I went last Saturday since it is known as Hudson Valley's best Mexican restaurant and it was a disappointing and a terrible experience with poor quality. Here is a snapshot of the downfalls: 1. Our guacamole had a piece of hair in it and we asked for another one still skeptical of what else could be in it. 2. The sangria was not flavorful or tasty. I could have made better sangria. 3. They spilled water all over the floor and on our table. As our waitress was giving us our drinks, she did not know how to balance the tray and everything flipped over before dinner even started. 4. As they were taking utensils and plates away, the waitress was clumsy yet again and almost dropped the fork on my boyfriend. 5. My mom ordered the seafood paella and it was more like seafood soupy rice. Maybe I am used to the NYC standards of high quality restaurants, but I would not recommend this spot. Love this place!!! One of my favorite restaurants in the area. Margaritas are made perfectly. Try anything on their menu and you won't be disappointed. Within the past year or so, they hired a new chef and what he added to the restaurant is beyond words. I love their pork or veggie tacos, usually I get 2 of each. BBQ pork quesadilla is delicious. Try adding steak to any of the salads - cooked amazing and you can tell it's high quality beef!! Even something as simple as their salsa is perfection, flavorful and bright. You can tell that there is thought put into all their dishes. The staff is friendly and the owner is a great guy. If you're thinking about checking this place out, or have been here in the past and are thinking about giving it another shot - do it! You're missing out if you don't! Amazing food. read more

The steak taco is just okay. It wasn't a busy night but the service is AWFUL! The waiter forgot my water. He didn't come to my table ~10 minute after I finished my meal (he was using his phone in the corner). After he got my card. He went to do other stuff and I have to wait for another ~5 minutes to sign. read more

I wouldn't go as far as saying this is great* Mexican food.. It's a run of the mill, American version of it. There are many places I've gone that have much better food, and aren't owned by a Greek with dollar signs in his eyes. The salsa is pretty good, they have good beer on tap (goose, harpoon, keegan ale, etc.) The fancy interior with waterfall and snazzy decor doesn't mean it's worth the higher prices. Raffi made my mom's 91st birthday a joy for her, his warmth and care for his customers is apparent in his every word - by far the best restaurant of any menu type in this area. I was visiting friends in the area and desperately craving breakfast. Having experienced the horrors of Millbrook diner, I was determined to find something a little different. Well, this place is certainly different. First of all, it's huge. The decor is... interesting... lots of tile and waterfalls and other silliness. Don't get me wrong, it's cute. There's nothing wrong with a nice suburban restaurant trying to add a bit of character to their space. Brunch was good. I'm spoiled by Brooklyn brunches, and I was pretty satisfied. Good chips and salsa to start with. The huevos rancheros were gigantic and well prepared. The bloody mary was HUGE and really strong. It was oddly deserted at brunch time, which took away from the experience a bit. I don't like crowded places, but being the only diner is always somewhat awkward. read more

Great Mexican food. We went there Friday, January 2, 2015. We arrived to a trio playing very cool music. The bar and restaurant were busy. A very nice crowd. Kids dancing round and near the trio. Our friends were already at the bar. We were pleasantly greeted by Amanda who checked our coats. The Cadillac Tequila on the rocks with salt is GREAT. We then we're seated in a spacious booth. We had great guacamole with fresh chips and salsa. I had portabella mushrooms with shrimp with veggies, fajitas and all condiments, all very fresh. Our friends had a chrizo with shrimp rositto. The fresh food, great service, the ambiance and the flow of drinks made two hours pass by too quickly. I would highly recommend checking this restaurant. I know that we'll be there again. My girlfriend and I stopped here for a bite to eat after googling decent looking places not far off the taconic, expecting to grab a quick bite to eat and be on our way. We were however absolutely impressed at both the quality of the food and the all around service. Our 'quick bite to eat' turned into a 3 course meal with drinks as everything we ordered continued to amaze us. The tacos were extraordinarily flavorful and the skirt steak fajitas turned out to be the best skirt steak I've ever tasted. And to top off the awesome food, our server Samuel provided us with impeccable service, making great suggestions and ensuring our satisfaction. Even the buss boy was polite and on top of everything. Usually love the food. Been here multiple times and have gotten items to go frequently. On many occasions when ordering the Tableside guacamole, it has been a reasonable amount. Last night, the quantity was so little, and I was very disappointed. When one pays $16.22 including tax solely for guacamole, one would expect a reasonable amount of food. We stumbled upon this gem after spending the day at Orvis. From minute one the five of us were impressed. The drinks came out quick and icy cold, the salsa that came with the chips was different and great and the guacamole. was lights out. Our waiter (turned out to be the owner) walked us through the entire menu and one entry was better than next. The baja shrimp and blackened mahi mahi were to die for. Stoped here on our way home from out of town for the weekend. Great spot! The food was delicious and a very nice atmosphere. They make they're corn and flour tortillas fresh everyday and they are delicious. Best salsa I have ever had. I came here on the 4th of July, and the place was hopping! We were greeted warmly at the door- and proceeded to have an excellent meal (don't miss out on their addictive guacamole- prepared table side). I ordered a steak "carne", and was pleasantly surprised when the chef, himself, came to check on it being cooked to my liking. This Canadian boy was wowed! So - Where do I start ? Food is not great. Service is AWFUL! My guest & I ordered food at the same time . I received my food 10 minutes after my guest!!!!! What the heck. That is waitressing 101. Second visit - just for drinks 7:30 on a Sunday - the bartender was nowhere to be found . Me and my husband went in at around 2:30 for lunch. The waitress turned her back to us as soon as we walked in the door. We were about to walk out when a nice waiter came over and sat us. We were starving and downed our chips and salsa our horrible rude waitress the one who turned our back to us we were stuck with she walked by 4 times and never asked if we need anything or offered to refill chips while we wait. We waited at least 45 mins for food and there were only 2 other couples in there. We paid $45 for lunch that had no flavor. My husbands chimichanga had no flavor at all. This restaurant is located directly off the Taconic. It has a little outdoor patio with umbrellas, that overlooks the parking lot. We arrived on a holiday weekend and it was fairly empty. The server was very friendly. Chips and salsa are included in the meal. The salsa tasted house made but unfortunately our chips were a bit soft/stale. We had chicken enchiladas- desperately needed cheese inside and the chiles rellenos- breaded with something dry and flavorless. The presentation was very pretty for each dish, but it was very bland food for the price. If you are looking for very good Mexican food, grab it at the El Azteca grill in the town. It does not serve alcohol, but it's very authentic and delicious. read more

Yes, there are many pretty things to look at. But the food is mediocre at best. The entrees were ok but way over priced. Maybe it could have been our server's fault that they were a only a little hotter than room temp. They might have been sitting in the window for a while. The guacamole was really good but not worth $12. In my opinion any Mexican restaurant that makes it's salsa from canned tomatoes shouldn't be serving it. Their salsa, although complimentary, was terrible. I didn't try their margaritas because I guess I was kind of put off when I saw them being poured from the Slurpee machine behind the bar. My advice? If you dont really care about indoor waterfalls and shiny bathrooms, Chili's has about the same quality food for half the price. read more

If I could only give a 1/2 a star..........We WERE big fans of the Azul and stopped by for dinner and drinks a few times a month. Especially enjoying the bar and the bands that would come in. But with the change in executive chef........the food has gone WAY DOWNHILL. It used to be great but now horrible. My husband couldn't even eat two bites of his appetizer. Quality of beef is poor and quality of food in general has dropped way off. We loved this place but after several times with the new chef....it is no longer a coincidence. Went back tonight to give it one last chance, and so happy we did! The menu had been redone and revamped, and looked much more visually pleasing than the dirty old ones from before, but kept the same food, which had been quite good the last time we had come. Service was quick and attentive, a HUGE improvement from our last visits. Luciano was an amazing server, friendly personable and remembered exactly what each of us were drinking when he asked us if we wanted another round (my margarita is a little specific with the tequila I request and I HATE salt on the rim and he remembered it all so kudos to him). All the other servers we saw interacting with tables around us also seemed much friendlier and happier to be there than servers we had seen on previous visits. I'm not sure if the place is under new management or what, but it was a much better experience than we had ever had, and as we live right down the road, we will be sure to be back now that the service has so greatly improved! read more

We thought the food was very mediocre and bland. Dinner for two was 77.00 for Mexican/fusion I expected it to at least be tasty. French fries were worse than the diner, tortilla chips stale (even after we complained and got a second batch), the salsa was tasteless and they charged 4.00 for a cup of rice. The tres leches was an embarrassment of a cake. The only reason I am giving it two stars is because the mojito was very good and my shrimps were not over cooked.
