Clean hotel. Much nicer than other La Quinta hotels that I've stayed at. The front desk staff was friendly. The hotel is pet friendly. There's a pet relief area, with dog waste bags available. The hotel is right next to a gas station/liquor. There are several restaurants & a Starbucks within walking distance. Upon first arrival, the parking lot might seem rather small. However, there is also parking available on the S/SW part of the hotel. The hotel staff was plating breakfast meals due to COVID. Two complaints: The pillows are mediocre. Also, I've stayed at this La Quinta several times. During one stay, the heat & A/C unit worked great. The other stay, it didn't work properly. read more

(1/5) - Editing my previous 5-star review I stayed at this La Quinta last year during a cross-country Christmas road trip and had a perfectly fine experience- this year. WOW. After a 24-hour drive from Seattle, I arrived to find an empty, lifeless lobby--no fireplace, no other guests, and even the small retail counter was completely bare. The only staff member present appeared very young and visibly unprofessional, with hickeys covering her neck. I had my ID and credit card ready and simply mentioned that I was a returning guest and asked for the best available room rate. That should have been straightforward. Instead, I stood waiting for about 15 minutes before she told me she needed to call her boss. When I asked if there was a problem, she explained that it was her first day, she didn't know what she was doing, and that she had been left alone at the front desk. That was the breaking point. After an exhausting drive, I wasn't interested in being someone's training exercise. I asked for my card back and left to stay elsewhere. This experience points to one thing: poor management. Leaving an untrained employee alone to run an entire hotel--especially during the holidays--is unacceptable. It's disappointing, because I've historically had good experiences with La Quinta and expected better. Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this location. read more

The hotel is fairly modern and mostly clean and the front desk staff was friendly, if not helpful. That's where the good ends. The little things (mostly annoyances that you would expect at a Motel 6/Super8 for a much cheaper price): - Booking sites show pictures of a water slide that no longer exists. Would not have booked if I had known this, as there were other options for the same price with better accommodations. - Parking lot is insufficient for hotel capacity. If you have a large vehicle, you will most likely have to park at the south side of the property behind the gas station if the hotel is busy (more on this later) - TV remote didn't work with Dish box. Could turn TV on and off and adjust volume, but not open TV app or change channels/etc. Thankfully, my company is a Dish partner and I know how to reprogram the remote. I have no confidence I could have gotten the staff to figure it out. - Shower curtain was installed incorrectly (too high), making it impossible to seal to the tub and keep water off the bathroom floor. - Tile work was shotty and bathroom fan only worked intermittently. - Breakfast was decent, but waffle/pancake station is ~40ft from the rest of the food options. Had another guest not pointed this out, it would have been easy to miss completely. The things that matter: - The aforementioned parking situation is completely shielded from view from any public spaces and not well lit. This is inherently dangerous, but something I would normally overlook. In this case, it did lead to our vehicle being broken into overnight. This is not the fault of the hotel but was a byproduct of the poor parking situation. They even have signs warning you to lock your doors and they aren't responsible for theft, so the thought isn't foreign to them. - We alerted the front desk to the situation and requested to see camera footage from the camera above the door on that side of the building (30ft from our vehicle) to either see the act occur or confirm that we did not mistakenly bring the missing items into the hotel. At first, we were told we would have to wait for a manager to access the system. We never did see a manager, but at the time we were asked to check back, were told that the camera in question does not work. After further questioning about other camera angles, it was revealed that NONE of the cameras work, and haven't been accessible since the 'new' owners took over two months ago. This is completely unacceptable for guest safety and the fact it hasn't been addressed already should tell you everything you need to know about the direction of this hotel. I expect it will go downhill quickly. Learn from our experience and choose one of the many other options. read more

I was fined $250 for having a Chihuahua. When I told the front desk attendant when I checked in that I had a dog but I was still fined my bill was almost $400. Taking off my credit card. This is ridiculous. We've called the manager and the manager. After 5 calls. Still won't accept our call ridiculous. read more

Do not stay here!!! Zero stars but I had to put 1 to be able to post this: Upon checking in, my daughter and I went upstairs with our cart of luggage and when we checked in and started to unpack, I noticed there wasn't a remote for the TV. We looked around, looked in drawers, looked in the bathroom, looked in the closet. When I returned the cart to the lobby, I told the manager at that point, we could not find the remote. He said that was impossible because they had safeguards and check points in place to make sure that didn't happen. So I told him to come up to the room to look for himself. I went upstairs and checked the room even more closely, even checking under the bed before he got there. That is when I found a used tampon under the bed. I took a photo. When he arrived. I pointed that out and he said there's no way. So I turned on my flashlight on my phone and shined it under the bed. He crawled under the bed, and in fact it was a used tampon. He grabbed some tissue from the bathroom and then threw it on the toilet and flushed. He then left to go get another remote. My daughter went into the bathroom and it hadn't gone down so she asked me and I told her to close the lid and flush several times to make sure it was gone. He came back and the remote didn't have batteries. He offered to refund our stay. It was time for bed so he left and we went to sleep. We went downstairs the next day to go to my daughter's soccer game at 7:40am and he mentioned something about changing rooms, but that never happened once we returned late afternoon. We stayed there until the next morning and then we went home. I called on Monday the 10th and left a message for the manager to call me back. Nobody called me back so I called on March 17 and we discussed why he hadn't called me back and she hung up on me after telling me he'd refunded me. I told her he had not. I checked. He has not. I called back and she put me on hold. I hung up and called the president of our soccer organization and left a message. I called back and she hung up on me several more times. One time saying her manager wasn't there as I could hear him coaching her in the background. I called back again and another male (kid?) answered. He also wouldn't answer my questions and finally the manager finally came on the phone and repeatedly used obscenities (and one point he said I was too f%$king stupid to understand) and was yelling so loud into the phone that it was crackling and I couldn't understand him. I told him that. He then hung up. I then called the travel agent/company to deal with them directly. read more

My husband booked this hotel because of the ratings, and we always book hotels that have pools/hot tubs so we can enjoy the amenities we don't have at home. When I mentioned it to a friend, they said good luck because that place is a dive. As soon as we showed up there was construction being done on the outside of the hotel to which my husband chalked up as being the pool area. Sure enough, as soon as we walked in there was a sign that the pool area was shut down for remodeling. Right away we asked the front desk why we didn't get notification of this when booking the hotel? No, my husband did not use a 3rd party website, he booked directly on the Wyndham's website. So we had 2 options, leave since we didn't pay ahead of time or stay since the clerk offered us the jacuzzi suite. So we stayed. It's not his fault and he accommodated us as much as he could. The room looked nice and suitable for our needs since my husband was having surgery at 5:30am & all we needed it for was rest & relaxation. Which unfortunately we did not get. The jacuzzi tub was nice, the ceiling tiles above not so much. When shutting the room door, I noticed they can't even spell the city the hotel is in (see photo): Bismarck, ND. The queen size bed looked comfortable but as soon as we both got on it, it wiggled with every move. Let's just say it was a long restless sleep that led to an exhausting next day sitting around a hospital. Wonderful stay, the breakfast had waffles which was delicious, my only gripe was no whipped cream. lol. I stayed in a handicap accessible room, as I do use a walker and need accessibility accommodations for my daily living. Everything was very clean and well put together, the bed was a king size and was very comfortable, no stains or anything at all on the all white sheets and blankets. Extra blankets were provided in the dresser/tv stand drawers. We also had a microwave and a mini fridge and a coffee maker and ice bin. No safe, which was fine. The window to our room also didn't open, which would have been nice to let in fresh air but it was fine, the heating/cooling unit works very well and it never left the air feeling stale really. Check in and check out was easy enough, staff were very friendly. I was made aware that next time I come I should call to set up my reservation instead of using the platform I used, because since I visited the city for medical reasons, they have a lower medical rate for the room, it would have been like $20 less then what I paid. At the time of our visit the pool and hot tub were not working and they didn't have a date set for when it would reopen. So I can't comment on that. It was no issue for us, we didn't even plan on using them in the first place. Continental breakfast was 6-9 am and was really good, I went down right around 630 and got some breakfast for my boyfriend, and then returned right before it switched to 9 and everything was being taken down, so I couldn't make another waffle. But it was change time so I get it. I grabbed bagel and called it good, went to grab cream cheese from the fridge and the fridge had a lock on it. So I put pb&j instead, it was fine. read more

Clean rooms, free breakfast daily plus dinner Monday through Thursday, friendly employees, washer and dryers, snacks and toiletries are available for purchase just in case you forget something. They're under renovation as mentioned in multiple reviews but the pool will be opened relatively soon, if that's important to you just contact the establishment prior to booking the room. Even during construction place was very clean. Front lounge area was spacious and their happy hour with free wine and beer was definitely awesome. Clean rooms friendly staff. I'd stay here again as long as the rate are reasonable. Only downside is parking lot is fairly small. Don't expect to park a car/trailer in their parking lot. read more

When you drive up and half the siding is off the building (going through renovations so they get a pass on that), three buckets in the foyer catching rain water and the most unfriendly staff ever...the carpets in the bedroom were all stained, the small area of grass was dirty and very unkempt....the commons areas were nice, but overall the hotel is pretty bad and I would never stay here again. read more

This was our favorite hotel here. Husband and I stayed many times, always been our first choice. Due to a system glitch (by a third party), they called us while we were out of the room to confirm we were staying a second night. It all got sorted in less than 20min. Come back in the evening to find all our items packed up. Then told our things were hauled down to the front desk so they "could clean the room, but items were brought back to the room after our stay was reconfirmed". A bunch of strangers were in my underwear and personal hygiene items and there were no apologies. Don't stay at La Quinta in Bismarck. read more

stayed 2 nights here for work. staff are friendly, though not the fastest (but that's OK) room was kind of small, but I'm not in it very much, so no biggie. clean & modern, can't complain at this price point. weird mirrored closet door that blocks bathroom doorway when opened. nearly killed myself a few times! there is a small gym- but it only has one treadmill & no TV, so plan accordingly. they have breakfast & even dinners some nights but I am a vegan & also a terrible food snob, so did not partake. right next door to a Starbucks, which is convenient. busy parking lot, I took the very last spot at 9pm read more

I got "deployed" to Bismarck ND to help with our peak season at work. Other than my flight, everything else was booked for me, which is how I ended up at this La Quinta. Now, I'll be honest and say I have no aspirations of returning to North Dakota any time soon. But if you find yourself in Bismarck, you would do well to get shacked up here. The hotel overall is well-maintained. The lobby is nice and clean. The breakfast area looked clean and orderly (not that I was around to experience it). My room on the third floor was clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were always friendly and helpful. Maybe it's the coziness of walking into a warm hotel from the zero degree snowy exterior, but I felt right at home here. I even checked out the pool room and it was like walking into a steam sauna (though I never got a chance to use it). In the end, it's a standard La Quinta that's on the nice end of the spectrum. I'll err on the side of five stars because you really can't ask for anything more at this level of hotel. I ultimately had to check out early before my third night thanks to being reassigned up the highway in Minot. But that's a different review. read more

Great hotel! Very clean! I am a clean "freak" & this was one of the cleanest hotels I've been too. The staff was very kind & always had a smile on their face even though it was Christmas Eve & Day! The only thing I didn't care for, was that the drain in the shower wasn't the greatest & the water pooled up. I only stayed for one night & got to the hotel very late & left early in the morning, so it wasn't a reason to switch rooms/speak to a staff member about! Otherwise, excellent stay! The breakfast was great, and again, everything is very very clean. I also noticed they had hand sanitizer almost everywhere throughout the hotel, especially in highly touched area's. I've stayed at La Quinta's all over the west. This is one of the best ones I've stayed at. Like all of them, they are pet friendly, have free breakfast, guest laundry, and friendly staff! This one also has a pool and hot tub! The rooms are very clean and quite, as well as nice. They are stacked with refrigerator and microwave. I was surprised to see some sort of happy hour. They serve some appetizer, with wine, and probably beer. They have a beautiful lobby and breakfast area! The cleaning staff is also amazing. They are polite, smiley, and gave me a whole new bedding set and towels when requested. The beds are comfortable and equipped with lovely bedding. I travel a lot and it was nice to finally find a place in Bismarck where I felt welcomed and comfortable. Thanks La Quinta staff!! Bravo read more

Pros: Friendly staff, clean/comfortable rooms, close to many shops and restaurants. Ruby Tuesday will deliver here. Allows pets at no additional charge. Cons: Elevator is super slow especially when staying on 4th floor. Grassy pet area is pretty small. Our car broke down 10 miles from La Quinta. We had the car towed to the hotel. When we got here it was like a beacon of light, we were so happy to have arrived. I've never stayed at a La Quinta and I didn't know what to expect, I was actually a bit apprehensive. But, as I said, we were so happy to be here. The staff are very kind and accommodating. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. They provide ample towels and pillows. I do wish that they had down comforters, that would kick up the comfort level. There is a thermostat in the room for temperature control. There is a fridge and microwave. The bathroom has a large vanity for all of our toiletries, I appreciate that. I have to give props to Andrea, the breakfast attendant, she helped me so much this morning. She was so very kind. The front desk staff were also kind to allow a late checkout while my car is getting fixed. All around, staying at La Quinta was a very positive experience. read more

We stayed at this hotel last night. We travel with two German Shepherd Dogs so we always look for a LaQuinta since the allow dogs. This hotel was the cleanest LaQuinta I have been in, in a long time. This is by far the best La Quinta hotel we have stayed at so far. Very clean, updated, and very big room. They accepted our 3 dogs and provided a walk area that was well taken care of. Oddly enough, this was the only one that had any outlets near the beds. Speaking of the beds....REDONKUOLOUSLY AWESOME. Front desk ladies were super sweet and attentive. This hotel is great!!! It is very nicely remodeled, and our double queen room on the 4th floor came with a pullout sofabed as well, and the room is HUGE. It is essentially the size of two hotel rooms. There are even two televisions (one with its own DVD player). The pool is super kid-friendly, with a little splash area with sprinklers, as well as a twisty waterslide. On M-Th nights, they provide free wine and beer down in the lobby, and they cater Famous Daves BBQ- though we didn't partake in the food. This is by far the nicest hotel we've stayed at on our cross-country road trip. Amazing staff, beautiful lounge and breakfast room just off the lobby, and the rooms...oh the rooms!! They're HUGE! Beds are ridiculously comfortable, towels are über soft and fluffy, and the entire set up is designed for total comfort. We checked in just in time for complimentary Swedish meatballs, garlic mashed potatoes, and salad. Such a yummy treat after a long day on the road. The complimentary breakfast in the morning is very well stocked and generous. And the staff is so attentive, kind, and cheerful. With such a convenient location, just off the freeway, it's an easy stop. There's even a gas station and Starbucks just next door for easy refueling in the morning. read more

I traveled to Bismarck ND with my boyfriend and some of his work associates for an important business meeting scheduled today. We called and spoke to a really polite gentlemen on the way in, letting him know we would be arriving late and confirming the information on our reservation. Upon arriving at almost midnight, my boyfriend inquired to the same guy at the front desk about a late checkout for myself, seeing as though the business meeting would be done by 1 pm, to which he happy gave us a late check-out. This morning on five or six separate occasions I had to address the housekeeping that repeatedly came to the door that I had a late check out and would be out of the room at 1, being sure to clarify this each and every time they came to the door. By the last visit (6th or 7th visit to my room around 11:30) I was slightly annoyed and once again clarified that I had a late check out, and would be out at 1. Moments later I got a confrontational call from a woman (surely not a manager??) from the front desk: 'Did you just tell my housekeepers that you have a late check out??' -'Yes mam, we arrived very late last night and was given a late check-out of 1pm by the gentlemen at the front desk. I've communicated this to every housekeeper that has came to the room this morning' 'Well, there are NO late checkouts approved until the morning so I don't know WHY you would have been told that!!' -'I have no idea, that's what we were told last night when we had it arranged at check in' 'Well.... I GUESS I can 'let it go' this ONE time, but that is NOT what we do here!' Click. 'Let it go this one time'? Really? I contacted my boyfriend to come and get me, and while leaving we had a conversation with the three women at the front desk explaining how communication between night and day staff would have eliminated the problem. We added how unprofessional it was to be rude to guests, and how hospitality is key in hotel management, and pointed out that this was how to lose guests. They didn't appear to be bothered at all. Next time we will go back to the Residence Inn which was where we had stayed last time, a little further from our meeting but had phenomenal customer service. On a lighter note the room was very comfortable, the sheets were a cozy flannel material, and from what I heard the breakfast was tasty and had a nice selection :) read more

Hotel was clean and quiet. Starbucks is right next door. My only complaint was the entire hotel was occupied with workers so there was absolutely no parking. We had to park behind a nearby gas station where there were no lights. We were on a long roadtrip so we had to carry quite a few things in because we were worried about leaving it all in the car.
