I live in New York, and I had been looking forward to enjoying authentic Mexican chile rellenos at such a renowned restaurant. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. The colonial courtyard creates a magical atmosphere, and the service was excellent from the moment we arrived. I also have to mention that the drinks were delicious and beautifully prepared. Unfortunately, the chile rellenos didn't meet our expectations. My mom and I both ordered them, and we agreed that they were served quite cold and didn't taste fresh. The staff kindly offered to replace our meals, which we truly appreciated, but I decided not to. Instead, I ended up eating some of my daughter's meal since I knew she wouldn't finish it. Thankfully, the rest of my family had a wonderful dining experience. My dad, my husband, and my daughter all loved their meals and were very happy with what they ordered. We finished the evening with desserts, coffee, and hot chocolate, and everything was absolutely delicious. Overall, Azul Histórico offers a stunning setting and outstanding service. I would've thought Mexico City had great food in general, but that wasn't the case. Was there for four days, ate many meals out and this was the only one I really enjoyed. Too bad the place was so hot and stuffy. It was cooler outside than it was inside. All they needed to do was open some windows. Service was great though.

As we sat the dining area became busier and busier. A good sign. They of course offered us an English menu and we requested on in Spanish so that can learn. It was hard to decide what to order, it was our last night so we knew that we were going to over order. We first orders guacamole. Then added a Pollo Pastor Taco, a pork El Pastor, a Bistec/Queso Taco, and a Chicharron de Quesso. The guacamole arrived first and it was the best we had all week...and we had it at least twice per day! Then the rest of the food just started arriving and we dug in. Everything was outstanding. The Bistec/Queso taco was something I had never tried and trust me I will get it again and again. It was delicious. This restaurant seemed to be a "Happy" place. It was humming with excitement. Service was excellent and prices were reasonable. Highly recommend.
