Very clean hotel The woman who checked me in last night was very friendly and efficient. My room is also clean. There is a dog walking area with bag stations that is much larger than most places. We've stayed at La Quinta hotels in the past with no issues. During our stay here on this night we noticed as soon as we walked in the room had a funny smell. I sprayed the hotel room down with Febreze which helped. After returning back from dinner I sprayed the room again. While laying in the bed I kept smelling a smelly dog around. My wife said she can smell it as well. It seems the last people that stayed in the room must have let their smelling dog sleep in the bed with them. We pulled off the blanket and only used the top sheet which helped but it was somewhat still in the sheets. The next morning my had flea bits on her. We told the front desk at checkout and she said "I'll make a note of it".... There was no sorry or concerns about it.... We also noticed at checkout about 4 couples on the same floor had dogs with them. So if they charge extra for pets which I think is like $75 where does that cost go? You would think they would strip the entire bed including blankets and comforters and wash them because pets were in the room. Also I would think they would spray for bugs so all is well for next guest. If the $75 extra for pets aren't being used productively then they should set aside designated rooms for families with pets so other guests don't have to deal with it. We love pets have two small dogs of our own but they don't travel with us in hotels. So for my review; the room was a 1 because of the smell and bug issue. The positive with this hotel; it's off the highway with easy in and out. It's close to restaurants and fast food places. The room was also quiet. They had nice small hot and cold breakfast items laid out in the morning. If you do stay here; request a non pet room and make sure sheets and blankets smell clean. read more

In April, we had to change rooms and the second one wasn't much better. Strong mold smell, missing furniture like bedside tables, desk chair and the sofas in both rooms needed to be taken to the dump. Breakfast was not good. Out of orange and cranberry juice, yogurts, bagels - at 8:00 am, and badly cooked. After 11 years of stays here, will be skipping this one. read more

Why 2 stars? Because other than the convenient location, there wasn't much to like. --- --- --- We recently moved from Tampa to the Houston area, and for those who are curious about such facts, Mobile is the halfway point between those two cities, so that is where we opted to stay in order to divide our drive up into two days. Here is what we were looking for when booking a hotel: 1) A suite - so that our two year old could be separate from us and not want to get in our bed in the middle of the night. 2) Something pet friendly because we had our animals. 3) Close to I-10 so we didn't have to go too far out of our way. We had several options, but chose this particular La Quinta because it seemed like the most ideal. Unfortunately we showed up and were not put in a suite. When we went to the front desk, we were told, "we don't have suites at this hotel - the suites are just the rooms with the bathtub in the living room." ...... The bathtub in the living room = suite? There is a chance that I am completely ignorant about how hotel room classifications work, but I was truly befuddled when I heard this. A suite in a hotel has never meant anything other than: the bedroom and the living room are separated by a wall. Had we known that these rooms were mislabeled, we never would have even considered booking here. And as fate would have it, our dog barked at someone using the nearby ice machine at 5am, it woke our son up, and then our son was determined to get in our bed and wrestle with himself until we were fully awake. We only got a few hours of sleep in between road trip days, which was far from ideal. As for everything else: the comfort of the bed/pillows, the shower, the breakfast... it was all pretty poor. We had a great stay here. It was our home base for our day trips to Pensacola in one direction and Biloxi in the other. A very comfortable and pet-friendly hotel. Friendly staff and close to restaurants. We had a 1st floor room near the back door so it was real convenient to take our pet out. We ended up staying an extra night because everything worked so nicely for our needs. The manager, Sharon, is customer-friendly and knows how to run a hotel. read more

Roach in the room, blood on the sheets, when we asked for new bedding they told us that housekeeping had left. They gave us new sheets, but they had no blankets. I asked for the corporate number and I was pointed to the local contacts, and told I could probably find the corporate number online. Very disappointed! read more

By far the best hotel I've stayed in a while. Front desk lady was super nice and funny! Checked me in, showed me to my room to make sure I was okay with it and even handed me clean linen like I asked for. The room smelled great and not stinky. Carpet feels good and not wet or anything. Bathroom looks amazing. Housekeeper has done their job and it is outstanding! They also have PANTENE shampoo and conditioners which was surprising because that's what I use at home. Love everything about this place. They also have free breakfast and check out is at noon! More sleep for me :) highly recommend staying here. read more

Fine place to spend the night outside Mobile. It's just off the highway, front desk receptionist was friendly, room was no frills - it's a La Quinta, and you get what you pay for. Definitely kind of worn down, but bed was comfortable enough and bathroom was clean. Unlike one of the previous reviewers, we were able to use La Quinta rewards points at this location. Free breakfast and free Wi-Fi, though the Wi-Fi as very slow - even loading email was slow. read more

Let me give an honest review ! This place is very nice ! The front seat women is incredible she deserves a raise . Booking.com screwed up our reservation and refuses to admit it but the women gave us the correct room no extra charge . This hotel is also pet friendly !! Breakfast was delicious and we definitely will be back !! The hotel has been updated and is very clean , there is a pet fee of 20 dollars but most places charge a fee tbh !! So going off of past complaints is invalid ! Someone complained of a pot smell ! Let's be honest you could go to a Westin and some ones smoking a blunt !! I don't know if it's legal in Alabama but people are gonna do what they want to do wether it's allowed or not !! There Was a guy smoking a blunt outside when we checked in yea is the smell unpleasant but he is gonna do him and me telling him to stop is a waste of air . Clean and new looking but there were several people with dogs in the hotel. Do they let dogs in here? I guess so which was a negative for me. The front desk clerk hooked us up with a decent rate. A night's stay includes a hot breakfast which was just okay. The eggs, sausage patties, and bacon were probably previously frozen but there was yogurt, bagels, toast, waffles, fruit, cereal, coffee to make up for it. The exercise room was being used when I checked in and then later that night it was empty which was perfect for me to relax while I work out. The TV was probably a 47" LCD TV whereas the rooms had a 32" LCD TV. Why wasn't there a huge TV in our room. jk! I don't care about that but I did care about the slow wifi. No password needed which saved me from punching a passcode but it was slow. The business center also had a slow connection. It was a bit frustrating at times to browse the internet because I'm used to ultra lightening speed internet. haha. Beds were nice queen size but the pillows were ultra soft and didn't offer enough support but otherwise I have no complaints about the room itself. read more

I am very strct when rating hotels.I travel on the road often and have discovered that most hotels are truely nasty and its expected that you except their standards of non cleanliness and nasty attitudes. However, I can actually say at this location, you are safe.It feels like home.NOt one time did I have to deal with a nasty room or attitude.I felt like I was at an auntie's home. They cooked good breakfast every morning too. My grits were seasoned to taste and they had a nice variety and the food was hot.They manager was very pleasant and the employees greeted me with such friendliness. They accomodated every need. I truely beleive that they should be the model La quinta for all of the laquinta hotels. I stayed for 7 days and if I ever had to return to Mobile AL on a business trip. I will definitly come to this location. I have stayed at the Laquinta ST Petersburg FL 4th street. It was nasty and managemengt attitude is beyond horrible. I was there on a business trip and ST Petersburg doesnt have a pleather of options,You ar either getting the best service at the Marriot and paying $300 per night or paying $100 per night and get crap. I also stayed in Macedonia OH Laquinta Inn the rooms were nice and had clean sheets but they didnt make me feel welcomed. Mobile AL has redeemed them all. Terrible and disgusting. Booked on Hotels.com. After waiting 30 minutes to check-in with disgruntled woman working the desk, we walked up to a soaking wet room. The floor was soaked and a/c not working. We were given another room 2 doors down. My observations about the first room did not seem surprising to the front desk person. Halls and elevator are run down. Rooms are not clean, and the lobby had numerous hazard cones and obviously lots of water leak issues. Will never stay at a La Quinta again- run, don't walk away from this location. read more

Got here after a very long drive from West Palm Beach, FL. Heather checked me in. She was very very sweet. I started unloading all my stuff, in the pouring rain, not caring about getting wet because I wanted to change anyway. The only thing I had left to bring to the room was one of my dogs. My key didn't work. Heathers master key didn't work. Trying to reconfigure the door didn't work. So I was locked out of my room for an hour and a half with one of my dogs trapped in the room. In soaking wet clothes. And our dinner, which we got to eat cold. I was pretty understanding, considering. Until I was offered a slap-in-the-face $20 discount. That's it?? After a 13 hour drive, soaked to the bone, and my dog stuck in the room for 90 minutes and that only gets you a $20 discount. If not for my dogs, I wouldn't even consider staying at La Quinta's. read more

Nice that it's off the main drag. No one ever answered the phone when I called to confirm online reservation. Had to call the main 800 number. Checkin was decent. The outside doors don't work and the front desk didn't tell us so I had to walk around in the cold to get back inside and then room key didn't work. We used Hotel Tonight app to book one night. The girl at the front was incredibly sweet once we asked to see if we could get a room with two queens. She quickly changed it to another floor. As we got off the elevator the entire floor smelled of pot and as we walked into our room the smell was worse. Again the girl at the front was so kind and put us back to the original room. Once we got in we noticed the bed that was made had hair all over it and the pillows were dirty. My husband asked for all new sheets and we remade the bed. read more

Sweet place. right off the freeway, close to gas and food. They let me park the bike right out front under the canopy too, and it was pouring! Thanks! The staff were excellent, check in was a breeze and they helped with change and soap for the on site laundry. We ordered in carry out, no plates or utensils, no problem they unlocked the breakfast supplies and got us some, awesome service!. The hotel and room was very nice, newer and really clean and everything worked properly. Nice breakfast in the morning and the price was fair so we have zero complaints, give them a shot. read more

I checked in 5/30/20, checked out 06/02/20.The staff was friendly,welcoming & helpful.They didn't have breakfast because of covid, nor did they have things in stock in their mini market. Disappointed. Staff were very nice I have to mention that. We got into our room and quite outdated but we understand that most of the La Quintas are going to be renovated. We often stay in La Quintas because of their pet policy. However as soon as we walked in we noticed hair in the shower, mold in the bathroom, as if the bathroom just looked like it wasn't clean. The couch and arm chair were very dirty and the couch had a hole in it. The breakfast was not much to look forward to. Just disappointed. Again the staff was so sweet. read more

This is such a beautiful property with everything you could need right around it. We got in late to our room and everything was ready and swift when we came through the door at 2am. The staff was wonderful, the hotel has a beautiful lobby and breakfast and a great pool. The room is spacious, with a large desk, a microwave, a fridge and a tv. The beds are incredibly comfortable and it was lovely to have such a deep sleep this far from home. Everything is clean and the bathroom is roomy with everything you might need down to makeup remover. I loved staying here and I will do it again and again!! read more

On October 9, evacuated from Hurricane Michael to this hotel. Only had a reservation for 1 night. Next morning asked to extend. The manager and staff personally went the extra mile to get us a room for second night. As soon as a cancellation popped up, they saved the room for us. Both rooms clean and well maintained. There is 1 reason that I stay in Laquintas - their pet policy. If you're traveling with a dog, they're great. Dogs stay completely free and often they'll have treats for them and places to easily dispose of doggie waste bags. This trip I didn't actually have a dog, but my brother did and my family was all staying in the same hotel. So I don't know how it was for pets. For people, though it was pretty nice. Their staff was super nice and the rooms were clean, yet basic. Free wifi, but as others have mentioned it was somewhat slow. I had a bit of sticker shock for the room, though. My parents were footing the bill for both my brother and I, so I didn't know how much it was costing until I saw the bill slid under my door. $107+tax/night seems ridiculously pricey for Mobile, AL. I've stayed at nicer hotels in pricier areas for less than that. If the price is right for you, I'd recommend it. Especially if you have a dog. read more

This place didn't take our rewards points and the don't honor CLEAT discount, which is a union organization for first responders. Usually, it is accepted by other La Quinta properties. There was no sofa in the room because it had been damaged. It had been removed but not replaced. They brought 2 folding beds for our kids to sleep on, and one of those was damaged. The room smelled of cigarette smoke, even though they are a non-smoking property. All they offered as a remedy was an aerosol smoke spray. Thank goodness this was only a one-night stay. Right off the highway, plenty of restaurants (ok, fast food joints) nearby, and the hotel was pretty clean and well-maintained. If I had one (minor) complaint, it was the overly friendly desk clerk. Every time you walk in he's got something to say. "Popeye's chicken bag? Oh you got some supper for tonight, yeah?" Dude, give it a rest. read more

I always use LaQuinta no matter where I travel to., We were at this one for a week. The 1st 2 days no kind of service what so ever. I put trash out made the beds myself put the towels out for housekeeping, went to the beach come back on each of those days and still no service. Went down stairs talk to front desk clerk she wrote everything down next day I got service. Day after that no service again. We ask for our towels, toilet paper, trash bags and did it myself again. We called ahead to make sure pool was open and was told it was, we get there and pool is open But get there it is closed they couldn't get the chemicals. We drove to a couple of other hotels after being told no one could get chemicals needed and see people swimming. I understand everyone is short handed I get it but I took care of my room everyday but one. Not very happy with this LaQuinta. Thank goodness for the girl at the front desk she was amazing. She worked 2nd shift was there everyday we were there. read more

Front desk has no manners and "picks and chooses" he was very rude and had no solution to the problems that were arising. In order to deal with 3rd party booking sites YOU as an employee (especially as a manager per his arrogance) must build a relationship and inform them when to stop taking reservations. The guy at the front desk was very unprofessional and CHOSE who's reservations to keep or cancel once they arrived at the hotel... very much disappointing after driving 8+ hours. I was informed my reservations were canceled but I did not receive an email from the booking site nor did I receive a call from the property. read more

We arrived to our room late in the afternoon after having been at the beach all day. We desperately wanted to rid ourselves of sand and get ready for dinner that night, but those plans came to a screeching halt. Someone had clearly beaten us to the punch as the tub was already filled with sand...making for a nasty makeshift Jacuzzi that we didn't ask for. Management said they were full for the night so changing rooms to better accommodate us was not going to happen..so we suffered through it. In the morning staff brought us some Draino...that didn't help at all. So again in the morning we suffered again. the king sized bed wasn't that comfortable and of course with pull out sofa bed would warrant you a trip to see your chiropractor. Do yourself a favor and just lay on the pillows from the sofa. the only thing that seemed pretty comfy were the bed pillows. Other than that....the only highlight of the stay was the continental breakfast in the morning. read more

This was a very clean and very reasonably priced hotel! The staff was super friendly and made sure they were helpful with any requests I had and very knowledgeable of the entire Mobile, AL area (beaches to go to, restaurant, etc.). The beds were comfortable (I've stayed at hotels $150+ that did not have beds that were as comfortable as these) and they also let pets stay for free!! Make sure to book with Expedia to get the best rates (my King sized bed room was $99/ night Friday and Saturday) . read more
