If you want some fresh and authentic Mexican food, this is your place to go to! Now, I have nothing against Tex-Mex food but places don't highlight that part when you get somewhere and this is by far one of the most authentic places Ive been to. The inside was very clean and the staff was very nice, polite, and everyone was following the current COVID-19 guidelines. I ordered a "Pancita" which is a Mexican stew that consists of tripe (pork or beef). The broth has a nice kick to it as its a bit spicy since its made from Chiles Guajillo and Chiles de Arbol (both are peppers). Not to mention the meat was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! I loved the freshly cut cilantro, limes and onion to put in the soup rather than other places that pre-bag their stuff. Adding along to that, these handmade tortillas gave the order a very "at home" feeling. I definitely recommend this spot! I can't wait to come back and try the rest of their menu!

Fantastic. If you're looking for legit, delicious tacos please look no further. Posting this after ordering twice in one week. 10/10 chorizo tacos (crispy and so flavorful) el pastor (perfect hint of pineapple) and carnitas (super tender and clean). Enchiladas verdes out of this world bright tasting. Nachos look exactly like the picture on the menu. It's all great. Plus the tacos come with grilled green onion? Amazing touch.

Yet another improvement... New management and super clean... I recently had a burrito, it was larger than other restaurants and fast food joints, yet it was authentic Mexican with fresh cilantro and diced chickenI would say a person could have two meals with the size of the portion that I received. I could not eat it all in one sitting. I enjoyed it later that day as well. Kudos to the new owners/managers. I noticed on the awning that they now call it a Mexican restaurant instead of a grocery deli

Wow! I pass this place all the time and decided to finally try it, and I'm so happy I did! Great family owned place, with made to order authentic Mexican food! I followed the advice of another review here and got the quesadilla. Great portion size and it tasted amazing! I will definitely be returning! You can dine in, get take out, and they deliver too!

Fantastic mom and pop Mexican food in downtown Hillsdale. I live in California and the carnitas and al pastor rival all the taquerias over there. You have to eat here.

This is our new favorite Mexican spot. We love the burritos and guacamole. Authentic and delicious. Highly recommend.

El Azteca. The Aztec. A civilization which rose to and held power for centuries. Their leadership,…read morein some indirect fashion, has led to the craftsmanship of El Azteca - A slight chain of Mexican restaurants in a 30 min radius of Bergen County. I will copy and paste this review across the Park Ridge and Mahwah locations so emphasize my appreciate for their consistency in providing great Mexican food. If you are consistently performing, Linguini will take care of you. Like I've taken care of many others. I will bring you to the top with me. If you backstab me. Oh if you come for me at the top, you will reach an abyss so deep you may end up digging to China. Don't test me. I'm not that guy. Anyways, I've tried a lot from Azteca. Most of what they've got is a 4/4.5 out of 5 but I'm rounding up for the full experience. Phenomenal price point. Variety of food that all comes out well. Performs well in restaurant and when the food travels. Friendly staff. And local business of which I support. I suffer from GGS - Good Guy Syndrome, sorry not sorry. My motha, bless her soul. I legit mean bless her soul. Be nice. Pray. Bow down to her. She doesn't eat much food but she even loved the taco salad here so much that she asked to go again. So much protein, so well seasoned. Just as their other options showcase as well. My personal favs are the Kash Burrito and the, what I'd call "trademark" Cod Burrito. Never have seen it elsewhere like this. The wrap is toasted wonderfully, great rice, great salsa. I mean this place just does it real well. I've had tacos, appetizers, desserts. Never let down. El Azteca is consistently good. Constantly pushing out quality product. Is it the best Mexican I've had? No. But it's the most underrated. Being a consistent 4, makes you a five in my books. It's like that girl that's occasionally a 6 or occasionally an 9... you can't bring her home. But that girl that's consistently a 7 or an 8? You let her meet the fam. I don't where I'm going with this one. All I'll say is STOP. Stop going to Chipotle, Bubbakoo's, etc. when you could be supporting a better quality and friendlier priced location in El Azteca. Thank you in advance. I will be watching - LB.

My friend and went there on a complete whim. It popped up when we were searching for a place to go…read more Boy, am I so glad we did!! First, the place is very clean and well kept. Decor was minimal but nice and comfortable. Had great music in the background (80's rock - yes I'm GenX). We decided to sample a few things so for appetizers we got the mini calzones (sausage and broccoli rabe) that came 3 on a plate and were about the size of a ravioli and stuffed full. Absolutely delicious. Not overwhelming in garlic taste or sausage - a perfect balance. We also got the lobster dumplings. This came in a small bowl with broccoli florets and a tasty sauce. There were 4 dumplings and again, perfect balance, did not have an overwhelming lobster smell at all and the sauce was tangy with a sweet aftertaste. We also had the ahi tuna tacos, came 2 on a plate, piled high with cabbage, a slice of avocado, tuna, and a crème sauce that left me wanting more, and 2 cucumber slices on top. Again - delicious. For dinner we split the Ahi Tuna and it came with Soba Noodles and Bok Choi in a sauce. The tuna was seared with, what tased like, crushed red pepper flakes but it only had a slight "kick" to it. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted so great. We got the polenta on the side and it was perfect for offsetting the spice! Dessert matched the meal in its taste and presentation! We had the dark chocolate mousse and the napoleon. I think the best part of both was the ice cream that came with it, a perfect addition to the dessert and presented with such elegance that you almost didn't want to eat it. Our waiter was fantastic. He gave us some good suggestions that we went with and did not steer us wrong. Right now, they are BYOB. We had a great chat with the chef on our way out and he was super nice and friendly (and he beat Bobby Flay!). This is our new favorite place and can't wait to go back to try more. They have a lunch menu that is different from the dinner menu that I can't wait to try. Chef Michael says his chicken burger is the best! Gotta try it!!
