Nice Mexican restaurant across the street from the FDR Presidential Library- very convenient ! Large restaurant , with large parking lot. Service was good. There was a section on the menu for vegetarian dishes, although it was difficult to crest your own. They put on the table warm chips, salsa and a bean dip that is fantastic ! ( we asked for more). Portions were good and tasty. Large bar area and is probably a fun atmosphere at night !

Very delicious Mexican food with great service in a nice space with ample parking. The chips and salsa opener was special and delicious! The salsa was super fresh and more of a pico and it came with this AMAZING bean dip. Wowwww I could have ordered a whole bowl of that bean dip. The fajitas were sizzling and the arroz con pollo was fun and different than I was expecting. They have kids menu with Mexican and American food so picky eaters have a bunch of choices. Beautifully decorated for Halloween when we went. Ambiance was really on point. Service from our waitress with the nose ring was lovely! She was fast, competent, professional and polite. Side note: besides lunch and dinner, it also has a great bar and happy hour during the week from 2pm-6pm.

Well here I am again... The appetizer as always DELICIOUS make sure you get the frijoles it's the best with the queso fresco and pico de gallo I can't express how delicious. I came prepared to have birria again BUT no! Did you see my plate? It is DELICIOUS. Today is Mother's Day and it is extremely busy however the staff is always so attentive and not just your waitress or waiter but just EVERYONE! As soon as I came in Catrina said do you mind sitting with us at the bar? I said no that fine 3 different staff members tended to me! The staff from before recognized me and said glad you are back. The cleanliness of this place is like no other, the soft music in the background is so relaxing. Really 10 out of 10. BTW Nohemi is a wonderful bartender. The vibe here is so welcoming

1st time trying LaCatrina will not be my last. I figured ok typical Mexican food, oh boy I was so wrong. Or maybe I haven't been eating at quality Mexican restaurants. My wife got a Classico Mojito and I had a Modelo draft. Both superb chips and salsa and refried beans came out first complimentary of course. We got the Camerones de ajo appetizer and that was the size of an entree. Excellent flavor and plump shrimp. I ordered a Fajita Quesadilla with shrimp. This blew me away the flavor and combination was simply amazing. See the photos below if you leave hungry something is wrong with you!!. I will be back more often. Nice sized bar with plenty of margaritas to choose from. Staff was very nice and welcoming. I'm actually writing this review in the restaurant at the end of my meal and all of a sudden the entire staff comes out with a candle with ice cream singing happy birthday to my wife in Spanish it was unbelievably unrehearsed but much appreciated. This is what exceeding expectations is all about.. Food service ambiance 10/10.

    Food!!!! Yummy and plentiful

Delicious food and drinks! Had so much fun too!! A little expensive but honestly it was worth it and the employees were really awesome!

It's Cinco de Mayo and the New Mexican restaurant in town is open. We gotta go right?!! Our wait was 40 minutes but honestly it's a special Mexican holiday and everyone has margaritas and tacos in the brain. There's actually a ton of tables so it's fine. I'm glad they're doing well. The waitstaff is SUPER busy but everyone is nice and friendly. Many different people checked on us and it was great. The usual chips and salsa came to the table and they also brought refried beans! I really like beans. It's that little bit extra that goes a long way. The salsa was watery. Next are the giant margaritas...delicious with a decent pour. I like that too. I ordered the La Catrina enchiladas. It came with three: one cheese with tomatillo sauce, one chicken with mole sauce and the third was ground beef with a cheese sauce. Normally I'm picky about mole sauce but I'm happy to report its delicious. The enchiladas are stuffed well and they're generous with the sauces. The only thing is my cheese enchilada was not all goey and melty. Their rice is delicious...perfect temperature and flavorful. I can't wait to return when it's a little quieter (due to everyone going out in Cinco de Mayo.

After a full day of visiting both The FDR Home and The Vanderbilt Home, we started to build an appetite. Never been to the are before, we had no idea what to have for dinner and where to go. Thanks to our friends at @yelp we found that La Catrina had great reviews and got into our budget. Long story short, we're glad we stopped in for dinner. Yum! We ordered the $10 Sunday special Nachos, Whole Fried Tilapia, and Las Tres Catrinas Fajita. I can only describe our dinner as having Huge portions with surprising fresh/bold flavors. My only issue was with the service. While, everyone was very friendly, our waiter seemed very distracted. Our food came out very quickly... In fact, appetizers and dinner came out at the same time; which is a big no-no in my books. We had to flag down other waiters to get service, which was a little annoying when we can see our own waiter on the phone at the bar. Also - when we were ready to check out, he took a really long time to get our credit card back. Other than that, the food was great and I'll definitely come back again. My friends and I were visiting the nearby Vanderbilt house and when I looked at CIA there was a 11:45 am opening left at Bocuse and I snagged it. CIA students alternate between doing the cooking and doing the serving at the CIA restaurants. Since we went in February, it was $30 each for a three course meal. It's $45 starting in mid April. We started off with freshly baked rolls and artisanal butter which was delicious and they asked us throughout the meal if we wanted more. For my first course I chose the garlic and butter drenched escargot which was deliciously marinated. Then I had the chicken in cream sauce with potato purée. Delicately delicious. And lastly my four layer chocolate in a glass had different chocolate and other flavors at each layer point. Overall a feast for the senses. Our student servers were charming and patient. They answered all our questions about their study. I look forward to trying additional CIA restaurants- they have Italian, New American and more. La Bocuse is a must try next time you're in the area.

Instead, we found a culinary gem. The space is spectacular -- bright, open, and surrounded by relaxing river ambiance. We began our evening on the outdoor balcony, but a sudden thunderstorm dropped a tsunami of rain prompting a quick relocation into the equally welcoming main dining room. Our waiter, a charming young man from Hungary, gave us an excellent primer on the menu, which expertly balanced accessible staples with high-end luxury (creeping all the way up to an eye-popping $155 Wagyu steak special -- there were only 15 servings available for the night we later found out). As Port lovers, we were floored by the beverage options. Living outside of Philadelphia, we're used to restaurants offering one or two uninspired Tawnys. Shadows boasts an embarrassment of riches. Our waiter candidly confessed Port wasn't his forte and quickly dispatched the sommelier, Enrique. The fluid, passionate back-and-forth that followed was incredible; we learned more about wine in five minutes with Enrique than in decades of traveling. We gladly handed him the steering wheel for the rest of the night. Because we were celebrating my birthday, we went all in. My wife crossed caviar off her bucket list and tried the delectable octopus -- a substantial steak rather than the usual fried bits at most establishments. After some enabling from my wife, I went temporarily insane and ordered the Wagyu. As frequent diners, it was the priciest plate I've ever ordered, and it was worth every single penny. From the kitchen's flawless execution to exceptional hospitality that extended from the GM to the bus staff, the evening was perfect. Yes, we dropped a small fortune, but entirely by choice -- the menu accommodates nearly all budgets. We left feeling like we made out like bandits because the memories were priceless. Several times during dinner I literally felt envious of the locals. I hope they realize what a treasure they have in their midst.

I found mixed results with the food. The flatbread appetizer and cheesecake dessert was very good. I ordered steak as my entree and the server asked if I wanted it cooked rare, medium, or well done. I asked for medium rare and she said they couldn't do that. What kind of high end restaurant can't cook a steak medium rare? I found the cut I received to be way too overcooked. If you're looking for a place with a great view, stop by. Just don't order steak.

After we walked in one of the waitresses informed us that we can sit wherever we want. I instantly felt like I was inconveniencing her with my presence by the way she said it. Didn't take it personal just yet. What appeared to be the hostess came over a few minutes after we sat down and handed us menus that were very dirty. I looked at my husband and said I am ready to walk out of this place bc I am starving and it looks like they are too short staffed right now which is understandably out of a businesses control sometimes. But wait, instead of the waitress coming to our table to bring water or ask us if we would like a drink, she went to another table with a man and a child that she obviously knew well, and started eating their french fries and talking. That's when we decided to leave and spend our money elsewhere. So unprofessional. That couldn't wait? I hate to leave a review like this, but if I was the owner of this business, I would not want someone like that working for me, representing what seems to be a great place.
