Today I went there for the annual Broadway Heights community organization breakfast. Comfortable with good food (mid-April each year). The Recreation Center has BIG front desk, weight room, exercise room, restrooms/locker rooms, Gym, Teen Center, meeting rooms too. All well kept. Great view of mountains outside of back of gym during your break. Nice modern design and architecture. Across the street is Mountain View Park with a small rec. center building. The park is pleasant on the north side, but a little rough on in the center. There is a baseball diamond with bleachers on the southwest corner. With rough grassy area on the southeast corner. The tennis courts have no nets that I saw and in very rough shape?? The basketball courts are in the center of the park and looked playable. There are a few picnic tables and some shade trees. A Brand New children's Playground is being constructed to be open in a couple of months directly across from the community center, but there is no street parking on Boundary Street, which is a one-way going north. You MUST use 40th Street via T st. to get to Mountain View Community Center. There is another park, Southcrest Community Park, that is just a few blocks south on 41st St. which is what Boundary St. turns into going south of Mountain View Community Center. Main entrance off South 40th Street.

However, the worker that checked me in was slightly rude because she didn't understand what she was doing. She actually didn't know if I needed to change a couple things on my roll. Then she wasn't sure if a hard copy of the voter's registration is being mailed out. It's not. Everything is kept online these days. She actually acted as if it was my fault. I brought a friend who had an expired drivers license and no mail from her current address. However, she still voted. The building is clean. No air conditioning inside. The center has private front lot parking.

First to review (FTR), woohoo!…read more I attended a surprise birthday party at this venue, and it was an absolute blast! The community center was spacious, open, and bright. With about 100 guests, there was still plenty of room for everyone to sit comfortably. The celebrant had a special throne on the main stage, and the interior was beautifully decorated with bright lights and high ceilings. Thankfully, the AC worked well since it warmed up as the party got going. There was also an outdoor patio where they served tacos--always a win! The large kitchen made it easy for them to prep and serve food to all the guests. They even had a security guard keeping an eye on things, which was a nice touch. The Spring Valley Community Center also offers a variety of leisure services and lifelong learning opportunities for visitors of all ages. Some of the facility features include: lifelong learning and special interest programs, event and private rentals, children's day camps, adult and senior programs, youth programs, and fitness classes. If you're looking for a solid event venue with plenty of parking (depending on the day), ample restroom facilities, and a spacious, well-maintained setting for any special occasion, I highly recommend this spot!

I parked on the street, so I visited the recreation building for a bit, but there's a drive that goes up a hill to enter the actual parking lot. The park sport restrooms, a playground, picnic tables, and a large grassy area with a slight decline. I was most pleased with the trail that headed up a moderate hill pass a seasonal stream, and up and around the park, until it offers a scenic view from the top of the park. There were benches here and there and trash cans along the trail. It's a nice family park.

I found it to be a clean well maintained hidden gem with a grassy field a playground picnic tables and hiking trail with a cool footbridge that crosses the dry Creek. I'll definitely return in our rainy season to see the creek with water in it. The one thing I did not like or appreciate about this park is the same thing I don't like about many San Diego County Parks. The restroom offer no privacy for it's visitors because the stalls have no doors . This provided a scene that will forever be etched in my mind AND was equally embarrassing for the other restroom user. It also robbed the Park of the Five Star review it so richly deserved. The park is also home to a recreation Center which I did not visit. I took a small walk on the trail. My podiatrist instructed me to give up hiking. I have it up cold turkey with not even one hike on 5 years. I now go on nature walks. it has servede well.. After my walk I sat at a picnic table where I relaxed, read from Mark Atteberry's book, "The Caleb Quest ' and did some people watching. There were dog walkers, fathers walking with sons, and moms with children on swings and slides. One thing I didn't see was a single form of wildlife. No birds, squirrels, butterflies. I don't recall even seeing a single ant. After my nice visit to the park . I went to New Century Buffet where the restroom wasichore aligned with my standards. I'll be back!

Correction: That may or may not be true, as I don't really know Lemon Grove's actual borders, so I may have spent time passing through here on the freeway without knowing it. It seems like a pretty run-down city. I'm all for a diamond in the rough and not judging a book by its cover and understanding and acknowledging an old place's charm or at the very least its onetime charm even if that charm has long since faded. I'm not even basing my review on how the city looks or makes me feel. This review is based on two things: the conditions of the streets in Lemon Grove, and its neighborhoods. I don't think I've seen asphalt is condition this poor anywhere other than abandoned roads, and even many of those roads had portions that were still decent. It feels like 70 percent or more of Lemon Grove's streets need their pavement replaced badly. I may be being generous. Why do citizens put up with this? I'm not talking about potholes; I'm talking about degraded asphalt that should have been replaced decades ago. I'm not exaggerating. Just based on that, I would never voluntarily live here. The neighborhoods are cute in an old-California spread-out kind of way. Not quite the 1950s, but the 1920s and 1930s, or at least what I know about them. There are lovely groves of orange and lemon trees in people's yards. Some of the houses are run down, of course, and some front yards are a mess. But other people take pride in their little pieces of the American dream, which makes the sorry state of the street conditions that much more depressing. I think Lemon Grove is my least favorite city in San Diego County.
