This is an unimpressive hotel, even by budget hotel standards. They seemed to be finishing an upgrade, but it looked like they'd made some unfortunate choices as the fresh design was rather plain, and they didn't seem to mind leaving piles of debris around even inside. The incomplete nature of things even applied to our room -- when we got to it, the door was propped open with a washcloth, apparently to allow it to dry because the room smelled of paint. The place felt somehow a touch third-world, in that the standards of what we might expect seemed low. This applied even in small ways, such as the shower, which had no shelf so you had to put your soap and shampoo on the floor bend down periodically to access it. The substandard nature applied to service as well. I left my watch behind, and though they called to tell me they found it, they would only return it to me if I gave them a $25 service charge. A good hotel would just mail it to me. Breakfast was unimpressive, but the one nice thing about this place is that there is a McDonalds immediately adjacent and a steak restaurant and Sonic right across the street. read more

The upgraded rooms and lobby are very nice - carpet replaced with nice tile and new paint. The staff are friendly and the manager went out of her way to find me a phone charger in the lost & found box after I misplaced mine. I was a little doubtful about staying here due to my bad experiences with La Quinta in the past, but we were impressed with this one! Ok hotel but showing it's age. Service was friendly and helpful. This is not a quiet hotel, floors clearly transmit the sound of people walking above you. Breakfast selections are limited. Door to the room had to be slammed to open or close and did not fit tightly, there are no towel racks in the bathroom, paint was peeling in a number of places, the bottom of the tub was rusting, carpet had been badly patched in one place and was fraying. read more

Although this hotel may look wonderful from the outside, it is nowhere as good in the outside. There are holes in the wall, unfinished tiles, and disgusting carpets. On the second floor of the Inn, the carpets looked like someone tried cleaning them with bleach as it is covered in it. At one point on the second floor a part of the carpet is red as if there was spilt blood. The rooms smelled awful. There were holes in the paint. If anybody is thinking of coming to Houston, I do bot recommend this for you. read more

The majority of the staff has ugly attitudes. The front desk - as well as cleaning crew. As a native Texan can tell you there is no Texas Hospitality here. Our room was clean - but it's a new facility so that's a pretty low barrier. No one here takes any pride in their work - and that's very reflective in the way they treat their guests. read more

I'll post pics later but so far not impressed. Got in the room and we hear a cricket chirping and my daughter gets freaked out by bugs. Sheets are dingy looking. Carpet doesn't look clean at all. Shower head was disgusting. Coffee cups had stained coffee on them. That's why I always bring my own paper cups. Oh and by the way. Who keeps their coffee maker in the bathroom??? Checking out breakfast in the morning. I will update this review then. I don't think I'll stay here again. Morning update: breakfast consisted of sausage, 2 biscuits and a waffle maker along with stale pastries and your usual beverages. As we were leaving, 5 minutes before they were shutting it down they bring out a pan of breakfast burritos. Those will be tomorrow mornings leftovers. read more

Alright, I am updating my review because of how dog friendly this place is!!!! Brought my pup with me this time and the staff was great with her!! We did not need to stay in a stinky pet only room, there was no extra fee for pets and they didn't fuss about her size or breed. Also, all other pet owners were very friendly and respectful. Room was clean this time. We asked room service to come back 15 minutes later and they never did, but it wasn't an issue. Breakfast was good as usual. Not the Ritz, but this place works, even more so if they let my canine sidekick tag along!! read more

What a pleasant surprise after being on the road for 11 hours. The hotel is only a couple years old and it's very nice and super clean. We didn't use the facilities since we were so tired. The pool was indoor and looked very inviting. Also there was an exercise room. Full hot breakfast available from 6-9am. Pet friendly is a big plus for us since our senior dog was with us. I was driving across country and needed a place go stay that was pet friendly. I knew la Quinta in general was so I found the nearest one. A nice girl answered and told me a bit about it and the rate. I told her I'd let her know. Thinking I could make it I realized I couldn't and needed the room. Called back and she remembered and held it for me. At check in that girl - Samantha - was the nicest person that's ever checked me in. She explained everything I'd need to know in a friendly matter. There were a lot of positives. Staff was friendly. Complimentary breakfast was good. A/C would cool down to the sub arctic. Beds were comfortable. Showers had plenty of hot water. However, there were some downsides. The gym was equipped much skimpier than the usual hotel gym. The treadmill and recumbent bike didn't work and the elliptical machine made a horrible clanging noise. Staff also didn't clean the gym often as there were dead bugs in the corners on different days. The elevator also moved at a glacial pace. 2.5 out of 5 stars for me. read more

If you are passing through and just need a place for the night or if you need to stay for awhile I would recommend the LaQuinta. They are under going a full remodel so excuse the dust but otherwise it is the best place to stay in Columbus. Sandra and Mercedes at the front desk are professional, knowledgeable, thoughtful, helpful and friendly. They helped us with everything from changing rooms to printing out an important document for us. The breakfast is pretty much what you would expect. Scrambled "eggs" sausage links and patties, toast, muffins, make your own pancakes, oatmeal and 3 cereal options. The coffee is always hot and full and is really good. The breakfast area is kept clean and well stocked for the full 3 hrs. The beds are really good but the pillows are a little lumpy but still comfortable. The room and the bathrooms are clean and it is nice having a mini fridge for water or drinks. There is some road noise but not much that can be done about that. Run the AC on constant fan to help drown it out some. read more

Stayed here for work. First time at a La Quinta. Service was really good and my room was clean. I usually stay at Hilton or Holiday Inn so all the subtle difference stuck out for me. Front desk does provide complimentary personal items like razors. There are ice machines only on floors 1 and 3 (4 floors in total). If you like to make drinks in your room after a long day like me, be sure to steal some of the better solo cups from the lobby water. The cups in the room are cheap and will disintegrate. Don't forget to grab the complimentary cookies from the lobby in evenings. There is also a RedBox across the parking lot at McDonalds. I wouldn't recommend going to Nancy's for steak, it's quite awful. The only thing I didn't like about this La Quinta is that I wish the pool area was cleaner, the floor was really dirty. Other than that, I'd definitely stay there again. read more

Staff was nice. Mr. Patel the owner was not. Could care less that his customers have to park across street because his lot is filled with construction trucks. Third floor hall was filthy, The beds are like from a third world country painfully hard, the room was not clean. We stay in La Quinta frequently - this one does not meet the usual standard, left early even though we paid for room. He has so much business he really does not care. It is just about the money squeezing as much as he can and doing as little as he can for his customers. read more

So, you need a place to sleep while your on the road? And now you have gotten off of I-10 in Columbus,TX.. There is not much to do in this town, a couple of good places to eat, places to get gas for the car, and to get groceries... We were in town for a funeral and needed a place to stay... We picked the La Qunita for our one night stay. The room was ready at check in time, and once we got up to the room, everything was ok, and the ac was on... I hate checking into a hot room... You could see a couple of spots in the room where touch up painting had been done, but this is in Columbus TX... I am not expecting a 5 star hotel in a major city... Room was clean and nice, beds, were firm hotel quality, and the ac worked fine all night.. They have a small indoor pool and small workout room. There was a free breakfast, but we could not eat much that was there because of diet restrictions... But Mc Donald's was next door, so that problem was solved easily.. Would I stay here again? Driving cross country with a cat and big dog, stayed at a LA Quinta in New Mexico and was impressed so we sought out one outside of Houston. Impressed again! Affordable, friendly staff, clean, nice room with faux wood floors in the bathroom, no pet fee and a free breakfast. Highly recommend! read more

This hotel looks like a lovely place at glance, but once night time comes that's a different story. We parked on the side of the hotel against the wood fence, something we have done plenty of times before. That was a bad idea considering that is where no security cameras point, so as a result of the hotels mistake nine vehicles where broken into. Guns and money were stolen, yet extremely valuable products were left. The hotel decided to tell us after the fact that this has happened before and failed to tell us that we should consider not parking there. The staff acted fake about the whole situation, giving us pathetic answers about the situation. One of the ladies working the desk decided say to us, "well I don't know why no other hotel was hit." Well I don't either, maybe it's cause this hotel is working an inside job and it's completely horrible. They do not deserve such great reviews, they do not deserve to have anything nice said about them. Worst hotel by far. read more
