Cash only! They do not take cards, so come prepared! There is a small ordering area in front and there is additional seating on the side. Really nice staff. Ordered the pastor tacos. Absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The green salsa that comes with the chips are NOT mild. I like spice but it was a tad much even for me.

Just a heads up, La Mixteca is cash only! After doing two short hikes at Silas Condict Park, my friend and I came to La Mixteca feeling quite peckish... my friend ordered bistec (steak) tacos, which came with 4 tacos for $10. I ordered two chicken tacos and two chicken empanadas. We sat in the adjacent dining room and the food was brought out within a few minutes. The guy who we assumed is the owner or manager even brought out two cups with ice for us to share our bottle of Jarritos when I just asked him for a cup, which was very considerate! Our food was DELICIOUS - the meat was so tender and flavorful in both, and the green and red hot sauces that were brought out were so good. The empanadas were my personal favorite. The portions were great and we were stuffed despite barely eating breakfast that morning. The guy who was working there was so sweet and my friend and I wish we spoke more Spanish to be able to talk to him conversationally. Regardless, we would probably be back here weekly if we didn't live an hour away!

Authentic Mexican delicious food. Our go to item is the tacos carnitas. We also love the chicken sopes. Our whole family loves chips and guacamole.

We've eaten here for takeout at least 5 times and i'm blown away at how good they are, if you want authentic Mexican in the butler/ bloomingdale area without the overpriced American influence ( LoL) then this is your game. This is reminiscent of the taco joints I frequented in the spanish neighborhoods in Queens, the Lengua tacos are great and are as the Birria tacos which they serve with consommé , some of the best flavored of its kind. With all of the restaurants around my area closing or changing ownership this is the only consistent choice right now!

I'm always psyched for the salsa here and could probably polish off a whole basket of tortilla chips by myself with it. It's got just the right amount of mild kick. You're given a complimentary cheesy tortilla as an appetizer as well. We often get the queso derretido con chorizo appetizer, a combo platter of some sort, and I'm a fan of their paella as well, which is stuffed to the brim with chicken, chorizo, and seafood. They serve up a complimentary dessert of banana & honey chimichanga at the end which is yummy. The prices have gone up a fair bit in the last couple of years, and they do charge 4% for credit card payment (an increasingly common practice that's anathema to someone who hates carrying cash like me), so I was tempted to take away a star. But in light of our overall great experiences here, always satisfying meals, excellent and friendly service (shoutout to Fabian), not to mention the freebies they throw in, a 5-star rating is still justified.

We usually come when the owner is present, and the experience is always fantastic. Unfortunately, our visit this past Tuesday (which honestly should be Taco Tuesday) missed the mark. Our waitress was new and struggled to explain several menu items, which led to some confusion. We ordered tacos, queso with beans, nachos, and chips with guacamole. The order came out incorrect, and the queso was a major disappointment--it arrived as a bowl of grease, completely separated and inedible. The tacos were very small, light on filling, and lacked the bold seasoning and heartiness we've come to expect here. Honestly, it wasn't the usual Guacamole quality. What made it more frustrating was that the wait staff didn't seem very helpful in correcting the issues or explaining what went wrong. While we noticed the owner wasn't in that day and chalk some of this up to her absence, a restaurant still needs to run smoothly when the owner takes time off--burnout is real, and strong staff support is key. We truly don't want to hurt this business. We drive a distance to come here and still consider it one of our favorite spots. That said, $90 for two meals, one appetizer, and a side of queso and beans, with this experience, felt disappointing. I'm leaving four stars because we know how great Guacamole can be, even though this visit was closer to a two-star experience. I hope management sees this as constructive feedback and uses it to help train newer staff--this place is too good not to get back to its usual standard.
