I stayed here recently while attending a work conference and had a very pleasant experience. The view from my room on the 23rd floor was beautiful. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean and well-maintained. Our conference was held in the Mobile Bay Ballroom, which was spacious and comfortable. The catered breakfast and lunch served in the Jubilee Suite were both enjoyable. Throughout my stay, the staff were hospitable, professional, and pleasant to encounter. We stayed here a few weeks ago for a wedding and there were some nice things that we experienced, but the hotel overall was a letdown. First up, the good: the room was clean, our room had a nice view, and the location was great; it's within walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars and it's easy to get on and off the highway. The service at check in and check out was also very good. The so so: The beds were hard, but not altogether uncomfortable. The shower pressure was also just okay and it would have been a lot nicer if the pressure was better, but it's not a deal breaker for a trip. Now the bad: the service at breakfast and at the hotel bar was downright atrocious and remarkably slow for a fairly quiet weekend. It took us almost 30 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them at the bar and it took almost 45 minutes to get breakfast on a Sunday morning, which is unacceptable. The service at the wedding reception was also very poor and disorganized as if the staff weren't used to serving people in large groups. The food at the wedding reception was very hit or miss as some people really enjoyed their food while others (including myself) had dry and hard salmon, which was unpalatable. This is unfortunately not a place that we'd frequent again and we'd look elsewhere if staying in downtown Mobile again. read more

Always comfortable here and have clean rooms in good service. We actually live in Mobile County, but this is my favorite hotel to stay at when we have events downtown at the convention center. Every single time at check-in I've had a pleasant experience with the staff. The rooms always meet my expectations for Marriott property and truthfully, I usually get upgraded. Thanks to titanium status. Service at fathoms can be hit or miss sometimes, but the bar service is always usually on point. And they have really good food. This is a safe and clean property, and the perfect location for staying downtown. read more

Nice property that does a good job keeping up with the traffic. The checkin experience was pleasant and the front desk team engaged in a very appropriate and welcoming manner. They explained options for parking over night and made me comfortable that parking on the street for two days would be fine. I request the highest available floor and was assigned 20th floor which I was not too thrilled about but for a last night booking I went along. The re was a vacuum cleaner in the hallway that sat there overnight which for me was off putting considering the price point. Maintenance had to be called twice for no draining sink and shower and they arrived expeditiously on both occasions and provided excellent service. Once ready to retreat for the night I noticed a hole on the fitted sheet. Not what I expected for a hotel of this caliber. They got a pass based on having a high occupancy level that weekend. Overall, I was pleased enough for 4/5 especially with the Royal Scam's bread pudding just a stone throw away. read more

What an awesome hotel stay I had at Renaissance Riverview Plaza. From the front desk staff to the custodians, everyone was super nice and friendly. They were also very knowledgeable and if they didn't know something, they were able to quickly find someone else who could help. When I got to the hotel and checked in, there was a long line. I noticed that the front desk only had one available staff member, but she handled check in very quickly and professionally. Once I got to the room, it was immaculate. Typically you see a strand of hair or something else that needs tidying, but no my room was super clean. Please note that when you turn on the shower, the tub's stopper may push down and start collecting water in the tub, however you should be able to easily fix this by pushing down on the stopper and flipping it back up. We were also able to stop by the bar. Our waitress was also very nice and the drinks were good as well. All in all, great stay at the Renaissance and I highly recommend! read more

Great hotel and the closest one to the Cruise Port in Mobile, AL. They have a package for "Park and Cruise" that covers your hotel stay for 1 night and they will keep your automobile for the duration of your cruise, plus they shuttle you back and forth to the port. read more

Another great hotel located in downtown Mobile. Why? Here goes my 5 star list: *Corner room, river view, high floor has an awesome view. The rooms are huge! *Self parking garage has easy access and is connected to the hotel. *Valet is convenient and costs only a few dollars more than self park. *Very courteous and pleasant staff! All of them were awesome! *Very good affordable breakfast served in the main lobby (see my pics) *Very quick access to I-10 or tunnels that lead to the east side of Mobile Bay. *A plethora of restaurants and bars all within walking distance of the hotel. *Marriott app allows electronic key, and chat access with front desk. Very convenient! *Comfortable beds, clean linens, and feather pillows upon request. *2 of the 4 elevators are encased in glass so you can see the awesome views when going up to the high floors. *Common areas are very clean and with up to date decor. Stayed here overnight to break our long drive back home. The bath soap was empty down to the last pump. I normally bring my own along with my own washcloth. But this time, decided to leave my soap in our big suitcases. Imagine having your shower and no soap to use. So upsetting. The soap dish and lotion stand was also lacking. Not that I used them but just looking at the stand visually would already suggest something is missing!!! Also, trash bins were not emptied. Otherwise, lobby and rest of room appears clean. If you're looking for a hotel near the Mardi Gras route then look no further! Our room had a great view of the parade and it's right at the street route if you don't want to sit out there for too long. It's also in the heart of downtown next to nearby restaurants and bars. Our overall stay was very pleasant with a great breakfast in the lounge on the top floor. The room was very nice and neat along with a comfy bed. Our room was on the top floor so we had front row seats to all the activities happening down on the street level. Just fair warning, it is sort of strange how you get there from the garage so make sure to park close to the elevators when you arrive. The front desk people were pleasant and helpful and willing to answer any questions we may have had about the area. Again, I highly recommend people to stay here for "party Gras" if you want to be close to the action! read more

Hotel had some good points and bad. The property is pristine, and the area is great, plenty of food places and entertainment. The food at the hotel is good, but it could have been better. At one time, the food at this hotel was 5 star, but it has lost some of its luster. The staff was great, really friendly and helpful. The room was great, very clean, but the hallway leading to the room was another issue. The hallway literally smelled like some performed number one on the carpet, and several other conference members said the same thing. I am not sure what happened, but I don't really understand why the hotel would let something like that persists. Otherwise the hotel would be 4 star easily. read more

Not one complaint with this hotel!! Our stay this past week was perfect. We arrived a little early and our room wasnt quite ready, but the girl at the desk, Skye, was super helpful and friendly. We were going to wait but she insisted on upgrading us to a room that WAS ready and it ended up having a water view. PERFECT Room was spacious and spotless. Bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Fitness center is great. Beds are comfortable. Nice shampoo, conditioner, and bath wash. Fridge in room as well as a coffee/tea maker. Plenty of charger ports. Hotel is in walking distance from museums, restaurants, stores. They do charge for parking and the garage was a bit of a challenge-spaces are tight, difficult to find hotel entrance from the garage. BOTTOM LINE: Great experience here! Will likely stay again! LOCATION: Great location in downtown mobile. We could easily walk to various restaurants/bars. PARKING: Valet parking is available. We used the self-parking option (with in-and-out privileges). The garage is attached to the hotel. The only downside is that not all of the elevators in the garage were working...so we had to walk a little further and down a couple ramps to actually enter the hotel. ROOM/AMENITIES: The room was great! No complaints. There was a mini-fridge and coffee maker in the room. No microwaves, but they are available by request on a first-come first-serve basis. I workout regularly, so of course I had to check out the gym. It was just ok...much to be desired, but there was enough to get a decent workout in. Several cardio machines, a few weight training machines, a rack of dumbbells, and a couple benches. The pool area (which is near the gym) was closed for renovations, but it looks like it would be a great place to hang out once the renovations are complete. FOOD: There is a small market/cafe on the lobby level that sells coffee, pastries, and some breakfast sandwiches. they also had some grab and go items like salads and cold lunchmeat sandwiches. I had an egg white breakfast sandwich that was pretty good. I just wish there were more options. The restaurant on-site (Fathoms) is near the checkin counter. We stopped there to get some food after coming in from having a few drinks at a bar across the street. I ordered one of the flatbreads and it was delicious! read more

We had dinner Friday night and Saturday night and both times we had Stephanie she was funny and just an all around awesome person. She made our weekend here in Mobile. I had a horrible golf tournament and she did great cheering me up. I hope the best for her in the future. She gave us great recommendation on both nights and she was spot on. Amazing place to have a company conference. The place has been completely remodeled and is beautiful. The food is absolutely wonderful. The staff are so friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure our company event ran smoothly. Honestly cannot find a flaw in this hotel. We got it for a steal on Priceline and it's located in the heart of downtown overlooking the river. The hotel itself is very fancy and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very nice with a mini fridge, coffee pot and tea. The bed was heavenly with plenty of nice comfy pillows. I thought the shower pressure was *just right* and towels were soft and fluffy. Oh and the wifi was not spotty at all like it can be in some other hotels. I would definitely stay here again. We checked in for the weekend to see Gabriel Iglesias. We checked in and had to pay extra for parking. The room we stayed in was on the 6th floor and the way we parked was in the garage on level 3. We had to go down to level 2 then down a ramp in order to get into the hotel for a person with a wheelchair it was quite arduous. The hotel room was definitely handicap accessible and my husband was able to get around and use the shower. The shower seat started to come away from the wall so we contacted the front desk and they sent maintenance to fix it, twice, after the second time they put a regular shower chair so my husband could still take a shower. The breakfast buffet was free one day and the second day we had to pay. The food was excellent and, according to my husband, the omelets were delicious. read more

The Hotel is connected to the conference center that sits in in front of the River with a great view. You can cross the connector bridge on foot and make your way towards to park to get some fresh air and feel the breeze. Parking in the deck can be a bit confusing of where the closest door actually is, but you grab a ticket on the way in and swipe your card key leaving. Hotel was very clean and modern. The view was amazing from the 27th & 28th floor and staff is very friendly and accommodating. There are exits that lead right into the city sidewalk where you can easily walk to nearby shops. I literally have to ditto Angie T's sentiments when she says she couldn't find one flaw with this hotel! It was pure bliss! We opted from a room in downtown Mobile after our day at the beach, just because the rooms were cheaper...and found this beauty. Gorgeous lobby with a nice sized bar and beautiful structural fixtures. There was a live band and/karaoke of some sorts going on when we arrive which was cool. There's a nice sized gift shop for souvenirs and a few meeting rooms for events and weddings/receptions. They were sold out of our initial double queen pick for a room when we arrived and upgraded us to a king suite and gave us a roll away bed. The view of the convention center at night was amazing! The room was clean. soft pillows and even the roll away bed was pretty comfortable. If you don't mind the drive from Gulf Shores/Orange Beach or happen to be in the Mobile area I would definitely recommend this place. Our only hiccup was a charge for high speed internet that we didn't ask for and we wanted removed. The 1st lady we spoke to was uber rude, but Maa (If I remember correctly) quickly made the adjustment for us. Can't let one bad apple spoil your trip right? Added bonus...there are a few bars and restaurants right across the street if you wanna hang out or grab a bite to eat. (hint hint: The Royal Scam - trust me!) read more

Overall nice stay and I would love to stay here again. I didn't check out the bar or restaurants but they looked nice. I especially like it being walking distance from a few late night spots and early morning coffee/breakfast spots. The entrance was nice with a covered walkway between the car loading/unloading area and the main door. When I checked in the line moved pretty quickly for a busy Saturday and the gentleman who checked me in was thorough and efficient. Our room was on the 16th floor, a king bed with a view of the city. We liked the Aveda amenities in the bathroom and having s small fridge in the room. No problems at all with the room, it fit our needs perfectly. I thought the valet and bellman service was the star of my stay. They were very speedy for check in / check out and they took great care of us whenever we were coming or going with our car. read more

This is a beautiful hotel, located right across the street from the convention center. Our room had a beautiful view of the center and mobile channel! Considering where it's located downtown, and that we stayed on a Saturday night, we got a great price! After spending the day at Orange Beach, we got a room here last minute. We booked a double bed room, but at check-in all that was available was a King suite. They did offer to send up a roll away bed. Unfortunately, we had to wait a couple hours for that, and call a couple times requesting extra towels! They told us they had one housekeeper on staff (even though they were booked to capacity). Our room was charged for high-speed internet, even though we did not use it (only the regular is free)! When we called the operator to question it she was extremely rude! She over talked my friend, did not take time to listen to what we were saying, and hung up on us before we even got the opportunity to ask to speak to someone else! We did report that to the front desk, and we hope it was addressed! Also, when we were arrived the valet told us we could park ourselves in the garage for $14 or pay about 4 bucks more for valet. We chose to park ourselves, but when we left the garage the next day we ended up having to pay extra. Their garage attendants reason for this was the hotel should of charged us parking with the room, and the garage is a separate company. So ask about that if you do park yourself! I understand why it takes a key card to activate the elevator in an urban conference hotel, but when you are a lower floor and someone gets on before you do who can't figure out the complicated process that doesn't always work of swiping a key (key card readers don't scan the first time half time the time) combine with being assigned to a lower floor means that I rode the elevator all the way to the top several times because I couldn't punch my floor in before the elevator passed it several times. Why to I have to ride the elevator to floor 28 when I am on floor 10 just because the person on 28 can't seem to let me push the floor 10 button? After my second ride to the top, I'd had enough and practically had to push people out of the way to hit my button in time on subsequent rides. I would not choose to stay here again. read more

Fantastic clean friendly accommodations . Fitness center is stocked with headphones towels and water, I know that seems like a given but staying at over 100 hotels a year it is not. Great views of downtown Mobile and the River. Happy hour specials are excellent and if you are Gold or Platinum the lounge on the 28th floor is top notch. read more

As a well traveled traveler this falls above average for the price. Hotel room 2816 was ok but definitely in need of an update. Bed was comfy. Let's get rid of electronics that are out of date and add more USB and outlets. Bathtub needs new shower curtain and liner has mold around/in weights also liner needs to be longer, couldn't avoid getting water on floor Great club level access. Overall nice hotel, value for $$ . Marriott please add it to the Renaissance update list BIGGEST disappointment is having to pay either $14 to self park or $20 to valet. If you don't need to rent or bring a car DON'T ! read more
