There were seven of us for Taco Tuesday, and from the moment we sat down, our waitress seemed irritated that she had to serve our table. We ordered quickly because we already knew what we wanted. I ordered four Birria tacos on corn tortillas ($19.00) and a michelada ($9.90). Everyone else's food came out correctly, but mine did not. The tacos were clearly served on flour tortillas instead of corn. I politely pointed out the mistake and asked for them to be replaced. Instead of correcting the order, the waitress brought back the exact same plate and looked me in the eye while insisting they were corn tortillas. They absolutely were not, and my friends confirmed the same. I refused to eat them and ended up taking them home for my daughter. What makes this especially upsetting is that this isn't just about getting an order wrong--mistakes happen. The problem is that the restaurant chose to lie rather than fix it. If this had been a customer with a gluten allergy or celiac disease, the consequences could have been serious. Serving the wrong food is one thing; knowingly trying to pass it off as something it isn't is completely unacceptable and incredibly irresponsible.

We stayed at the bar while we waited for our table, and it just so happened the 4 seats became available, so we ended up sitting at the bar and ordered our drinks and food right there. First off, Victoria is awesome!! Such a fun and friendly bartender, she honestly made the night so much more fun. She was on point with the drinks, and even made us a special, Mexican candy shots, they were delicious! We ordered a variety of food items, and each was as good as the next! We had the carb nacho, and they were delicious. They use real crab! I had the rice with rotisserie chicken, it was flavorful and so tender! Definitely would be getting that again if we go back. The restaurant is very big, and ample seating. Great atmosphere and friendly staff! If you like Mexican, this is a fantastic restaurant, and the portion sizes are very generous!

I ordered the classic marg which was 3$ and then all the tacos were also 3. I got 5 total. It was a lot but luckily I was able to bring one home. I got there around 6pm right in time for happy hour before it ended at 7. As a vegetarian, I'd honestly been avoiding this place for no real reason, but I was pleasantly surprised. The truffle mushroom tacos on the happy hour menu were excellent, along with the yuca fries and other vegetarian options. I had two tacos, two margaritas, and an order of yuca fries and let me just say, the portions are very filling. One taco would've honestly been enough. Everything was fresh and flavorful: mushrooms, roasted corn, vegan cheese, sauce, and cilantro. It really didn't need anything except maybe a little spice. Service was excellent from start to finish. The host, server, and bartender all very attentive. The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable, and for happy hour seating we were moved to the bar area, which was no issue at all. Overall, great food, great service, and a really nice spontaneous evening. Plenty of parking in the back off University, which is a plus. I'll definitely be back.

It's so good I've already gone two weeks in a row and I'm pretty sure it's about to become a regular thing for me. One of my favorite parts about this place is that the owners are actually the chefs in the kitchen, preparing all of the dishes themselves. They're incredibly friendly and even come out to chat with guests, which makes the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. The barbacoa tacos are hands down my favorite. The meat is unbelievably tender literally falling apart and so juicy and flavorful. I also tried the campechano tacos (a mix of chorizo and steak) and they were sooo good. Perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. And let's talk about their chipotle salsa... I'm obsessed. I was putting it on everything on the table. It has the perfect smoky kick and just elevates every bite. The guac and chips were good, though they didn't quite stand out compared to how incredible the tacos were. But honestly, those tacos alone are reason enough to keep coming back. Safe to say I've found my new Taco Tuesday spot . Can't wait for my next visit!

The restaurant is buried in a line of other businesses door-to-door from each other, and hidden behind shrubbery. Once you find it, you will know it. There are husband and bride skeletons on the floor in the window by the door. Once inside, we were greeted, and asked if our order was pickup. It was to go. The wonderful and very busy woman at the counter, offered the menu, but we already had one. She was busy not just taking orders, taking payments, and getting deliveries out the door, but mixing drinks, and taking care of tables! She was a one woman army! Outside looks small, and so does the inside. But the layout is done in such an effective way that it there is counter seating, and more than enough tables to host a small event. It is like a small living room that is still large enough to throw a decent party! The décor is authentically Mexican with Mexican pottery, glassware, imagery, decorations, etc. Regarding the food, it is as authentic as the décor. Chilangos Mexican Grill is not Taco Bell or Pollo Tropical! The food is made from the heart and soul not from a corporate cookbook. So if you are a fan of Mexican food, or want to try it, visit Chilangos Mexican Grill. You may have trouble finding it, but once you do, the trouble will be MORE THAN worth it!!!

Even with a reservation, it still took about 10 minutes to seat us, while walk-ins were being told the wait was 2 hours. Once seated, things only got worse. It took our waitress around 15 minutes just to acknowledge our table. We placed our drink and food order immediately, but even waters took another 15 minutes to arrive. We ordered chips and guacamole as an appetizer and waited another 15 minutes for that. The biggest issue was the food never came. We sat there for 2 HOURS and never received our meals. The table next to us was dealing with the exact same thing and kept asking their waitress for updates. Every single time they were told "10 more minutes." At one point, we were told the kitchen had prioritized takeout orders over the customers dining inside, despite multiple tables waiting over two hours for food. Our waitress was also extremely inattentive. During the entire 2 hours we sat there, she only came back once after taking the initial order. No updates, no checking in, nothing. The most disappointing part was my daughter waiting two hours for a meal she never even received. Completely unacceptable experience, especially on a holiday where they were heavily promoting the event. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place based on the service and overall management that night.
