Like everywhere else we ate in Argentina, La Rueda 1975 doesn't skimp on portions; they are extremely generous. They even started us off with a full basket of complimentary bread and butter, which was exactly what we needed after spending hours exploring the Iguazu National Park. The menu has tons of options, pasta, steaks, seafood, and more. I chose the beef ribs, which were big enough to share between two people. Stunning steakhouse you will only find if you walk 0.5 miles out of the tourist area. My wife and I were treated like royalty as we were met with a bilingual hostess. They have a great selection of beers on tap or craft beer in the bottle. The wine list was awesome. We ordered the steak, and we're not disappointed. This has to be one of the best Filet Mignons I have had. I would concur with a previous reviewer: if you really want medium rare, order medium. If you want rare, order me, a medium rare. This restaurant came highly recommended by our tour guide and locals alike, so a group of us booked a reservation for dinner. The exterior looks impressive and inside is elegant, with old school charm. There were quite a few steak dishes that sounded appetizing, including the Filet Mignon, Bife Chorizo with Malbec mushroom sauce, and Steak Filet with cheese, tomatoes, onion, seasoning, along with scalloped potatoes. I finally decided on the Steak Filet, and was quite pleased with it. The steak was on a sizzling hot plate, delightfully tender, juicy, full of bold flavor, with tasty melty cheese and fresh veggies on top. The potatoes were soft and pillowy, with cheese as well. I also got to try the other 2 dishes, which were not as good. My friend's filet mignon was originally cooked too rare, so she asked for it to be butterflied and medium well. It came back not butterflied and over cooked, so the meat was a bit too tough and not that flavorful. There was also no sauce so that added to the dryness. The steak with Malbec sauce was better, as it was quite succulent, but I wasn't a fan of the mushroom or Malbec sauce. Service was solid. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. After we received the bill, it took us awhile to figure it out because we had to count all our money (when 800 ARS pesos equals 1 USD, it's A LOT to handle). Food was all average except one dish which was very bad. The refused to admit that the cut of fish was either old or rotten. They insisted it was good and charged us. Also took 1 hour to get the food. My steak was not grilled as it was supposed to be. I think it was steamed or something it tasted weird and chewy and had a weird texture. We had a recommendation to visit this restaurant from a friend, so while in Foz de Iguazu, Brazil, we crossed the border into Argentina to try this place out. Our group consisted of six people, us, from the USA, another couple from Britain and another couple from Brazil. When we arrived the restaurant was very busy, however they seated us quickly. It took some time to get our drink order going but they were very accommodating in getting us tastes of their house wines so we could make our decision on what to drink. Service was good, they were responsive and got us all the things we requested. I ordered a rib eye steak, medium rare. When I cut into my steak, it was overdone. I called the waiter and simply asked, Do you think this is medium rare? Without question or debate it was immediately removed and replaced with a correctly cooked steak. I appreciated that there was no drama. Everyone in our party was very happy with the food, (all ordered steaks). How happy? Well, the filling day all six of us returned to have dinner again. All of us are wishing this place was a little closer to where we live! Side point, this is Jan, 2023, and the economic situation in Argentina is pretty dire. Because of their currency crisis, our American dollar was worth around $330 pesos. What did that mean for our meal? We had 6 steak dinners, bottles of wine, beers and desserts for around $100 US. The chef should be extremely embarrassed. My family and I ate here tonight after it came recommended by someone else on our tour. We placed our order, and it took around an hour before our main courses arrived. For the appetizer we got a salad with goat cheese and arugula. Every bite of arugula contained sand-- so it was clearly not washed. When we got our main dishes, my brother and dad had both ordered the Dorado. While my dad thought his dish was OK, my brother was immediately off put by a fishy taste. He decided to switch with my mom's Pacu (which I also ordered, and was good). She tried it, and was also extremely grossed out by a very fishy and maybe even rotten taste. She communicated to our waiter about this, and asked if it could be switched to the Pacu. Several other people came up to our table to interrogate us about this fish-- insisting that the chef said it was "good". We said we did not want it and they tried to pack it up for us. They told us that we would have to pay for the rotten fish, and we could not switch it for anything else. We told them to throw it away, because none of us would touch it. On top of everything, the waiter legitimately disappeared after this whole fiasco (i asked for ketchup for the fries, never came). Not sure if it is the chef or the owner's decision -- but ultimately a very cheap and bizarre decision for them to make. read more

La Rueda is highly recommended by everyone, and with good reason. The ambiance, the perfect staff, and the delicious food add up to a delightful experience. They do take reservations, but they are extremely accommodating to walk ins, which we were. We had a delightful table outside on the patio. Delicious bread and wine/beer followed quickly, and then hard choices had to be made. I was extremely tempted by the pasta, but many had told me I must try the suribi, which is a River fish similar to catfish. Rueda prepares it several ways, but I chose it with a mild butter, herb, mushroom sauce. It was delicioso, and it arrived with smooth mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies. My husband chose grilled chicken breast with veggies and potatoes. Both dishes were so good, but also so large. We did not have space for dessert, but those looked excellent. Came here for lunch while visiting Iguazu falls briefly. Loved the rustic interior and ambiance of this place. Great selection of wines and beers. Got the filet and shrimp salad. Steak was amazing and absolutely must try. The salad was alright. Staff were kind enough to wrap it up as we had to rush for flight. The steaks here are great. Cooked to order and the service is good. The ambiance is good and the music is just loud enough to hear. Make sure if you pay with American dollars that the bills are pretty much in "mint" state. Any little mark, even if made by the bank, will be rejected. This is ridiculous. I'm glad I had enough bills to make my payment. Don't waste your time paying with credit card. They give you around 485 Argentinian pesos to your $1 US dollar so it's better to pay in dollars. The plating of the food was very cheesy and did not help the dishes stand out at all. I do not recommend La Rueda 1975 at Av. Córdoba 28, Puerto Iguazú - (3370). SERVICE: The service was very slow in all aspects of ordering and receiving the food. My brother had to call the waitress to take our drinks at the beginning because nobody came to our table. In terms of the payment process, I gave them five bills of $20 and after they took time to visually inspect each bill, they came back saying that they do not accept dollars of $20, only $50 and $100. This was a false statement because I saw the group next to me paying in US bills of $20 and $1. The management is looking for new bills, and if you try to pay with dollars that do not look new, they lie to you saying that they only accept larger bills. If you go there, it is advisable to pay with VISA (do not use Mastercard) to avoid all this confusion and absurdity. Also, because VISA has a higher rate of value in terms of the conversion of US dollars to Argentinean pesos. $1 US bill equals around 800 to 850 Argentinian pesos (that may change). If you use a Mastercard to pay, you will end up paying almost double the price of your meal since Mastercard exchange value per dollar as of today is ~350 pesos per $1 US bill. FOOD: Regarding the food, I ordered my meat medium-well and it came medium-rare. My mother's meat came rare instead of medium as she specified, and my brother also had to return his meat to be cooked more. The ambiance was fine, but the tasteless food and terrible service made it not worth the time and money spent. Base in my experience, La Rueda 1975 is a low-quality restaurant that does not meet the standards of good service and food quality. It was very fresh but it lacked flavor. I've had better river fish in Cairo, Egypt. So, if you've never had river fish before you might like this one. The carpaccio appetizer was the best i've ever had. Not fatty at all and super fresh. Try it! Our neighbor table (the Canadian couple) ordered the chorizo and it looked so amazing. We visited this restaurant, located in the small town of Puerto Iguazu, for dinner. We had tried pacu and surubi elsewhere so we decided to all go for different versions of the dorado. The best version certainly was the one cooked with herbs and wrapped on foil. It was juicy, tender and flavorful. The other two were grilled and they were just dry and boring. Service was kinda slow and we constantly had to ask for things. Make sure to bring your foreign currency to pay for the bill, they give a better rate when compared to the bank or even credit cards. read more
