Long story short, they don't pay attention to allergies.
I told them multiple times about a severe shellfish allergy. Twice upon making my reservation. Twice upon my arrival. I was assured each time that it wouldn't be a problem.
Additionally, I went through the 5 course tasting menu since that is what I intended to order. I pointed out the dishes that I couldn't eat and was assured that it wasn't a problem and that they could make substitutions.
After all of that, they served me a dish that included a bisque made with lobster. I knew it upon my first taste. When I asked the staff, they confirmed my suspicion. They removed the dish and apologized.
When I received my bill, there was no adjustment made. I even paid for the dish that I couldn't eat????
So disappointing, I expected better.
Now, on my last night in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, instead of enjoying the town, I'm in bed drugged to on benadryl and covered in hydrocortisone cream to try to battle the hives. Thank God I didn't have to use my epi pen. read more
