Ugggg.... another ruined couch cushion... ...thanks Christine Y. Another successful trip to La Preferida. This time, the wait was thirty minutes, but I would wait longer knowing that they were making the corn tortillas by hand and griddling them fresh. You should know at minimum how to count in Spanish and the words "y tambien". "Dos lomo saltado por favor, y tambien tres tacos de lenguas, y dos tacos al pastor, y uno baleadas, y tambien dos pupusas revueltas. Gracias" Yeay rudimentary Spanish!

WHAT THE EFF???? La Preferida, I hate you. You have ruined all other tacos for me, for life. Thanks to your taco al pastor, my poor roommates now know what it's like to watch me orgasm. I'm eating the lomo saltado as I write this. Holy hay-soose, it's saucy, spicy, and delicioso. Really, I don't know what else to say, besides that I'm cumming back, ASAP. Because I could eat your taco, all night long. Dizzamn. You owe me a new couch seat cushion, btw.

It is fresh, because even though it is a food truck, it took 20 minutes- in which they told me in advance. However there was some tom Foolery going on, and a dude that ordered tons of food after me got his in 5. I did see the one worker blowing her nose, I hope she washed. They are slightly rude because I don't speak Spanish, plus it is hard to hear with the traffic (great for kids to play in). I went to the window, and the other woman (the cook) just stood their giving me a funny look... No she never asked what I wanted. Clearly they don't pay much attention either, the guy who got his food quickly put some money in the tip jar, and they snatched it when he was walking away. I got the pupusas (but couldn't understand which one I purchased), nor could I tell. It was pretty good until I put the Orange colored sauce on it (nasty), and the cole slaw substance with cheese in it was even worse. the seafood soup (#10) was that instant nacho cheese power extremely watered down. The soup wouldn't reach the bottom the the bowl and I only found two pieces of food until I poured off half the cheese soup. and Beef Lomo Saltado (#22) was interesting to say the least. It is basically fajita components in a sauce / soup saltier than the ocean. Then to add to the confusion they put French fries on bottom. The beef was good, the sauce could have been if they used one hundredth of the amount of salt, and the fries were the best part of the meal, except for the soggy ones in the horrible salt bath. I tried this item last (5 minutes after I got the food), and the cardboard carton was dripping through it from the sauce. I had to pour out all the juice just so I could take it home. I have traveled to several Latin countries and have to say this place is near the top of my list for terrible food. I would be extremely ticked off if I had to pay for the sloop, instead my work did.

I am upset that this place is slowly going down hill. I remember going there last year and two years ago. I live in falls church so every time I go out to Tacoma park I go and eat at this food truck. The food has always been great. But that two last times that I have gone there the food has been very upsetting. I ordered the chicken milanesa, one grilled steak, and 5 popusas. All of my food was burnt. The chicken had no flavor, and the steak felt like I was eating tar. I will definitely try to find a new place that is around that area. Who knows maybe I'll go back to this food truck in half a year if not in a year.

Most of this operation appears to be take-out. We placed a pickup order online and it was waiting for us by the time we showed up. We ordered two small chicken bowls and one "feast mode". The "feast mode" size was actually challenging for three people to finish! The "hive sauce" tastes like a honey mustard with maybe mayo? It's pretty good. I really wish Flavor Hive would have additional toppings - just cucumber tomato onion cilantro etc are quite minimal. Would be awesome if they could add something like beet salad or beans! The value at this place is excellent compared to the numerous other rice / slop bowl places in the area. It is a lot of food. This place went viral on social media for a reason, and it lives up to the hype.

Only one order (check #88) was provided at pickup. The second order (check #87) was never given to us, despite being paid for. When I called the phone number listed on both the paid receipt and from Google, I did not reach the restaurant. Instead, the call was answered by a male individual phone comes up from Vienna and did not appear to be affiliated with the restaurant staff on-site. This alone is unacceptable. The individual who answered was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Multiple witnesses overheard the conversation, which has been documented. We were not initially seeking a refund -- only verification of the missing order and whether it could still be picked up. There was zero effort to assist, no accountability, and no urgency to resolve the issue. This level of disorganization and lack of customer service is unacceptable for any restaurant. If Flavor Hive continues to operate this way -- including routing customer calls to unprofessional third parties -- it will absolutely damage the business and its reputation.

We were sat right away and I was surprised at how big the restaurant is (way bigger than it looks from the outside!). I started with a hibiscus margarita, which was delicious. Then we ordered a few things to split, including: guac and tostadas, charred cabbage, gorditas with chorizo, aguachile negro, and the beef short rib platter. The charred cabbage was the biggest sleeper hit. It was so flavorful and unlike anything I've ever had before. Everything else was delicious, although the aguachile was probably my least favorite of what we tried. We finished with the rose water tres leches and the dulce de leche crepes. The tres leches were pretty good but the crepes were amazing. I don't usually love dulce de leche, but it was definitely a standout.

If you are planning to visit during popular dining hours, it might be worth it to make a reservation. We arrived during a weekend around 5:30 pm, and the place was somewhat empty. However, by 6-6:15 pm, the place was PACKED. I was a very surprised (in a good way) that the menu was a bit smaller compared to other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. I necessarily do not think the smaller menu is a bad thing because, with a smaller menu, a restaurant can focus on preparing everything well (i.e., it's easier to do a good job with 20-item menu versus a 50+-item menu). For my dining pleasure, I went with the enchiladas suizas with a few margaritas. Overall, I thought my plate was very delicious; however, other diners at my table and I noticed that the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. Perhaps, the restaurant uses higher quality ingredients for its dishes. Although the margarita sizes might appear to be small, they definitely are not "small" in power/punch, so the $13-$18 price range is appropriate. My favorite margarita of the night definitely was the El Jardinero, which was a wonderful mix of carrot, cilantro, peach, lime and a semi-spicy pepper of sorts. Collectively, we all thought the service was exceptional because our waitress constantly visited the table. Personally, I thought it was a bit overkill, but that's a very, very minor complaint based on my very, very personal preference.
