First time in Europe and I was a bit nervous about hotel accommodations. I had heard from several acquaintances that hotel rooms are small, old and a lot of them have no elevator. I did some research in the area I wanted to stay and based on that I got on Trip Advisor and just looked a pictures and read reviews. Unfortunately Yelp wasn't a big help in that regard. I wish more yelp travelers from the States took the time to write reviews for us to read and get informed.
I chose this hotel based on reviews I read, it is close to the main train terminal, right across from the Opera House and waking distance to many great places. When we first got there we couldn't find it, until a good samaritan must have seen I was looking around, came over and asked me if I was looking for the hotel, to which she pointed to a very small sign on the front of the building. The hotel is located on the second floor and is one of many in this building. It is more like a bed and breakfast if I had to put a name to it. There are only a few rooms and a small kitchen area where breakfast is served every morning. There is actually no front desk, there is just a desk in the corner by the door. The door is locked at night and there isn't anyone around it seems, we had a very hard time getting the card to work to open the door and another couple came and had trouble as well. The four of us took turns trying the lock until it clicked open, which was a little bit annoying and scary.
The room itself was comfortable, and clean, we had a king size bed. Unfortunately most of the space was taken by two daybeds, one by the foot of the bed and one right next to the side table. Had them not being there, the room would have been sufficiently big for us to walk around. I am sure families would appreciate this, having plenty of room for several people to sleep in, but since it was only my husband and I, they were useless to us. There was also a small desk a fridge and the bathroom was quite big considering we had heard bathrooms were so tiny two people cannot stand him them. The shower was also big water pressure wasn't the best, but water got very, very hot very fast, just the way I like it. Overall this was a pretty good mid price range hotel, conveniently located, and the people who work there were very nice and attentive. I would definitely stay here again read more
