I came here for brunch with a friend on a Saturday afternoon around 12:45. This was one of the most unique brunch places I've been to, and I really enjoyed it. The weekend brunch concept is basically that you pick either the vegetarian (20€) or omnivore version (22€) of whatever savory brunch plus dessert they've put together, and you get unlimited self-service hot drinks, bread, butter, and jam. Once you order at the front, they give you a buzzer and you find a seat and wait for your meal to be prepared; when the buzzer goes off, you collect your food from the kitchen area. They have a lot of low-waste and eco-friendly measures, including sorting food waste and focusing on using local products. When we arrived, the place was packed--unsurprising, given the day and time. The tables are very close together so we did have to awkwardly squeeze between a lot of other tables to get to 1 that was open. Since it's so cramped it's possible it's not the most comfortable dining experience if you're claustrophobic, but I felt the restaurant had a very community-oriented vibe and the packed dining areas just added to that. The restaurant is actually not small at all, as there was a wide floorplan and 2 levels of seating, so the fact that it was as busy as it was is quite a testament to the its popularity. Our buzzer went off after a few minutes, and the brunch plates were huge and delicious. That day the vegetarian plates came packed with a very balanced selection of items, including quinoa with raisins, salad, bread topped with scrambled eggs, some cheese, potatoes (my favorite) and a coleslaw-like concoction. The omnivore plate included all of this as well as a filet of smoke salmon, which was really delicious. The dessert, also included in the brunch price, consisted of fruit, some kind of pudding, and a few mini tarts. I ultimately wasn't a huge fan of the desserts, but I loved the savory plate. Given the quantity and quality of the food, as well as unlimited bread and hot drinks, I considered the price of the meal to be very reasonable. The staff at La Recyclerie were very friendly and efficient; multiple employees were happy to explain to us how the weekend brunch menu worked and where things were. There was also a little market at the front of the restaurant, where local vendors were selling candles, textiles, etc. Definitely a lovely place to visit if you're in the area! read more

Even though this is right off a major subway stop- it doesn't look like much from the outside. It is only when you wander inside, and keep wandering, that you discover how much more it offers! The seating all the way to the rail road tracks below seems endless, but fills up quite quickly as people pack in for drinks and a vegetarian bite to eat. Most of the service is order at the counter- or use the QR code at your table and cell phone number to order by card online and pick up at a counter when it's ready. This is a really cool place to get a feel for the local communal community experience. We came on a Saturday at 2pm and it was still really busy! All menus and signs are in French but luckily the guy at the counter spoke English so we were able to ask him how and what to order. Essentially they have one set meal per day with three options: regular, Vegetarian, and kids. What is offered changes daily due to what local produce they have daily. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, quinoa, stewed veggies, salad, and a piece of raw salmon. It also comes with a brownie and melon juice. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and bread are all self service and included in the brunch fare. After ordering, you get a buzzer to go pick up your food at the station labeled "cuisine". Then when done with meal, you take all your plates and trash to the recycle station. Interior is super roomy with mix and match seating/tables. There's a lot of natural light and plants which gives it quite the rustic/boho vibe. Everything feels very used and homey. La récyclerie was so much fun! The place is just so nice and full of life. I liked their ecological way of thinking (own vegetable gardens, chickens who ate the rests of the food instead of throwing it away..). There wasn't so much choice for vegetarians, which was a pity. But we had some nice tapas and some very yummy hibiscus juices. Cool place in a not so cool neigbourhoud! Filled with locals and very popular so you might need to wait to get a table. read more

on weekends brunch is divided between vegetarian and non-vegetarian. it's not cheap but this is a very special place with their own beekeepers, chickens, produce, community work/classes, showcase rooms, flea markets, and a gorgeous space indoors and out for conversation. I walked away feeling completely satisfied to have supported these fantastic people after a meal that felt cared for. So if you're looking for fancy and paying to be served, GO ELSEWHERE. the people here aren't here for that. they are kind, care about what they do, in a corner of montmartre not catered to tourists, and in my opinion can absolutely charge the amount they do (20€ Vegetatian // 22€ non-vegetarian) because it was still completely packed with line out the door - supply and demand works and they give back to the earth in ways that most restaurants don't. love this place. read more

Very cool spot in Paris for just hanging out, grabbing a beer or coffee and light fare. Love the converted warehouse, lofty ceilinged structure which overlooks an old train line. Had a few laughs chatting with one of the bartenders as they were playing 70s and 80s American music. She loved it but I spoke of wanting to hear Cool French Music and mentioned artist St. Germain as being an artist that I liked. She had no clue as to who he was so there, I was able to share my knowledge of a French musician to a native :) read more

Very cool place ! Hipster and trendy. I had brunch with my friends there on a Sunday. We arrived at 12pm so we found a nice table outside. The brunch menu is for 22€ regular and 20€ vegan/vegetarian. There is secondhand clothes market and they have got a mini farm which is cute. It was full after 1pm so better arrive early. Wow I will be recommending this place to all my friends visiting Paris! Overlooking a beautiful garden/old train tracks, this place makes all the food in house, and manages to grow most of it in the garden! Always fresh and delicious, the menu is ever changing, but they always have a few vegetarian options (not sure about vegan but they seem like they would have one). And, even though the food is fresh and delicious, this place is AFFORDABLE. I know right. Most lunch offers ("formule de midi") are around 19 euros. This place was 13.50 euros for an entree (vegetarian and regular options), dessert, and a cup of filtered coffee. I got the tortellini with crème caramel for dessert. Tasted fresh and was absolutely amazing. I will be coming back! The weekend menu is brunch only and that's more expensive (20-22 euros) but I've seen the plates and they are gigantic for brunch, so it's worth the price. Since I was a bit confused, here's how it works: order at the bar top in the front of the restaurant (menu for the day is on the chalkboard to the right). They'll give you a buzzer, and when that goes off you pick up your food from the kitchen window just behind the bar and to the left. Then, you can sit either inside, on the deck, or continue down the stairs to the garden. When you're done, take your tray inside and put it in the dish area (to the right of the kitchen window). They do not take reservations. Metro: Porte de Clingancourt (m4), follow the exit for "marche aux puces" and it's literally right there when you exit. read more

Wonderful place to go and chill. It's not just a café or a canteen, but an association with their own gardens, chicken coop, and even flea markets every Sundays (CHECK THEM OUT). There is also free wifi and even a little library so you can just sit and leaf through the books they have. Visiting their website or even better, looking at the pictures on yelp would give you an idea. The services is slow. Like there are six people behind the counter moving super quickly but somehow there is a two-mile long line to get a coffee. If I can understand why, I think I would have understood all the mysteries of the universe. On the other hand, this means that you can just go and chill and not bother about ordering anything if you don't feel like it. The food looks okay, never tried it and probably never will given the price point (it's not cheap, unlike the drinks that begins with the 1 euro coffee). So yeah, if you go there expecting to have a great meal or quick service and fancy napkins you will be disappointed. If you go there to chill and explore a space, you will be happy. This is a slightly contrarian take on what is arguably a very popular place: when I went there at night on a weekday, the place was packed and I had to squeeze into a small table. However I must warn you that for those who are Vegetarians like me in Paris, this is not a great place to find your meal. I ordered their Plat Vegetarienne which had a tarte made of something green with some marrons (chestnuts) around it. Not very edible or even tasty. I then ordered their soup which had bell peppers and spices but it was just okay. All in all, I didn't have a filling meal even though I spent 20 euros for it. Next time, I will spend it elsewhere. A note to the owners if they read this: please find some tasty Veggie burgers to fit your restaurant style or some kebabs or falafels to fit the vibe that comes with your customers. It will be a more tasty (hopefully) and more popular offering than your current slate (or plate). Please take this as constructive criticism. We came between lunch and dinner so we could not get food but the atmosphere is fun and relaxed. It is a cafeteria style seating with a lovely quirky bar and recycle, up-cycle and sustainable everything. We took a walk down to the terraced garden and chx coop by the train tracks and passed by an insect house and aquaculture pond growing tomatoes and housing koi fish. Very cool spot. We wanted to try brunch here because we saw it in an episode of Alice in Paris and a local barista recommended it. Unfortunately the day we chose to come here happened to be the day they were offering an all vegan menu. It definitely was not worth the 22 euros. We got a plate of salads and strange desserts. It's basically self service, and we got lectured for not cleaning our plates thoroughly before putting them in the bus bin. Long line for the 2 toilets and the one sink was broken so no one could wash their hands. 2 stars because the space is pretty cool and Instagram worthy. I would not recommend eating here. read more

La Recyclerie is one of those places I thought I liked, and if I'd stuck to their gluten-free desserts and cheap cocktails, things might have stayed that way. The DIY workshops are creative and fun, with partners like Atelier de la Souris Verte, Le Triporteur and Sophrologie. Gare Ornano makes a dreamy setting for brocantes and classic film screenings (E.T., for example), and their gluten-free rhubarb crumble is melt-in-your-mouth delicious. With that, I've exhausted all the nice things I have to say about this forsaken place. I swear I got food poisoning from their nasty kitchen. I visited after a bike ride to Puces aux Clignancourt; the sign said La Recyclerie opens at noon, and I stopped at the Velib station at 12:21. Only the staff hadn't opened the doors. They milled around, apparently aimlessly, as a lengthy line formed outside. One left for the tabac and locked the door behind him without so much as a glance towards the crowd of waiting customers. The manager came up around 12:30 and banged on the door, screaming for his employees to open up. When we finally made it inside, no one was behind the bar. No one would seat us. The patrons looked about, lost, until my husband and I just sat down at a picnic table. The manager frantically restored some semblance of order, and four bartenders materialized, though only one decided to work that day. She was super nice; I felt bad for her because her boyfriend, who was not a La Recyclerie employee, who was not an employee of any company, anywhere, hung around drinking free beers all day. When we finally placed our orders- which I thought would never happen, because the employees kept erasing things I wanted to order, telling me it wasn't available that day, and then writing the exact same menu item over again under that day's menu- the "fresh-pressed juice" they were charging 5 euro per cup for turned out to be a brand-spanking new bottle from Carrefour costing 3 euro per liter. The food took a long time, too, but we didn't mind until we got a look at it and realized they just spooned cat and rabbit food onto metal trays before buzzing us to come pick it up. Literally, my cats would not touch anything from La Recyclerie, and they eat pigeon droppings off our balcony. Let's not talk about what happens when it's time to leave. No, let's: La Recyclerie makes you clean up after yourself. They shovel garbage unfit for animals onto trash unfit for polite homes, and they don't have the decency to bring it to you, nor put it back into the poubelle from whence it came. They don't compost, and the guy in the kitchen yelled at me! Have I mentioned that La Recyclerie wasn't letting anybody use the bathroom that day? We had to go to Square Clignancourt to get my blood pressure down. The worst part is, I think we're going to go back. It's not the grossest meal I've ever had in Paris, and the prices are relatively reasonable. La Recyclerie gets 3 of 4 stars for atmosphere and 2 stars for food (the gluten-free desserts saved it). Go for a camion workshop, pop in for tea on your way to the flea market- but please, eat somewhere... anywhere... else. read more

Sunday brunch is a scam. 22 euros for a preset menu that amounts to a place of mushy samples of things like celery puree, mashed potatoes, red cabbage salad and runny scrambled eggs. Everything served at room temperature. Tea and coffee are included, but they are usually empty and refilling seems to extend past the time of your brunch. You pick up your own food, you clear your own table, you walk away wondering how dumb you are to have given in to such a gimmick. The building is cute, the garden and patio along the tracks are wonderful, but I have no idea where all that fresh produce is - because it was certainly not on the plates. I wish the owners would make this more of a cafe and improve the menu choices. Also - France - you know that vegetarian/vegan food can include things aside from potatoes, right? If you do go here please take one word of advice. When you look outside for a table, do not stop at first-glance. There are far more tables and these very cute little "hen houses" to sit in along the tracks on both sides. Go down the stairs and keep walking - you will be happy you did. I love the concept of repurposed architectural pieces and I love the setting along the abandoned tracks. I wish the service and menu were a bit more creative. I've only been there for brunch where you get a set menu consisting of a plate of cooked food, a plate of desert, a basket of bread and 1 hot and one cold drink. The most atypical place to have breakfast, lunch, brunch.....The room is spacious, the menu changes every day and the garden is a must see in Paris. It is a Parisian hipster paradise. I just went for brunch and for 20 euro thats pretty pricey, but the spot is cool and it is worth it for that. First and foremost if you go for brunch, put your coats down to claim a table first then go pay. It was super crowded when we went. You kind of just get a tray and they sign off on your receipt at all 4 stations. They had coffee, and juice, pain and croissants, eggs and bacon, and fruit with some sort of rice pudding. It is a lot of food, but i don't think any of it was worth what I paid. As i have said before it is the atmosphere you are paying for. The large warehouse overlooks a garden with goats and chicken running in the yard. They have a section of the warehouse where people were sewing and someone was doing woodworking. A very fun and cool vibe though i would like to try to go there for dinner or lunch to see if the food is different then. But over a great time. read more

Did the Sunday brunch for 20 eur. So effing good!!! It's not all you can eat but trust me it's more than enough food (coffee, juice, yogurt, muzli, fruit, ham, bacon, eggs, potatoes, veggies, etc). You walk to each station and they serve you set portions of deliciousness...which is great because it prevents food waste. You may have to wait 5-10 min for a seat. Also another tip, be mindful of where to put your trash and to bus your table. They're quite particular about this but don't it makes their system work and also contributes to creating their compost. Place is super casual with people of all ages, even babies. Sometimes there are some international folks. I love the farm in the back with the goats, chickens, and garden. It hovers above lovely train tracks and has huge windows for lots of natural light. I saw they have a bar and stuff going on in the evenings ...so I will be back. Worth making the trip... read more
