The waitress was friendly and attentive she replaced the chips and salsa and my drinks as soon as they got low. Only one waitress, but she was very friendly and attentive. They don't have the best air conditioner so choose your seat wisely if it's hot out. Ordered the taquitos, the chicken was kind of mushy but they were crunchy and flavorful. Beans were good, rice was kind of crunchy. Chips and salsa were delicious. Salsa definitely tasted homemade. My son ordered asada nachos, it was a good portion with all the good stuff. Very reasonable prices, prompt and friendly service. I'd probably return and try some other food items. read more

My enchilada spot! Love this place. It's family owned and after a few visits they start to remember what you like and how you order. Park in the back and don't be scurred to go thru the back door. Everyone is doin it! I never see anyone use the front door. But I'm sure you can lol. Their micheladas are very refreshing. It's easy to drink one or five... don't judge me I love their chips and salsa too. It's also easy to destroy a few bowls of that before your food comes so pace yourself. Which I never do...SMH. I've never really ordered anything else off the menu. This is the only place that I order the same thing every time. Eventually, I'll venture out and try something new. Let's begin with the service, the service was excellent. The place is really small, it's clean and needs a little bit of tlc. Came here for breakfast. Ordered the omelette with cheese. Never had an omelette with "sandwich cheese" which I was pretty disappointed. Sandwich cheese simply didn't go well with my omelette, no flavor. We were starving when we got here for dinner. I was a little hesitant to try this place based on the looks of the building outside. But you know what they say, never judge a book... We walked in and sat down got menus and chips and salsa right away. Water followed soon after. Their salsa was hot! Fresh and really delicious, outstanding! Better than anything we've gotten in Salinas or the surrounding areas. Our mouths were on fire but we couldn't stop eating it. I had 2 enchiladas, 1 cheese with green sauce and 1 chicken with red sauce. The chicken was really good, seasoned just right and had diced green peppers in there. Moist and tasty. Cheese was ok. I liked both the sauces too. Husband had 2 Chili Rellenos. He said they were very good and authentic. The beans were good and the rice was just ok. Our waitress was very nice, checked on us several times but forgot about us when it came time to pay. I eventually asked her if we pay at the register or wait for our tab? Because I wasn't sure. First time here I had many questions the nice waiter sandra gave me all the info I needed. I ordered the chiva de BBQ it was really good reminded me of a home cooked meal. The plates here are like home cooked plates so the price is a bit higher than fast food Stats for the restaurant A for cleanliness A for customer service. I always door dash from this place because one of the only Mexican restaurants on door dash. I've never been here personally but the orders I get are so good. The tacos are pricey $3.55 for 1 small taco and no sides, but I usually get a burrito and it is just the right size for lunch and it's so delicious. I recommend this place but be specific in your order what you want and how you want it. For example utensils, wet or dry, etc. read more

The food was okay, I order a supreme carnitas burrito with avocados and creme but they served it on the outside of the plate not inside the burrito which is a bit weird. The burrito was mostly rice. Sorry to say but the sides were the stars here. Absolutely delicious. Those potatoes were pan-fried perfectly with the veggies. Dont get me wrong, the omelette was good as I ate every bit of it with the tortillas...the beans n papas stole the show. I asked for something that wasn't on the menu and this place delivered. We went here for lunch after driving from Sacramento to meet up to transfer some items from my grandparents' estate (this was the halfway point between us and my dad down south). My dad has a great nose for food (he has a lot of allergies) and upon sitting and tasting/smelling one of the chips, he turned to me and said, "I wouldn't eat a lot of those, the oil they used to fry them is rancid." Discovering those little hidden places is what I love. La Perla Tapatia sits at the corner of High and 13th St. It's one of those restaraunts that simply feels like home. With seven booths and four large tables, this restaraunt sits about 52 people. Options are done in or take out. The typical chips and salsa free with your meal are offered. Quiet restaraunt which has one large screen television, and a cool wall mounted touch screen jukebox. Parking lot is in the rear of the restaraunt with access from the rear and also front where there is curbside parking. The food options are plentiful and the pricing is great! You know you aren't in Bakersfield when you can go to a restaraunt and pay $8.99 for a three chile Rellenos combination plate with tortillas, chips and salsa! The chile Rellenos were delicios and the servings were large. I could only eat one chile Relleno. Btw, the rice is the best I have had from here into Mexico! I eat their shrimp tacos at least once a week and crave them the other times. The shrimp appears to be fresh (no small feat this far east in California) and they don't skimp on the shrimp on each medium sized taco. The batter is what wins in this equation--light, crispy, and well-seasoned. It comes with a mayo-based sauce, cabbage, and a tomato-based pico de gallo. Of course, all of that is on top of a fresh handmade corn tortilla. Win and win again! The chips keep this place from being 5 stars. Although delightfully and rightfully likely fried in lard (vegetable oil is bad for you, you know), they would benefit from being kept warmer. Today I ordered green chilaquiles and they were SOGGY chilaquiles. I had a horrible experience and will not be returning. It was not busy at all, but they took over 30 mins to bring out food. They also didn't have toilet paper in the bathroom. They don't come to your table to collect your money, so we walked up to the cashier and she was no where to be found. I don't think my family has ever had a problem here. The only thing I would say that's lacking is speed - though that is a two way street. The first time I ate here I dined in and ordered the enchiladas suizas combo and I was definitely satisfied! Loved the sauce, loved the rice and beans, loved the service! The most recent time I ordered over the phone and decided to be adventurous instead of ordering my usual. I ordered carne asada fries and aguachiles. First off, the aguachiles did not have good flavor and the cilantro they used was obviously old! Was there chile peppers in the sauce or just lime and cilantro? After eating the aguachiles, my breath tasted and smelt like fish which is a good sign that the shrimp was not as fresh as it should have been! Seafood is not suppose to smell or taste fishy at all. Second, the carne asada fries had nothing but fries that were probably sitting under a lamp all day, way too much cheese (and I love cheese but this was some cheap a$$ cheese), and house carne asada. I have to say that the carne asada had good flavor, but where was the guac? Sour cream? Pico de gallo? Worst carne asada fries ever! I'm giving the restaurant a 3-star because they do have other goods plates...just don't order those two items. Ever. read more
