I originally stopped by Osteria Monti to buy a bottle of wine, but when I saw the menu I decided I needed to come back for dinner. It's a very quaint restaurant, with absolutely fantastic local dishes, and local wines abs grappa. The atmosphere is great, it's not lake front, but the interior is very modern and clean, and the back patio has a great view of the mountains. The service was FANTASTIC! The owner / chef was present when I purchased the bottle of wine, and he couldn't have been more knowledgeable and pleasant. The two girls that served us had great personality and charm. Sometimes a restaurant can have terrible food but great service, and you still walk away happy. This restaurant had the BEST of the both. The food from start to finish was absolutely delicious. Fresh, flavourful and very well presented. A tartare appetizer with a regular salt, smoked salt and spicy salt, along with an avacado mousse, and aged Parmigiano. How can you go wrong from here? I'm not going to describe every item I had because I don't want to ruin restaurant goers from trying something other than what write about. Go here! Try everything! You will not regret it. Buon appetito!

Overall we had an absolutely fantastic experience of dining at La Vista Restaurant. This restaurant…read moreis located at the hotel Albergo in Milano. This was the hotel we were staying at so it was super easy to make a reservation with the hostess. The restaurant has one of the best views in Varenna. It overlooks all of Lake Como. The staff was extremely friendly, spoke English very well, and was very attentive to our needs. I went with the four course meal option, which was priced very affordable. Started off with the tomato mozzarella, the gnocchi was second, steak was my entrée, and chocolate mousse as my dessert. The entire table shared a bottle of wine, and we ended with espresso martinis. Everything was really good, I wouldn't say it was the best food I've ever had in my life, but it was good for the views, the price, the service, and the atmosphere. My only complaint is that I asked for a medium rare steak, and I got a well-done steak. If you want your steak, cooked, medium or medium rare, make sure you really harp on the fact to cook it correctly. I didn't complain or say anything because I was extremely hungry and it was starting to get late. We were the last ones to leave the restaurant, they let us stay on the balcony until midnight to continue drinking and having conversation. I know if I come back to Varenna this will be on my absolute must list. Pros: views, service, prices, experience Cons: overcooked meat

The views were spectacular and the service was exceptional, the food was good just like all other food we had in Lake Como. You are paying for the view and a decent meal to go with it, and that's what the food was: decent with a heavy price tag. I would go back just because I love the hotel so much, but I will not be expecting a culinary masterpiece to die for here.

Sometimes Michelin rated means dropping a few hundred francs for a beautiful atmosphere while still feeling hungry... A group of us ordered various dishes and every single dish I have eaten/tried are simply very fresh, ingredients meticulously blended, and nicely decorated. They even proudly claim their local tomato served in their tomato/mozzarella dish is the best - and amazingly it really tasted as if it was freshly picked. The serving sizes are perfect and I'd recommend ordering from their menu of the day - you get a special pricing based on how many dishes from the selection you want to order, and this ensures you are eating the freshest dishes from the menu. With pasta cooked and seasoned to perfection, lamb that is perfectly cooked, fresh succulent tomatoes, perfectly cooked risotto served with local egli filet, one can't go wrong eating here. The service is very helpful and the chef comes out to meet everyone after the meal. Set your GPS and find this place. It's located on a small corner across from the Migros Garden and Coop - so not too hard to find. Reasonably priced meal for a Michelin listed restaurant.

We had lookd at all the different places where one could redeem that voucher and this place looked like the best one to do that. Even the cabin crew of the train ate here. Service is great. The waitress was also fluent in German and English which is very practical. Wine recommendation was also very nice. The food was amazing. We all ate Pizzoccheri della Valtellina because we had a voucher for this meal. We got a mixed salad to start and a complimentary bread basket which even got refilled. The Pizzoccheri tasted amazing, was super creamy and cheesy. Very delicious. For dessert I had set my mind on the Consistenze al Caffee because I had seen pictures of it online. And it was everything I had hoped for and even more. It was a sort of cake with several layers of chocolate and coffee flavoured dough and spreads. On top there was frozen coffee with the consitence of a slushy. The different consistencies harmonized very well. All that was sprinkled with chocolate droplets, cacao and powdered sugar. Probabyl the best dessert I habe ever had. I also tried a spoon of the Creme Brulee which was nice and cracky on the top and super rich and smooth underneath. And also very nicely decorated. The location is very hidden in a back alley and you don't really see how big the restaurant is from the outside. It's set inside multiple old stone cellars. There's multiple rooms inside which all feel very warm and luxurious. Now considering that the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you get, this has to be one of the best restaurants ever period.
