I contacted the shop after my 2021 Turbo Levo, with only 500 miles on it, suffered a motor failure. From the start, Michael was extremely helpful. He took the time to walk through the error codes with me over the phone to make sure the diagnosis was accurate, and once we confirmed the issue, he got me in the very same day. Although the bike was out of warranty, Michael and Specialized recognized that a motor failure at such low mileage was premature. They stepped up and offered a goodwill credit to help offset the cost of a full motor replacement. That gesture meant a lot and says a great deal about both the shop and the brand. It showed me that Specialized stands behind its products and that this shop stands behind its customers. Michael took excellent care of both the bike and the entire repair process. I just finished a shakedown ride through Tecolote Canyon, including the climb back out, and the bike felt absolutely brand new. I live in San Diego, and the drive to Carlsbad is not exactly convenient, especially with traffic, but after this experience I can say without hesitation that I will continue making the trip. The level of service, professionalism, and care I received made me a loyal customer. Thank you to Michael and to Specialized for doing right by both the bike and the rider.

FWIW, I've spent over a decade in the cycling industry, and used to race bikes professionally. Walked into the shop, two employees behind the counter--one on a computer facing the shop floor/me, another talking to the single customer in the shop. I stood there for a few minutes, didn't get any sort of eye contact or acknowledgement from either employee, no "be right with you", to the point where it got a little weird. Took a quick browse around the shop (not worried about losing my plane "in line" since the store was empty) then came back to wait again at the counter for several more minutes. My extremely kind & patient wife tells me--this is weird--and I tell her yes, let's go. Both employees have to hear this conversation, the shop is basically silent, we're standing a few feet away. Computer guy doesn't even look up. Walked out the store, still not a word. I know the cycling industry has a reputation for gatekeeping, and being condescending, rude, etc., etc., but I really had never experienced anything like this before. It should not be tolerated. On a positive note, there are several good, local, family owned shops that are kind & helpful. I would suggest seeking them out instead.

The trail itself was pretty quiet. We passed a few people here and there. It's very well maintained, though there aren't any signs or clear directions at certain points, so I'd recommend using AllTrails to stay on track. Also worth noting, there are no trash cans along the route, so plan accordingly. The trail is technically listed as not dog-friendly, but we did see a couple of dogs along the way. We did the 4.5-mile overlook loop. There were a few sections that were a bit steep, but overall it's a fairly easy hike with mostly flat terrain. There's a lot of greenery throughout, and the creek adds a really nice touch. It's a really scenic and peaceful setting. It took us about 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete. We went on a cloudy day, which ended up being perfect for the hike. Overall, it's a beautiful, well-kept trail and definitely worth checking out.

Going around 10 in the morning sounds perfect for soaking in the peaceful vibe without running into many people. It's a relatively easy route with plenty of spots to pause for a picnic, making it the perfect way to connect with nature and start the day surrounded by quiet beauty.

Hard work. Once you start getting up you can see the entire valley of rooftop after rooftop after rooftop out to the ocean so it is nice to have quite a place for recreation in a high density populated area. Painstaking pedaling for 2 miles up over rock gardens. It was a few days after hard rains and the trail is soupy and very muddy in spots. Dry in other places. Rideable. Great views off Carlsbad out to ocean cuz no trees. Moslty chaparral native plants. This is more for hiking than mountain biking. That is my opinion and I am sticking with it. I ride all over the western USA and Canada BC. I have ridden hundreds and hundreds of trails. Not a flowly trail that cross county MTBikers like. Nondescript surrounding terrain - only hills of low chaparral scrub plants. Just up. Then down. Not so exciting for a rider. Probably a bit more fun just hiking! But a great neighborhood place to recreate - get into the wild! After an hour exploring, I shut it down. Muddy. Not thrilling for the mind, body and soul. Headed / pedaled out. Hey, the trail should dry out by summer LOL! Trails need some maintenance. Suggest put in water breaks to divert water off trails. Prevent the big ruts. Trail will continue to erode. By the way, if you hike after rains, be prepared to step in mud.

It's best to do the large but steady uphill first if you're looking for a good workout and end with the waterfall. The trail does get you to the peak pretty quickly and you can stop, rest, and enjoy the views before continuing on the path. There are some rolling hills after. We used the all trails app as you can get a little lost with all the branching trails. We ended up doing a little over 4 miles because we missed a turn. The hike was supposed to be 3.3 miles. We enjoyed the views from the top but found the old mine especially interesting. There are some signs posted regarding the history. There is a small waterfall that you can view but not access as there's, "No Tresspassing" signs. You can get close enough to snap pictures but not so close to actually touch any running water. The trail after this is very lush with plants and shade. It made for a very pretty, quick hike. For an even shorter hike you can simply to the copper creek trail (out and back) by taking the trail in the reverse direction. It does get hot out here as the majority of the hike is NOT shaded. Bring plenty of water, hat, sunscreen and shoes with good traction. We would definitely come back!

Some reviews erroneously included other trails as this trail and those pictures they posted are incorrect. If Del Mar has a crappy part of town this is probably it. This is a path along the inlet for the lagoon on the back side of the Del Mar fairgrounds. There are some close interactions with the water but there's also riff-raff around here fishing in the bushes. It's not a place I'd feel totally comfortable with the kids as this trail dumps right onto the train tracks. It's a short hike, and there are so many other places to walk around and explore that I wouldn't go out of my way to walk here. The Coast to Crest trail begins not too far from here. Recently the River Path was extended across Jimmy Durante Blvd and down San Dieguito Drive to the Old Grand Ave bridge.
