This establishment is way overpriced. For a pedicure costing almost $60, I would expect minimal errors. I do not recommend.

I went to LA Nails to get a dip manicure before a vacation I was taking. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the worst manicure I've ever received. She hacked my cuticles and nails to the point of bleeding. The nails have no shape and are incredibly bumpy. I'm so embarrassed with how they look. The woman barely spoke and told me towards the end she was very tired and had taken Benadryl. It's also a pretty dirty place. I will be going elsewhere to get them fixed immediately. I had a very unfortunate experience here. I have never had a worse full acrylic set than I did here. They were extremely chunky, thick, and heavy. She got acrylic glue all over my fingers and didn't bother to clean them up until I asked. Very very sloppy job, I will not be returning here. It took her more than two hours to do an entire set. I got there before 4 and didn't leave until 6:30!!!! Just for a full set. And I was the only person in there the entire time. Even worse, literally every single nail peeled off less than a week later. I've never ever had that happen to me- usually acrylics could stay on my nails for more than a month. Sometimes - pretty nails can just give you that boost of confidence you need. Other times, you've got a special occasion and want your nails to look like an adult did them and not like your 4 year old niece went crazy with her Crayola's. But most of the time, you just go in and have someone else do them because you're just that damn lazy. I like to hop around from salon to salon, mostly because I enjoy new experiences and often times take advantage of a new-customer special. But I found LA nails driving home one day, and they had a spot open in front of their store, so I walked in. I went to their site whilst in the massage chair for a pedicure and found a $60 gel-mani and spa-pedi deal. And if you've ever shelled out cash for colored tips you know that's a good deal around here. It is good all week - not just on a Mon&Tues like it says online. Now, I don't believe this salon is at the height of luxury, but if you are not already expecting to be treated like a princess, then you will have a perfectly wonderful experience. They really take their time here, so expect at least an hour and a half of your day to be devoted to the art of polishing and preppin' those koala claws you call nails. I have been here 4 times, each for the same combo of services, and have left happy each and every time. That is pretty consistent for having 4+ different women go to work on me. The gel polish has lasted up to a month, and regular pedicures usually look great for up to 3 weeks - not bad at all. I was treated with respect, and have never found myself in a situation where I felt others were talking about me right in front of my face. They offer you bottled water and always do the mani and pedi at the same time - which saves you a bit of time, and hey - sitting on a massage chair for an hour and a half ALMOST makes you forget that stiff board-like device at work you have to suffer through for 8+ hours a day. As with most 'cheap' nail salons, they prefer their tip in cash (as there is no line-item for a tip on your credit card receipt.) I would definitely recommend to the lady who appreciates attention to detail, but also knows the value of a good deal. read more

I didn't write a review when I went here a few months ago, just forgot, but I still think about the mani/pedi I got here and constantly compare it to others. Best I've ever had. The foot rub was amazing, they did my hands and feet at the same time, all my nails were shaped well and the same size. The polish stayed on for weeks. The salon is neat and clean--sometimes they can smell like nail polish or chemical-y but this one was perfect. Unfortunately, this is no where near where I live or work, but it is out by my St. Pauli friends so I think I might have to l learn how to better time my gatherings in that part of the cities to squeeze in a top notch nail pampering. read more

Walked in and they took me right away! I'm weird with my nails, I mean weeeird. I normally do my own acrylics but lately I've felt like spoiling myself by having someone else pamper me. I like to get a polish removal and a fill with no polish. This sometimes throws nail techs off. I love doing my own gel (since I'm weird and picky about that too) but the woman who helped me thought the idea was awesome! She even made sure my nails were prepped for gel application before I left!!!! Got over charged for a fill ($55?) after I had nails from a set that was about 4 weeks old. I got the same color and shape all she had to do was trim the nails, file them and fill them. But I got charged $55. If I would have known it was that much I would have taken them off myself and got a whole new set for that price? Doesn't make sense. I won't be going back. read more

I have been a serious nail biter for all my life but I wanted to get my nails done for my senior prom. I was worried that my nails would be too short to put acrylics on (and about getting my nails done in general), but it was for nothing! Hannah did an excellent job on my nails and made them so pretty for prom!! I gave her a picture reference of what I wanted, and made my nails exactly the same. It was also really fun talking to her. I was a walk in and they were very friendly and very quick to seat me for my pedicure. The colors they have to pick from are also a great selection! I had a cut on the bottom of one of my feet from ripping my callous at work walking around barefoot, and the lady took extra care to trim it up and not hurt it. My favorite part was the warm lotion massage. The lady wasn't in a hurry and did a fantastic job! It was a good length for both legs and very relaxing. I walked in today soon after the shop opened and was greeted by Henry right at the door! Everyone was so extremely friendly and welcoming and it was really refreshing. I have never been here before and was very pleasantly surprised at the exceptional quality of services and how friendly everyone was. I'm not used to paying so much for a mani/pedi ($60), but I really can't complain for how great the staff was and how careful they were with everything. My only complaint would be that I was there almost 2 hours for just my mani/pedi... Definitely make sure you have time to sit and get pampered and that you don't have to be anywhere in a hurry! Like I said, I appreciate the quality of the services so I'm not surprised it took a while, but that's just me. I would definitely go back someday when I am in the area again. TL:DR- Great staff, amazing quality, but be prepared to be here a while if getting multiple services. 4/5 stars for that reason! read more

My manicure was nice it looks great but I just can't give this place more than three stars due to non-friendliness and customer interaction. To be completely honest I didn't feel welcome here at all. None of the staff was nice in anyway in fact the most interaction I even got was to have instructions barked at me. I literally felt like I was rushed around to get me out of there. It wasn't just me though! they were rude to everyone that walked in! And man was this place out dated and gross! Remember the salon from the AMC show Better call Saul? This place makes that one look upscale. The salon could definitely use a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. The decals on the walls were peeling off and the decor and posters were definitely from at least 1994. This whole salon was dirty and disgusting. Usually, I leave nail salons with one or two areas that I wished they took care of or were more attentive to -- a hair there, not enough color here, or a bump here and there. I don't make a big fuss since I'm not expecting perfection.... but you may get perfection with Hannah and Levi. So you've been forewarned ;) Hannah is most thorough and detail oriented. She's is precise with her hands and detailed and smooth with the brush. (Hannah did my nails (gel) and Levi did the spa-edition pedi. Levi is strong, so you get a pretty good leg massage! In total, the damage was $60, plus tip. If you only want the regular mani pedi (no gel nor spa pedi) package for $40, make sure to tell them before they start.) I'm new to this town and did a walk-in first thing in the morning. It wasn't busy, but a few mins after I sat down people started trickling in, so would make an appt if it is later in the day or do walk-ins in the morning (of course, this may not be the case always). In any event, thanks to LA Nails, I just walked out with my nails ready for summer! It's really perfect and there is nothing about the service as a whole that I am unhappy about. Unbelievably great! I'm 45 and Nancy gave me the best manicure I've ever had. I asked for an appointment for gel polish before I knew that the kind of color I wanted required acrylics. I have tiny little nail beds and acrylic nails always looked just plain old weird on me. But when Nancy was finished with them they looked like my nails. People must say that a lot, but I seriously mean it. Never happened before. I watched the other technicians work and they were all amazing. Went in for manicure...$45 for Chromed finish polish which I am ok with price, but the gal did not make sure my nails were smooth after she used the dog grooming tool to sand down the tops of my real nails. So needless to say all bumps or imperfections shown thru the chrome color. Was not happy with results of my nails looked very sloppy. read more

Not impressed at all. I'm new to the St. Paul area thought I would try a new nail salon instead of my regular location in Minneapolis. I was a walk in the wait was 20 minutes witch is fine for a walk in. Let's just say this: - the nail technician didn't clean her tools after working on another persons feet. - the prices are way to high for a not so great salon.( crowded, cluttered, dirty foot tubs, eating food in between service with the door open to there break room) - the bathrooms are shared with other restaurant which was not clean. *Before she could get started I left. Two parts to this review. 1) I came in to get a nails replaced and to get a few fixed. I got my nails done at Hello Birdie in SanDiego (highly recommend if you're ever in that area) where they do hard gel nails. I've yet to find a place in the Twin Cities that does Hard Gel Nails (so if you know of any, please let me know). Unfortunately LA Nails only does Powder Gel Nails, which I'm not a fan of. Nonetheless, the artist doing my nails was wonderful and did a great job at fixing my nails. I was also offered a water when I sat down. Service wise the business gets 4 stars in my opinion. 2) Cleanliness? It doesn't really exist at this salon. They had boxes laying around in the back. Unlike most nail salons their pedicure basins were just sitting there with water, whether there was someone sitting there or not. The store itself just seemed cluttered and a bit on the grungy side. For the store itself I give this place 2 stars. I wish that the attention to detail that the artists have would translate to the attention to detail that the store owner/other employees have. Just clean up a bit and you'd have a higher review from this customer. read more

I came in to get a pedicure and relax and left more stressed and frustrated. While clipping my toenails, she cut my skin twice and was very rough. She rushed through the whole pedicure and didn't take time to do a very nice job. She forced (and I mean forced) the toe separators on my foot with no regard to pain. She was rude, short, and honestly not nice. I was with a friend and when I was done (much faster than my friend because this girl rushed) I asked if I could sit and finish my massage and talk to my friend I had brought. She said "no, move over there." It was only my friend and I in the store, so I'm not sure what her issue was. I went to this salon based on the reviews that I read - however, my experience was completely different. They do 'take' appointments, but appts and walk-ins are all handled the same here - first come, first serve. I had a gel manicure and I am very disappointed. By the first evening after my mainucure, my nails look awful and need to be completely re-done. *The polish on both of my thumbs is rippled. *The polish does not go all the way to the tips of most of my nails. The lighting is bad in the salon so I didn't notice the two above points until after I left. *Shortly after leaving the salon, a chunk of the polish fell off of one of my nails. I have never had this happen before. The owner does not have a very friendly demeanor or attitude. There are many salon options in the area, with much higher quality service and I will not be returning to this one. read more

I paid for a mani/pedi; paying 20 extra for gel polish. I was told it would last 2-4 wks. Mine lasted less than 1 week, it started peeling. Also the nail tech used a brush to create a space between the nail bed & the actual nail-creating the look that my nails have already began to grow. I called to explain that my gel polish had began to peel within 1 week. I was asked to come back at that moment, with a busy schedule, that was not possible. I was told to come in at the end of the week, on Saturday at 9am and my gel polish would be removed and Re-DONE. I went in at an inconvenience to me. I was treated VERY RUDELY. I was told that I would have to Re-pay for a service that I already paid for and the service rendered was not adequate and falsely advertised! I waited 30 minutes while the staff talked amongst themselves of how they were not going to help me. I was told that only 1 or 2 nails would be Re-done...I was told that I misunderstood what was told to me on the phone. I was told i should have come in sooner, yet the owner said they had graduations and wedding parties to service and asked me to come in Saturday when the nail techs had more time. I was told that my nails grew out so I was not going to get a do over, after 30 minutes of waiting. I was told that I was being rude for speaking up for myself and speaking against wrong actions by the staff and company! I was bounced around to three different people, stating that each person was the manager and had the final say. The staff spoke to one another about me without including me in the solution. I felt set up. I felt disrespected. I felt like I spent my hard earned money and the service I paid for was a sham! I was not allowed to state my case. I asked for a refund of just the additional amount I paid for the gel polish. I pay xtra for Gel so it will last longer. Otherwise I would have asked for the regular polish with an expectation that it would only last 2 days tops! This has got to stop! When I asked for a refund of just the amount for the gel polish, I was told absolutely not "we don't give refunds". They ask you to pay 20 dollars extra above the pedicure for this gel polish that is advertised as lasting longer; minimally 2 weeks. I am outraged and will be reporting this nail place to the BBB and disputing this charge with my financial institution! This is ridiculous! I am a business owner and I would NEVER treat my customers this way! As long as we continue to patronize these types of businesses, they will continue to get away with this type of behavior. I will never patronize this place again and I will make sure all friends and family will stay clear as well!!!!!!!! read more
