The prices are a little unpredictable, some things seemed way overpriced to me, yet other more unique and rare things seemed undervalued. So: lots of fun to look through, and some very high quality recordings, old, new, re-issues, and unique new vinyl. I only checked out classical and jazz, my loves, but the other sections seemed chock full and varied. Glad that stores like this still exist.

They have a decent selection of music, but I go mostly to get tickets for shows. They sell the tickets for less than any other place in the city, not charging any fees. The clerk piled some serious attitude right on me, while I was with my baby daughter no less, and kicked us out for having the audacity to ask about a top-forty album on vinyl. It's a nice shop, beautifully designed, but unfortunately the Omega-level rudeness and condescension means I'll no longer be buying either records or concert tickets from them. Luckily L'Oblique is only a brisk walk away.

Our favorite bookstore in NDG continues to hold that title. We brought some books in, donated what…read morethey wouldn't make use of, and spent far too long roaming and acquiring books. I'm always impressed by the variety. You see something new every time you go in because they offer such an impressive collection of items. We even got hockey cards for surprise gifts for family this time around! Some items are more expensive but we got an edition of The Wizard of Oz that was still wrapped and originally worth quite the pretty penny that we will be gifting to a loved one. It was an amazing experience once again today. For the first time, I think I spent more time looking at their prints and I wanted to buy nearly every Singin' In The Rain one... Hardy Boys galore... it was overall just a lot of fun to visit this store. We'll be back for our quarterly visit in no time.

They have lots of records for 5 bucks, which is something like an old movie rental price. Even if I only listen to something once, the experience is worth 5 bucks. They also have way more expensive records, like limited editions of Tom Waits or whatever, which occasionally run closer to a hundred. So there's a huge range, if you're looking to spending a tiny bit of pocket money, or if you're looking to make a major investment for your collection. They also have books. I honestly use the library for books more than buying them, but sometime when I'm in here for vinyls, something on the bookshelf catches my eye, and the prices are fair. It is packed, though. Sometimes where there are a lot of customers, it is very hard to move around and look for things. So much stuff in a such a small space is a double-edged sword. This 5-star review is for my visits outside of peak times, for the selection, service, and price. During peak times, maybe only worth 4 stars because it's so hard to navigate. But the popularity is a sign of the quality, so it's hard to quibble with that.

Don't expect to find the rarest treasures, but best bet is that you won't walk away empty handed. It's also got a decent, English used books section, which is a rarity in the Plateau. Came here the other night to watch the new redone documentary on The Clash with a buddy of mine…read morethough it wasn't my first time here. I came in two months ago to watch another documentary on EBM music with old-timers like Nitzer Ebb and Kraftwerk. Had a fantastic time on both occasions. BBAM! Gallery is turning out to be a great little creative space that is part record/vinyl store, art gallery and sometime art-house cinema showing Montreal-premieres of music oriented documentaries. I think the next one that's coming up that I'll probably attend is one on Paul Weller's bands, The Jam and The Style Council. Montreal used to have so many of these kinds of creative spaces but with skyrocketing rents and gentrification in almost all neighbourhoods, many of those spaces are disappearing all too quickly and there's only a handful left now and I think it's vital for the city to encourage keeping these kinds of independent spaces alive, where you can watch these great movies and get a glass of wine for $5, instead of another generic, sterile corporate space that charges you $20 per glass.

What a cool place, they have books, CDs, and musical instruments all in the same store! I could spend all day here! Prices are decent, not always the cheapest I'm sure, but not enough of a difference to have me drive to best buy instead to check cd prices... Musical gear seems to be pretty standard for pricing. The staff I've delt with over the last year do not spek English, at all. I've dealt wit 4 or 5 of them. That's cool though cause they speak music...works. If I need technical info I have to look up online before I come. That's the only inconvenience for me, but relly it's helping me get better at French anyways. As far as negotiating rices, they don't seem like that kind of place, but I'm not the one to be able to judge when I can barely scrape by communicating in French. All in all, a great place. I keep going back! Take Amex too.
