid, especially with cheese melted over the top, the kind of detail that makes you nod mid‑bite. The relleno itself was the star: tender chile stuffed with cheese, soft breading, and a sauce that carried real flavor. Every forkful reminded me why this dish is a staple. Drinks come in to‑go cups, which threw me at first, but it fits the vibe, practical, no nonsense. El Tapatio feels like a place you can drop into for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and know you'll walk out fed, satisfied, and maybe humming along to the music. Driving past, the building almost waved me down, like it knew I owed it a revisit. Locals know this spot for one thing above all: tamales. Holiday season turns this place into a waiting‑list destination. People tell me they sell out fast, and every year there's a sign posted for tamale orders. If Farmersville has a tamale headquarters, this is it. Walking in hit me with childhood memories. The wooden tables and chairs looked exactly like the ones my grandma used to have, and of course the laminated translucent table covers, a staple in every Hispanic household. It felt like stepping into a time capsule. I ordered huevos rancheros from the breakfast menu. While waiting, they brought out chips and salsa. I always think of chips and salsa as a lunch thing, but honestly, I'll take them any time of day. The chips were average, but the salsa was the star, flavorful with a hint of spice, the kind that makes you keep dipping even when you know you should save room for your meal. The plate itself was alright. The rice and beans were standard, nothing to write home about. The sauce smothering the eggs started off just okay, but it grew on me as I kept eating. By the end, I appreciated it more than I expected. This place has potential, and maybe that's why I felt a little conflicted. They've been around forever, yet sometimes when I drive by, the lot looks empty. Maybe I'm passing through during slow hours, maybe it's just the rhythm of the town. Either way, I hoped for a bit more but I also can't deny the nostalgia and charm that still live here. Ana Maria's is a gem in Farmersville, even if it's a quiet one. The tamales are clearly the main attraction, and I'll definitely be ordering some during the holidays. And honestly, I might come back just for that salsa, it's worth the stop on its own.
