a wonderful relatively new winery tasting room in our area. The facility itself is quite fantastic - so tastefully done, lovely picnic area with seating tastings or a small fine tasting bar. Our server was Colleen and she was fun, knowledgable and a real joy. We had a few whites and a few reds and all were good - while their El Coro Pinot was superb - we just had to take some home. Small production handled with great care - prices are on the medium high-side but well worth it. Do visit - you will not be disappointed!

    Loved their koi pond!

This was the most down-to-earth, relaxing winery experience in Sonoma! La Rochelle is very intimate, tucked away on a quiet road in Kenwood. Be on the lookout for the blue truck out front! The entrance is very unassuming. But out back, the grounds are paradise. This would be my dream backyard, with bocce ball, a lush koi pond, inviting picnic tables and a fun, friendly feel. Mamie was our amazing host at La Rochelle, and she was so much fun! She was very knowledgeable about the wines, kept the wine flowing and even let us sample some of the grapes. We tried a couple of Pinot Noirs. The highlight was the 2012 Pinot Meunier... amazing! I bought two bottles. One bottle made it about 5 hours before I had to open it. The second bottle is being saved for a special occasion. It's a really yummy wine. If you're looking for a very relaxing, laidback winery experience with great wines, look no further.

This pretty much says it all on what is going oh at LaRochelle! It Will Not Get Any Better!

This wine pretty much is it! Some Old, yet younger friend dropped this off for me. Thank you CHUCK!

Nice smaller winery. Good service. Decent wine. It was my friends bday. They let us sit at the wine club member table only. Overall, good times.

Entrance - look for the blue truck!

The history of this winery can be traced back to the 1920s, when a rich mining family moved west from Michigan and purchased the land where it sits on. The winery business actually started in the 1970s by several businessmen from the San Joaquin Valley. 50+ years later, it remains one of the more recognizable names in the NorCal wine industry. I got here with my buddy David A. and his wife at around 4:15pm. The first thing that struck me was the tranquility. I was dealing with a major protest in my city that morning, so the peacefulness was truly appreciated by me. Aside from that, nature's beauty was on full display. The sky was blue, the hills were green, and the temperature was a perfect 72F. Sarah couldn't have asked for a better day to have her wedding! The ceremony was held in a covered area near the chateau, with seating set up for 100-150 guests. After the ceremony, a pre-reception cocktail party was held in the courtyard area. After about an hour or so, the dinner reception was held under the giant palm tree. The food and service for the entire event were fantastic. From appetizers to main course to desserts, the food was well prepared and delicious. Service provided by the staff was friendly and attentive. There were a couple minor hitches during the reception, but they resolved them quickly. Chateau St. Jean is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. As a non-drinker, I don't know enough about their wine to have an opinion on their quality, but I think you will really enjoy the serene setting.

There was a tasting menu that consisted of five wines. The two wines I enjoyed were the Checkerbloom Rosé, which after tasting became my favorite rosé, and Merlot Cuvee. During this visit I didn't purchase any wine because there was another winery we were visiting for a tasting menu. At that winery I preferred one of their red wines over the Merlot Cuvee from Deerfield. However I really loved the Checkerbloom Rosé. When I came home I ordered Checkerbloom Rosé online through Deerfield. I wasn't sure when I was going back to Deerfield. As I really like their one wine I wasn't driving to Deerfield just for the Checkerbloom Rosé. About the last couple of months I've been receiving emails from Deerfield Ranch Winery about the @Rose 2023 was soon to be sold out as it was selling for $10. I'm not going to order wine that I never tasted before. Before going to Deerfield I had to check online if the Checkerbloom Rosé was still available. Apparently it wasn't. Also the @Rose 2023 wasn't $10 anymore. On a hunch I decided to go to Deerfield. I went to Deerfield last week on a Sunday. As I entered the cave I went to the cash register. One of the workers Ben approached me. I asked him if @Rose 2023 was still $10. He answered yes. I also asked if the Checkerbloom Rosé was still available. He showed me the bottle. I decided to buy the Checkerbloom Rosé. Before buying I asked Ben if I could take a sip this rosé. It was sweet. Ben replied the @Rose 2023 is sweeter than the Checkerbloom Rosé, which is drier. I decided to buy three bottles of @Rose 2023 at $10 each. There are certain wineries that have specialties. For me during my two visits at Deerfield their rosés are better than from other wineries I've tasted.

The reds were a pinot noir and zinfandel, but neither really stuck to me. For the whites, it was a sauvignon blanc and chardonnay. The chardonnay was okay but the sauvignon blanc was my favorite out of all 4. Not only does it smell sweet and fruity, but it also tastes like it! I ended up buying a bottle of it to bring home ($35 if you're not a member). Our wine was paired with 12 spreads. All of them were delicious and some were even quite unique, like the sweet pea one! My favorites were the brie, carrot, and rhubarb spreads. Not really sure if I concluded on which spread paired the best with which wine, but they were nice snacks to munch on. If you're seated outdoors, you get a nice view of the vineyard as well as some mountains. There also looked to be some pedal powered trolley, which we saw a group doing but didn't do it ourselves.
