Cheap and Delicious Authentic Mexican and Yucatecan Dishes!…read more I visited Loncheria El Amigo Casiano once a day during my most recent travels to Valladolid (November 15-18) and it quickly became one of my favourite places to eat! It is located inside the El Bazar Municipal open-air food court and plaza situated on the north side of Valladolid's central square (corner of Calle 39 and 40), in the far left hand corner from the entrance on Calle 39. They serve authentic, tasty and cheap Mexican dishes and traditional Yucatecan dishes, including things like huevos rancheros, poc chuc, tacos, cochinita pibil, among many other foods. This restaurant is very casual. You order and pay at the counter, wait for your number to be called and then pick up your food from the counter, similar to the process of ordering fast food in Canada. There are no serving staff. They are only open for lunch and every time I came here, the place was packed with people! It was definitely a popular favourite for the locals. The menu is displayed in Spanish only and the staff only speak Spanish. It was a fun challenge to practice my Spanish conversation skills! Some of my favourite things to order included the huevos rancheros, tacos, panuchos, and sopes. I also really enjoyed the refreshing aguas frescas (beverage with fresh fruit, water and sugar) and they came in a large variety of flavours. My favourites were the horchata (rice-based milky drink with cinnamon and vanilla), Jamaica (made from hibiscus flowers), sandia (watermelon), fresa (strawberry) and Chaya (a spinach-like plant that is native to Mexico). The food was excellent at this place and I highly recommend this eatery to anyone staying in Valladolid. I cannot wait to return and try many more of their tasty dishes!

We waited inside why they cooked our order. The atmosphere was cool, very trendy, clean and designed beautifully with an in door out door seating option. They had a variety of foods to choose from especially if you have allergies, like gluten, dairy free, or plant based. The burritos we got were huge! They wrap them in banana leaves and let me tell you they were crazy good! When I first saw them I was little like disappointed. I thinks because I stupidly thought the banana leaves was the actual shell of the burritos not that the tortillas is also inside the leaves. However, my disappointment quickly vanished as I took on bite. These burritos were fire!!!!!

The whole place has a very chill, laid-back vibe that makes you want to hang out for hours. The service was excellent. Our servers were incredibly nice and brought out a variety of salsas right away--THE CHIPOTLE ONE WAS THE BEST! Shortly after, our drinks arrived, followed quickly by the food. We ordered the pineapple (piña) smoothies, the chuleta & piña burrito, and the pastor burritos, and everything was outstanding! The flavor combinations were incredible. On top of everything tasting amazing, all of their food is made fresh and cooked only in fresh oils (no seed oils!), which is a massive plus. They also have great vegan and vegetarian options. Highly recommend!

I mean So fresh that a cup of pico de gallo made me realize I was pregnant! During our dinning experience-this location has an open setting so visitors of all sorts can come and go as they please! The dogs too, I mean literally we watched a dog roam in from the street pee on the gravel and trotted back off on his stroll! Like wow! Nobody acted as if this was out of the norm so just be prepared for the randomness. We were greeted with different individuals who possessed all kinds of talent and enjoyed our meal! The portions were big and the price was extremely fair! Would love to return

The music was on the loud side, but it was not impossible to have a conversation since the patio is open . The food was legit spicy Mexican style and crafted beautifully. The cocktails and smoothies were top notch and the prices were acceptable for downtown Tulum, which is a million times cheaper than something on the beach side. The only down side was that the service was slow and we had to ask for things a couple of times . I would definitely recommend it to others and come back for more!

The highlight of the entire night was the baked fig appetizer! It was gooey and delicious! We also ordered the whole fish baked in the wood fire oven. The fish of the night was yellowtail. First time to ever eat a whole fish and wow was it good! For cocktails we got the Pilar, which had the lightest hint of hazelnut, and the Emerald whiskey cocktail. It was unique, but the Pilar was better. Service was very attentive and made great recommendations. Go check this place out and try and make a reservation for the weekends.

I've been eyeing Casa Banana every night we've been here and it felt so much more chill compared to all the surrounding party restaurants. It was the perfect stop for a reset. The vibe was top tier. So intimate and cozy, and it felt really nice sitting by the fire on such a chilly night. Our server Joaquin was so friendly and attentive and took great care of us. The octopus salad was so lovely, and the Argentinian chorizo was honestly one of the best chorizo I've had. Not very spicy, served with perfectly toasted focaccia and roasted vegetables. We also loved the pickled eggplant that came with it. They brought out complimentary toast and spread when we first arrived too which was so sweet. So happy we stopped here
