I've been going to LaPeau spa for 3 years now. I go there for their deep cleansing facials. I buy a package of 20 and each facial comes out to be about $30 per session. The treatment is a little over an hour and I come out of there fresh, clean, and relaxed. I love the facial massage and neck and shoulder massage that's incorporated into the facial treatment. Fanny is the lady I usually see and she does a great job and is very friendly too. The only negative that I've experienced is depending on which facialist/front desk person you talk to they can by pushy and want you to buy other services and or products. The place is clean and neat. One of the main reason to keep me as the member for so long because I love my beautician Michelle Chen, I can't find anyone better than her. Love her facial technic, she has a pair of magic hands that can keep my chin and neck be more firmed. My girlfriends always jealous about I don't have double chin at my age. Groupon goer with the diamond wand, manicure and pedicure. My facial went by very quickly and I did get sales pitched constantly. During my facial the lady was pushing the extra stuff and killing my relaxation. It is fancy looking, spacious though they didn't offer any drinks-not even water. And afterwards the mani pedi was ok, I didn't have to wait long and Michelle did a great job in terms of talking about neutral topics. I hate going to a nail appointment and have them nag and berate me like my mom. I went to La Peau last week for this $65 package of Diamond Peel and Mani-Padi that I bought from Groupon. My experience at La Peau was amazing! First I called for appointment for the weekend and it was all fully booked. But I got a call from them later because there was a cancellation so I could go in. The place is very easy to find, only few blocks walk when I get off at Canal Street. When I arrived, all staffs kindly greeted me. All staffs treated you like a VIP. I feel like I was in heaven. The place is very nice. I'm a picky person, but this place is extremely clean. Once I checked in, my esthetician brought me into my private room. She is very professional; she gave me decent advice for my skin. Cuz I have a lot of pimples on my face, so she gave me recommendations for treatment and product and it was fair. Moreover, I feel asleep while she gave me massage. It was very relaxing. My skin just feels so right and refresh after the facial. After the facial, I was brought to the nail room to get my nails done. Mani and Pedi was great too. The lady is very nice and good. I was happy that I got a very good deal. $65 for a facial and mani-padi, where else you can this deal? Plus, It was totally worth it. I've been wanting to get my eyebrows redone for a while, so after extensive research I ended up going to the place I had originally planned however was talked into going somewhere else....HUGE MISTAKE! I also just stop short at giving them 5 stars. This place is two steps above a nail salon in Chinatown. It's cleaner, has soft lighting and all the services you expect at higher end spa but the walls between rooms don't go all the way up and each treatment rooms can be a bit cleaner but considering the location and service I think it's decent value and worth a visit. My aesthetician Sammi was very nice and took her time with the LED part of the treatment asking if I felt any pain, etc but could have spent more time on the extractions. She gave a nice face massage during the steaming process and the shoulder massage she gave was also very good. She put in a mask after the treament and some scrub mask before the massage and LED so I was there for about 2 hours. As another yelper mentioned they do use the same cotton pad to clean your face over and over again but it's probably just the salon rules and not the aesthetician being frugal I didn't leave the "spa" seeing any real difference or firming as the laser treatment was supposed to do but will check back in a few weeks if I do. read more

This experience was so phenomenal i am now three months in at la peau spa, and refuse to go anywhere else. Tina expertise and attention to detail in conjunction with their prices, makes this the best spa in manhattan. I am so happy every time I leave. They never push me to get additional treatments, but since they have such a wide variety of things they offer, at such a great price, i usually end up doing something extra (with Tina of course). I've been going to La Peau regularly for a year now, after my friend recommended Michelle to me. She had been going to Michelle for 3 years for her facials, and thought it would help with my teenage through adulthood acne. I had the deep cleansing facial once, and saw a dramatic change to my skin: less bumps and less scarring. I had since bought an annual membership and try to fit in an appointment every two weeks with Michelle. My skin has never been better over the last 10 years, and family and friends have noticed. I wish I had known and seen Michelle sooner. If you're struggling with constant whiteheads and clogged pores that later become angry full out pimples, you need to give Michelle a try. Be warned that the deep cleansing does hurt and you will have inflammation the day of the facial. There is pinpoint scarring over the areas that were extracted on day 2, but by day 3 and 4, the skin looks great. Of course, with all irritation of the skin, there is always the risk of breaking out the days following the facial, but it has been a rare occurance for me. Although this sounds like an awful side effect of the facial, the side effects of trying to extract these pores myself have been exponentially worse in the past. I am very pleased with the results I get at La Peau with Michelle. Also give Kai, the masseuse, a try if you're having some muscle tightness of your back or legs - great strength and technique. read more

I recently came to this spa to get a microdermabrasion facial. I saw Tina, who was super knowledgeable and gentle. I suffer from a list of sensitive skin issues that she addressed. Usually I get nervous with facials as my skin becomes irritated for days after and I'm afraid to go out. I used to have tiny bumpy spots on my face (they're not acne or clogged pores and regular facial extractions do not work for these) until I came to La Peau to have them removed with soft laser. Now that my face is smooth, I am very very pleased with the results! Evelyn was the aesthetician that did the treatment for me and she was very good. It took about 20 minutes to remove over 30 bumps. After the treatment, it took about five days until the scabs came off. If you need something more than a regular facial, I highly recommend coming here. I came here starting about 3 months ago in June. I bought the package for acne facials and started coming once a week. The process was very painful but I have to say it worked. Each time I went they would prep my face then start to squeeze out all the dirt and impurities from my clogged pores. My face was as red as a tomato for the next two days each time I went but after my skin healed, it ended up looking much more beautiful and smooth. My problem was that every time I had a pimple or clogged pore, the dirt was never fully extracted and it caused recurring acne. At la peau they removed all that then placed a cooling mask and this treatment to kill the bacteria. Fast forward 3 months later, my skin is looking more beautiful than it has in a long time. I'd highly recommend anyone to go and see what other treatments they have for your skin since I got great results. I went to the flushing location. read more

I'm shocked at how many bad reviews are up here. I came with a lifebooker deal for a deep cleansing facial and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Granted, I have never had a facial in my life, so I didn't have high expectations. Fanny graciously ushered me into a room after I ungraciously arrived 20 minutes late. Yes the rooms are small and walls are a bit thin, but do you really need a large room when you're just lying on a bed with your eyes closed? And given what must be astronomical rent I think they did a fine job with the space they had. Fanny worked on me for the full 75 minutes, and massaged my face and shoulders with a million different super awesome smelling lotions and creams, as well as 2 peels, and extractions. I felt extremely relaxed and it seemed to go on forever, which was a pleasant surprise. Sure it's probably not the best facial in the city but I'd be hard pressed to find the same quality at the price they offered. read more

Not horribly impressed - I arrived early 25 minutes or so which appeared to really take them off guard. Three of them wandered around and being that it was the middle of the day and I was the only customer present I found it odd they made me wait until my appointed time. I came on a groupon for a 90 minute facial. It was what it was, they were attentive once my appointment came around. I found it odd the amount of time she spent massaging my eyes, my knowledge of beauty is that you aren't supposed to tug on that area of the eye and she did it for a long time. Kind of how you absent mindedly pet an animal she seemed to revert to "massaging" my eyes which I found odd and eventually got irritating. She did spend time doing extractions and was relentless. Another pet peeve of mine, I was in the treatment room right next to the bathroom and it was not well sound proofed so, well, you get the idea. All the conversation too and from the restroom was loud and interrupted the "relaxation experience." All in all I won't be back for a facial. Even with Groupon. read more

I had a good facial experience for the Groupon price that I paid. I'm surprised at the bitter negative reviews on Yelp. There is nowhere you can get an efficient & thorough 75min. facial in the tri-state area for $38 groupon price, except with the Chinese in Downtown! Granted, if you're looking for luxe location & service, you won't be paying less than $150; it seems like most of the Yelpers with negative reviews may be somewhat delusional and a bit mean to these hardworking Chinese. FYI: all Chinese facialists downtown will try to sell you a package, they need to hustle to feed their families when they're not paid that much here. Give them a break, just firmly say no thanks or put on earphones w/classical music, so u don't hear their pitch. I actually regret not getting their 10 facials/$380 package when I was there with my first timer groupon deal. This is the place to go if you want a thorough, affordable 75min facial w/extractions that does the job, without the coddling & little extras you'd like in more expensive spas. I just got a facial using a groupon ($53 i would have been pissed if I had paid full price) the facial is done allright but the aesthetician was not soft nor gentle at all. this is not a facial where you could fell asleep ... they are very pushy, try to sell you the pack of 10 even if you have said NO 3 times already ... I had booked a foot reflexology for spa week and expected to get pampered. Do not go to this spa expecting high end luxury. You will get a rough massage on a chair, yes a chair. Then they will massage your feet with Vaseline. Not a nice scented lotion, or anything of that quality. The masseuse took a phone call twice while I was there, and the cleanliness is questionable as another person noted. Plus when I asked to sit next to my friend she refused.
