Great place to stop late night to grab some gelato. Many flavors to choose from. Staff was fairly easy going, no long wait times here.
Amazing gelato in Florence wowwww hidden gem in the alleys behind the the Duomo. Everything they had was so delicious and creamy. There's a lot of gelato in Florence but this place is the best.
This wasn't a far walk from Galleria dell'Accademia. I heard good things about this Gelateria, but I didn't realize they had so many locations. The server said only one sample was allowed, so I remember trying something new and not liking it. They didn't have a list of flavors available, so you have to just look at their tins behind the glass case. This was a bit inconvenient. I got a small cup €3,20 with two flavors: strawberry and yogurt. The yogurt wasn't as tart as I expected. It was very sweet but still had the yogurt flavor. The strawberry was good. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted. No bathroom. No seating/tables. No Wifi.
Stopped by while we were waiting in line for the Duomo. There were some unique flavors to choose from and we tried the Lavender and Buontalenti. The lavender has a strong floral taste we weren't a fan of but the Buontalenti was so good.
Great Flavor, Great Location Close to many locations in Florence that people will be visiting, this gelateria is a step above the rest. Without flashing cheap gelato with unnecessary designs, the flavor and texture of the gelato shine. The gelato does not last long in the cup or the cone! Each bite is a reminder as to why gelato outshines ice cream in every way. So why the 4 stars? It is, as per usual, the price. It's closer to a touristy district, so the price is unnecessarily high for gelato. However, should you choose to stay close to tourism central, it's hard to find better than La Strega Nocciola.
My family recently got home from a 12 day Italian vacation. I ate a lot of gelato. We spent a few days in a few places. Each place had their best gelato. La Strega Nocciola was the best gelato I had in Florence. I'm not looking to spark an internet debate, I realize taste is subjective. I also know that their staff was friendly and cared about their gelato. It's a small place that passed the test of maintaining a small amount of well crafted and covered gelato for being quickly turned over to discerning customers. I had the namesake hazelnut and my favorite pistachio. It was outstanding!

Stopped in for a late night scoop of gelato. So many great options to choose from. The staff are friendly and quickly scoop their way through a crowd.
We picked to place based on reviews by fellow yelpers. It's a small place in a gangway near the Duomo, past a bigger & fancier gelato place. Unless you walk down the gangway, you won't see it. They don't have a big selection, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I agree with other yelpers about the mango gelato, it is the best! I also got the "buontalenti", kinda like vanilla hazelnut, which was also very good. Service was ok, they did expect you to decide quickly & move on. The amount they give you & prices are comparable to other gelato places, pretty standard. They're efficient, but don't expect a friendly service with a smile.
This place was really good and didn't disappoint. They didn't have my favorite (mint), but the mango was so good. We didn't love the pistachio, but mango made up for it. A huge line formed behind us, so we felt the need to rush and pick flavors with only trying a couple. Cute little shop, and I would have walked right by if I didn't head there just for Gelato. It felt very Harry Potter ish.
Nice to try something artingale. However I asked for/pointed to bergamot and got Limone (good) but clashed w/ the other. Short wait at 20-21:00. Unfriendly worker. Felt intimidated to ask to try flavors. Very small spot.
good italian gelato with a small selection but very good flavors. traditional, not 'tourist' gelato, so may be a bit disappointing to those looking for the giant piles of very colorful gelato. would definitely go back!
The best gelato I have had! It was super close to the hotel and the name and location was cute and decided to stop by and glad I did! Their gelato is tasty, not overly sweet, made with good and fresh ingredients and if you want to try, they will let you sample. They use the metal containers (which let you know it is authentic gelato) I liked it so much, that I went twice during my stay! I had the lavender and cream and the lavender with dark chocolate. My second favorite gelato in all of Italy!! This is the real deal, and its absolutely delicious. Its open late and everyone who works there is so sweet. Its right across from the duomo so its very charming inside as well. I had the bergamot and lavender flavors and they were spectacular. They were so tasty but perfectly light as well. I made it my mission to eat as much gelato as possible during my most recent trip and this spot was by far my favorite. There was a very long line and it's quite small inside. It's become somewhat of a tourist trap from all the insta influencers. Reasonable prices. Two scoops for a the small. €3.20 Pistachio and Nocciola Fresh good flavor. Whole pistachios in the gelato. No bright colors which means it tends to be more natural flavoring. read more

This gelato is the best around! It is stored in tins so you know it's authentic and home made. The service if good and the pricing is very reasonable for the amount you get. This will be the place I miss the most! read more

Stopped by for some gelato prior to going into the Accademia and split a medium cup with two others. Cash accepted. There's a couple of outdoor seating. The strawberry flavor was super tasty and refreshing. There was an Italian cookie flavor that we tried in addition to stracciatella - I liked those as well. The texture was creamy and the service was quick. read more
We've tried 4-5 gelato bars in Italy and this was the best so far. I tasted the mango, even though I don't like mango, and it tasted very fresh. The dark chocolate was fanflippintastic. So good and so very chocolatey. It was smooth and creamy. The gelatos were all in metal covered (all the lids were closed) containers and even though they didn't have as many flavors as other shops, they had a good selection IMO. Highly recommend this establishment if you're Florence. read more

I wish I'd known about this place sooner. I've only tied one other gelato in Florence and I wasn't impressed. Rome has an establishment that we went to every night that couldn't be beat. Honestly amazing. I'm particular about my food. Give them a try!! read more

Super fancy flavors!! They had lavender. The staff was lovely, as was most of the Italians we met. Wow, I love Italy!! If I can give you some advice... get gelato every day!! This is quality gelato. They also have cute merch!! read more

Had a very nice experience at this location. The staff was very helpful with explaining the shop's process (i.e., pick a cup size or cone and then pick your gelato). We ended up with cups of hazelnut/pistachio and dark chocolate/pistachio. Every flavor was delicious. We were only sorry that we wouldn't have time this trip to come back. We decided to sit on a bench facing the duomo to eat our gelato, but there was a small table and a bench inside the shop and a bench outside where customers could sit and enjoy their gelato. read more

Of course we read about this gelato online and decided to come in because it has good proximity to the "attractions" in Florence. I was generally pleased with the gelato's taste and consistency. I'm giving it a lower rating because we got a small and a medium and they charged us for two mediums. It may have been a mistake. We tipped anyway. As we walked through Florence, we saw another location and also an outpost inside Eataly. In my book, that makes them mainstream. Anyway, the gelato is good and there is a good assortment of flavors. They were helpful in that they put the flavors in both Italian and English. You couldn't judge by how they looked because everything is covered so you have to go by the description. read more
This place seems to be a favorite of locals when it comes to the best gelato in Florence. They pride themselves in using natural ingredients and you can truly taste the difference. Made each morning, the gelato isn't open for visual inspection; each flavor is in a metal container and covered with a lid to insure its freshness. You will most likely encounter a short line but it moves quickly. Florence is the birthplace of gelato, which they also refer to as "ice cream" although what Americans call ice cream is different. A fellow named Bernardo Buontalenti invented it in the mid 1500's. In the late 1960s a contest was held to invent a unique flavor of gelato to honor the inventor and so the flavor of Buontalenti was born. Very few shops serve it but this is one of those places. I ordered two scoops in a cup: Hazelnut and Buontalenti. The shop is small with only a couple seats inside so be ready to take it on the go. The Hazelnut had a sweet hazelnut taste (no hint of chocolate like you'd expect if it were Nutella) - excellent flavor. The consistency was creamy and thick. The Buontalenti, which is made with just cream, eggs and sugar had a pure cream taste. A hint of sweet cheese taste to my palate. So hard to describe. But I loved it and understood why it's a favorite of Florentines. Gelato? You won't find any better! read more

SO NOT SLEEP ON THIS GELATERIA....I REPEAT, DO NOT ALEEP ON THIS GELATERIA. This place has all the qualities of a perfect gelateria, two of those are storing gelato in metal tins and the pistachio is not bright green but more a a brownish color (which is what it's supposed to be. The consistency, creaminess, and taste of the gelato was a hug to my palate. I've tried many gelato's in Florence and I have to say that this is in mu top 3 list. If you want to have an "out of the world experience" then come here. read more

Definitely come for the lavender and pistachio gelato!! This was one of my favorite gelato places in Florence because of the variety of flavors they have. The lavender is not too strong, actually quite subtle. and pairs well with the pistachio. The pistachio flavor tastes like roasted pistachios and reminded me of Van Leeuwen's ice cream at home! We got a medium to share between the 3 of us, and this was the only place I think I could actually finish one cone by myself! read more
