Service is a little slow but food was decent. Prices are great and happy to have a Central American restaurant on this side of town

Everything I had was super flavorful and the prices are very reasonable. I had a port tamale. It was unusual in that it was bone in, but it was the best and msot flavorful tamale I've ever had. Just pure goodness. The tamale "pisque" is black bean filled. It's kind of an unusual flavor. There are lots of traditional dishes from El Salvador here like fried yucca which is actually fried yucca with fried pork pieces. They also have some agua fresca type beverages like horchata as well as hot drinks like Atol de Elote which is a corn based hot beverage. They also have Atol de Pin(y)a which is a pineapple version. I've been to Pupuseria Centro Americana and for me this place is ten times better. It's UBER casual Acapulco Grocery style eatery in a grocery store with several tables and a tv. The checkout lady was very nice and helpful and spoke English. Fellow customers are also friendly and happy to share their culture. The cooks who work at the hot food / bakery area and counter no hablan ingles. While you're here you can pick up some tasty snacks, unusual sodas, frozen tropical fruit pulps (hello smoothies!!!) and other goodies. This place rocks. The bakery items are only $1 each, no joke, so try one of everything. :) :) :) Gracias a Dios!!!!!

I really enjoy the food here, and the prices are great, so it's disappointing to leave this rating. I've been here a few times, but this visit left a bad impression. When I checked my receipt, I noticed I was charged $1.98 for a bottled water I didn't order. When I asked about it, the cashier, Jose, first said it was for ice. When my wife asked for clarification, he changed his answer, saying it was for filtered tap water--$1.00 for the water and $0.98 for tax. The food is excellent, but be sure to check your bill before paying. Unfortunately, it seems like overcharging customers is acceptable here.

Next to pupusas, soup and other Salvadoran foods, they have sandwiches, breakfasts and other menu items that would be more at home on a diner menu than a Salvadoran restaurant menu. Since I am pretty much obsessed with pupusas, I went with three pupusas. They were fairly priced at three dollars a piece. The ordering process is relatively straightforward. You go to the counter and place your order. When it is ready, they bring it to your table. My pupusas were brought to me with the expected slaw and sauce. I find that the best pupusas that I have had here in this country were in Nashville, Tennessee and I found some great pupusas at a flea market on Orange Blossom Trail here in Orlando, Florida, but comparing it to other pupusas that I have tried here in Orlando (other than the ones at the OBT Flea Market), they were good. Not great, not the type that would haunt my dreams, but good. If you are looking for a local place, this place is not a bad place. Not great, but overall decent. Overall, I will give it four stars.
