If royalty means being treated like you're in grandma's kitchen, La Pupusa Queen wears the crown proudly. The place is cozy, decked out with a charming El Salvador vibe, and you can smell the griddled masa magic before you even order. I went for the obvious--the pupusas. Freshly made, warm, with that golden char that whispers "I've been kissed by the griddle." The fillings were tasty, the sauces added the right zing, but... let's just say I left still feeling like I could've pulled a "Queen's encore." These are definitely "snack pupusas" rather than "skip-dinner pupusas," so if you've got a big appetite, order extra or bring a backup plan. Still, flavor-wise, La Pupusa Queen delivers exactly what the name promises--simple, homey, and made with love. Just don't expect to leave feeling like you conquered the royal feast

Excellent seasoning of the food, cash price is lower than credit card. Service is very attentive. Authentic cooking so it will take a little while but so worth it! A small location with outdoor dining. This was a Sunday afternoon meal.

The service was excellent. This family is so friendly and warm. I felt like I was with friends. The food was wonderful. We had different Pupusas, pollo loco and a Chicken special of the day. The flavors were stupendous. Everything was very fresh. I highly recommend it.

What an awesome addition to the downtown Lake Placid food scene. The staff is on point and the food explodes with flavor. The El Salvador sandwich is one of the most flavorful sandwiches I've had in years. This place is a must try

Tasty, freshly prepared food. I can't o restate how delicious it is. My pupusas were so good I got two more for home. The blackberry juice was fresh and refreshing, perfect for a hot day. The service was excellent, the gentleman at the front was kind and very attentive. The ambiance was welcoming, cozy, and felt like home Overall, 11/10 stars would recommend.

This is a perfect place to go for a quick tasty snack. We were in Lake Placid and I was excited to see this place. I love pupusas which are corn like pancakes filled with your choice of yummy ingredients. We chose a potato and cheese and a chicken and cheese. They are so good especially with the traditional Cole slaw it's served with. We sat outside under the shade and this snack kept us full for quite some time when we were out and about. So glad we tried it. Give this little spot a try. They have a good number of tasty options!! They are super sweet and welcoming too!

Never had a pupusa before coming here. They rocked my socks. Great comfort food, you'll need a nap after eating here.

My last visit to my favorite pupuseria was not up to par, unfortunately. The plates were visibly…read moredamaged, with melted burned plastic visible, and no wrapper in between the food and the plate. The cheese on the pupusas was visibly not melted, despite dining in. The slaw also looked less than appealing- it seemed like a different combo than I am used to here- but also just looked old. On the upside, my son loved trying his first pupusa (without slaw). Service was wonderful, and I love supporting local businesses. I can see from my previous photos that the plates were ceramic. Maybe it was an off night?

After reading an updated review from Sr. CM West Palm, Melodie M, we just had to come here for…read morelunch to try their pupusas while in the area. In fact, I'd never had a pupusa when some time back I read another review from Melodie and decided to try them. We found a Pompano Beach restaurant near our other residence that we frequent with Salvadorean food and have now visited often. When we came in, I guess they could tell we were "gringos", so they switched servers to one with better English. But we usually can get by with our school Spanish okay. Most people dining here were Spanish speaking, but you should be comfortable if you don't know the language. My husband decided to have a pupusa with beef and cheese along with a salad. The salad came out first. It was a plate of lettuce with tomatoes and cucumbers and some ranch dressing. His pupusa came with coleslaw. And they put a container of thin red sauce on the table for us to share. He said he thought the pupusa was good. He also got a passion fruit drink, medium size, to have with his meal. I had to try the "squash flower" one (per Melodie's review) so I ordered the loroco pupusa. I looked this up to see what these flower buds looked like. As mentioned online, this unique green vegetable was a bit crunchy and reminded me of a broccoli stalk or asparagus spear. But it is unique to El Salvador and used in Salvadorean cooking in many different ways. There was more cheese than loroco in the pupusa. It was fine. I'm glad I tried it. But I also ordered a "mixed" pupusa (revueltas) of pork, beans, and cheese and this one was the better tasting of the two, I thought. Of course, I put the slaw on top of the pupusa and sauce on top of that (as I'd learned from Melodie) and that really makes the whole experience in one delicious bite. I didn't realize how large the pupusas would be, so I'd also ordered a coctail de camarones. Not to be confused with an American shrimp cocktail, I'd had these when they've been made like shrimp ceviche or like the one I had here. The cooked shrimp was mixed in a remoulade dressing (mayo based) and topped with pico de gallo and avocado pieces. It was very good. It was served in a sundae glass. And came with a package of crackers, as well. Now that we've come here to try their pupusas, I'd also like to try one of their signature soups and other meal specials. Prices are quite reasonable. Please note: This isn't fast food as everything is cooked to order, so just be prepared if you're really hungry for a short wait.

This is a small family operated shop everyone was friendly and our server kindly answered our questions. There are a few tables to dine in, with plates and flatware; not paper and plastic. I had cheese pupusas, cabbage salad and plantains. For those who don't know I would describe pupusa as a hot sandwich it looks similar to a pita bread but is made of corn flour. It's filled with choices of meat, beans, and cheese. I will be back with non vegetarian family to try more options. The cheese pupusa was hot and Delicias as promised! cabbage salad was basically a creamy coleslaw. Some pickled cabbage also came with the pupusa. Both were very good. Plantains were sliced thin and fried, sweet and ripe, they were served with a rich cream sauce. Pickled onions were also offered we they were very good but I don't eat onions. My SO had a breakfast of eggs, corn tortilla, large slice of white cheese, refried beans and plantains. He ate all the beans and made an egg sandwich with the rest. This might not be the traditional way to eat a Salvadoran breakfast but he enjoyed it. He also had a house salad which he said was very fresh. I will be telling others to try this spot!

At the end, one lady came with a portable card reader without even bringing a bill first -- she just said 'it's $93.' When we asked for the check, they took a long time to come back. When she finally did, she gave us $5 back saying she had overcharged for the pupusas. However, after reviewing the prices listed on the menu, the total was still incorrect. I pointed it out, and she admitted the system prices are different and not updated to match the menu, but said she couldn't do anything about it. I reminded her they should honor menu prices, but she simply said 'yes, but I can't.' Very unprofessional and honestly felt sneaky. We will not be returning. Make sure to double-check your bill carefully! No volveremos.
