Went to check this place out the other day. I love shopping local and supporting small business . But I will NEVER give my business to these people. This place is a lot of fun to explore. As a previous reviewer pointed out, it's focused more on knick-knacks than furniture. There is plenty of furniture, but it's mostly of the shabby-chic variety, and it's hidden under lots and lots of lamps, mirror trays, tea sets, plates, figurines, and other doodads. This is not the place to go if you're trying to furnish an apartment, and you won't find any cool mid century credenzas or Danish modern lounge chairs. But if you enjoy browsing and are excited at the possibility of finding a one-of-a-kind treasure to take home, it's a lot of fun. I was pleasantly surprised at their selection of costume jewelry, especially their rings. I found a wonderful, expensive-looking ring for $5. They do accept credit cards, and staffers are friendly. Prices are fair but not rock-bottom. If you are into extremely high-end antiques, you will not find them here. Words of warning: - All sales are final - Everything is sold "as-is," so carefully check your finds for defects before buying them -If you see something in a case that you like, such as a piece of jewelry, go directly to the front desk to have the case opened for you - otherwise you will lose track of your treasure and have a difficult time finding it again! read more

There's a lot of "vintage" vs. antique here, but whatever your interest, La Mesa Antique mall is a great place to while away an hour or two going through all the booths. There are beautiful pieces of vintage pottery, but pricing is uneven, mainly because of the different booth owners. For my father in law's birthday we got him several vintage fishing lures from the 1940's, none of which were more than $5. That made a great, unique gift. If paper and ephemera are your thing, there's not much of it here. Pottery, glassware and ceramics can be found here in abundance. A lot of the display cases are on sale, as well. Not much in the way of furniture, but there are a few interesting pieces here (namely chairs and accent tables). La Mesa Antique Mall is worth visiting more than once; you never know what you'll find here! read more

I've been in here more than a dozen times and I have to agree with Jason... I feel like I'm being followed around. They have cameras all over the store that they can monitor at the front desk, so I'm not sure why they feel the need to follow me around, immediately taking everything I pick up to the front. Perhaps they've had a lot of problems with shoplifters? It turns me off and has happened a few times now. I generally like to carry my items around to see if I can find a match, a complementary item or to compare with other stuff. Or for any number of reasons (also allows me to continue to inspect for flaws or other issues in different lighting). When they appear and ask to take your item you feel weird saying that you'd like to hold on to it... like it makes you MORE of a target for being closely monitored. That said, the selection isn't bad and I do occasionally find unique things and decent deals. The store is nicely laid out and the booths are clean and neat. There is quite a bit of new reproduction stuff in a few booths (mostly glass items), so buyer beware. They have their own parking lot which is very nice. read more

Was so relieved to visit the store today and see that people were following mask protocols. I've been staying home for over a year now and am finally venturing back out and going back to my old haunts, this is one of them. After visiting other local antiques where they're absolutely not taking the mask mandates seriously or enforcing them, I felt comfortable enough to take my time browsing and enjoying all the booths. Very good selection. Varied and a lot to choose from. Consdiering all the items and the variety, all well-laid out and maintained. Clean, roomy, well- lit, down-home feel. I didn't notice employees following me, but when I was stopped for a while, one did find me, to ask me if I needed help. Employees very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. They packed my items (gifts) very nicely at no-charge. I do go there to buy gifts. I'm always satisfied! read more

Mostly newer stuff; more vintage than antique. Mainly garage sale fodder type stuff; a LOT of dishes, souvenir spoons and meh knicknacky stuff. I did find a nice vintage hat, but only because they'd brought in a lot of stuff for the annual La Mesa Antiques Fair. The only exception thing at the La Mesa Antique Mall is a SWEET booth with old radios. Beautiful, unusual pieces. I suffer serious radio lust. This is one of my favorite antique stores! They have tons of great items! Good variety and you will find authentic vintage items. They have certain booths that have discount(10-30%off).ive always found great little trinkets, rings, old cookbooks, etc and for a great price. Ive never been followed, they are kind and you can walk around for hours enjoying beautiful antique items. This is my go to spot in la mesa! This is an indoor mall packed full of treasures. It takes a while to walk through. Each booth has a different flair. Some have their items well-displayed while others are in piles. You'll find everything from old tools to Blue Willow. There's quite a range of prices, too. read more

BEWARE IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN OR A STROLLER OR POSSIBLY A WHEELCHAIR. We went here with our two young children in a tandem stroller. Once through the door a gentleman at the counter started to complain about the stroller under his breath. Taken back I ask if it was OK for us to be there and was asked to leave by the two ladies behind the counter. We stood outside upset and a lady came out and said "do you have a problem with us" When I questioned their ability to help people in wheel chairs she said "the difference is you could carry your kids and handicapped people can't" We had just walked through two other antique shops in LA Mesa with our stroller with no problems. In the other stores it was a tight fit but people could get by us and we were very considerate of the antiques. Sad to say my wife was in tears about the rude treatment. read more

La Mesa Antique Mall is my favorite antique store in La Mesa. Tucked behind the main strip (La Mesa Blvd.) on Palm Ave. I always find treasures here... jewelry, kitchen collectibles, furniture. The booths are diverse so there is something for everyone from true antiques to kitschy cool. The prices are great. The staff is very helpful. They are open 7 days a week which I appreciate because too much of La Mesa closes on Sunday. If you haven't explored this place yet check it out but set aside a hour or two the place is huge. read more

So as you can tell by most of my other posts i love to mention when i receive amazing service. However, the service was HORRIBLE here. I get that its an antique shop and there isnt much personal attention needed but i got maybe 2 words from the 3 workers that were there. I purchased a sign that was extremely over priced but i was there already so decided to get it. I didnt get one hello, thank you for coming NOTHING! the lady told me what i owed and handed me my change that was it. They were very cold and rude. I would suggest going to ANY of the antique shops on La Mesa Blvd rather then this one. You will get much better service elsewhere. read more

This place has a lot of cool and neat stuff. Staff are friendly and helpful. Found this place from their craigslist ad for comics and they have quite a good bit. What's interesting is they have different locations for them. I even found a nice copy of X-Force #4 and the first 2 issues of the Imperfects. If you're looking for vintage goods they carry mostly that like records, trinkets, Americana basically . Overall this is a great place and hope you can check it out. For the comic fans they have 2 long boxes with $1 issues but are located outside. So there'll be some dust and dirt from the wind on them. I really like this antique mall for the amount of items they have. There are some great deals and there are some not so great deals. The main reason for 3 stars has to do with their customer service... it is completely lacking. People rarely smile and engage with you, and when they do, they're very matter of fact. That's OK, I'll keep shopping here but will only buy if I absolutely love an item, or can't find it anywhere else. read more

La Mesa Antique Mall, Marie (owner) and Phyllis (Marie's assistant/helper) have been a wonderful experience for me! They both are friendly and helpful to me. Both ladies answer my questions and have given me good advice. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there are a lot of knickknacks here. When I look for antique stores, I look for furniture. There is little to none here. Don't get me wrong I like love antiques, but this is not the place for them. I hate to say that I have not found the place for them here (San Diego). I did get a great stickley rocker from the Del Mar antique show and some dining room tables on Newport Ave in OB. I am still looking for some good antique stores out here but have yet to find them. If you do go here ask for Marie, she is a nice lady. read more

Nice antique shop! I didn't even know it existed and today I was on my way to the grocery store and stopped by to check it out. It's really organized and clean and lots of good finds. I found a couple things j wish I could have bought today but I forgot my wallet in the car. Hopefully I can make it back there this week and pick up this cute little shelf I saw! read more

Awesome furniture selection, and a real find if you like Pyrex. I was able to grab a small casserole dish (with lid!) for $5. I honestly just found myself craving a bigger house so I could bring home some of the more gorgeous pieces...desks, dressers, tables, etc. Not the biggest antique mall in the area, but overall a great selection for a small town. The clerk let me use the bathroom after I asked where the nearest one was, so that's a star on it's own ;-) A great find! read more

Every time I go to this antique mall every one is extremely friendly to me especially Marie and the nice lady with the short dark hair. I don't look like a typical person that would collect antiques but they have never followed me around or made me feel uncomfortable. I used to live up north near L.A. and there was this HUGE Antique store I used to go to all the time. I would always find something interesting at a cheap price and now that I don't live there anymore I need to find a similar place down in S.D. I have gone to this antique store a few times now, and walked out empty handed once. With an antique store like this, you have to look at everything! Pick stuff up, look behind and under things. Sometimes your treasure is hiding. I love things that remind me of the 50s, owls and cute vintage jewelry. The last time I was there I bought a super cute pin that looks like a coo coo clock. Before that it was a black Americana(ie; mammy dolls, Aunt Jemima. They have a ton of this stuff if you collect) doll for my mom. Its a nice place to go and browse if you have an hour. read more

I visited their store for the first time and it was really overwhelming due to so much to see..but I suppose that can be a positive. I wanted to spend time distracted for awhile and it was good for that. Though, even with some nice ladies being helpful, I can understand if they want to make sure everything goes smoothly and fairly, for both buyer and seller. It saddens me to read the reviews here. This is one of the only great antique malls left. When people complain they really are not speaking the truth. I have been shopping here for many years. The owner and the staff are always very helpful and courteous . They have beautiful items and are always priced very fairly. I purchased one of my favorite pieces of furniture here. As far as them selling things you do not approve of, these items are apart of history and many collectors collect them. Instead of complaining just enjoy the experience. a terrific place. Lots of variety. Because it is an antique mall with different vendors setting their own prices, they can vary from low to high. I have been here twice and both times purchased items that I thought were very fairly priced. Both were furniture items. One was an oak curio cabinet, one of several that were available at the time. Ever feel like someone is watching you? Well every time I go to this place I feel as though I am being constantly monitored. Its actually pretty comical; the staff walk around and pretend to look into the booth next to where you are browsing.. as if to suggest they forgot something or needed to "dust". This is our favorite antique shop because of the diverse selection. Last visit we scored on some 60's comics and a 50's bakelite radio. They have some great antique and vintage furniture pieces, and prices are lower on average than in most local antique shops. The staff is always friendly, and it's obvious they enjoy working there. We like that they rove around to assist with merchandise. Nothing is more frustrating than to walk around looking for help only to forget where your selected item is located! From what I can tell, they act as an agent for people who sell their items here so some "booths" offer better pricing than others and there isn't much haggle room since the seller ultimately has final say. The people in the store are nice enough. They know very little about antiques in general and specifically the pieces in their store. I purchased a very beautiful display cabinet and Marie was very nice. I believe she is part owner of the mall; definitely owner of my cabinet. She had no information about the piece and no way of reaching the previous owner. After delivery of the piece, I realized it did not fit where I was going to place it. So my husband and I tries many variations to accomidate the cabinet to no avail. Normally I measure and measure everything; this time I did not. We contacted Marie at Antique Mall and were basically told, "To bad so sad for you". Even after we offered her a 20% restocking fee she refused. Not good! I am a very loyal customer once I find a store I like: this is a big "NO" in my book. read more

Trying to sell here even antiques is hard the owner makes sarcastic remarks or stares you down when wanting to sell.I have been a loyal customer for about 2 years and rarely sell.The last visit when i tried to sell the owner was whispering about me call me paranoid but was looking at me.terrible customer service if you ask me i dont always expect stuff to be bought from me when i try to sell but i do loathe terrible customer service.I will never visit this place again and will not recommend it to anyone as i deal will a lot of tourist and will suggest other antique stores. read more
