Best birria tacos and quesadillas in town! Nice and crispy on the outside and stuffed with cheese and meat on the inside. Flavors are on point and not too greasy at all. Finished my meal and I'm craving for more already.

We are new to the area and wanted to try s o me authentic tacos since living in NC for 4 years…read more Loved, loved, loved the Taco Tuesday specials. Everything was fresh and tasted just perfect! The meat was cooked and seasoned correctly with no grease! We got ourselves a little sweet treat of churros and a cup of elote. Service was fast was greeted at the door and they automatically gave us a menu. I love the mix of vintage and modern farmhouse theme they have going on while staying in touch with their roots. They sell mexican deserts and have a display of mexican candy. The parking is very limited since its on main street. So do not use the parking on the side next to the post office it's for the post office workers use the other side and front street parking. They also have online ordering on their website. We are definitely coming back here again.

The place wasn't busy, maybe a couple of other tables. My husband and myself both ordered taco plates. The good: the salsas on the table. We are both huge fans of good green hot sauce and theirs is very good. I liked it a lot. The tacos were great, and my husband really enjoyed the flour tortillas which tasted homemade. Chips and salsa were tasty and we enjoyed them. Also, loved the bottle sodas. The bad: our rice was hard. It was very old rice because the color was right in it, but it was dry, crunchy, and not hot but not cold. We did ask for replacement rice and they did bring a plate out, however it was also hard...but because it wasn't done cooking (color was lighter). The beans were tasty but cold, and a smidge salty. Generally when we get Mexican food, the beans are piping hot. My husband was concerned after the rice problem that our taco meat may have been sitting out and reheated as well. Overall, I think the place has potential but needs work on service and the kitchen staff.

Birrieria Aguinaga - Birria tacos, disappointing. Hope it was just an off-night, as I would like to give this spot another chance.

And actually, it's not in the middle of "nowhere" so much as lots of rural houses but no other restaurants. Also, there's no proper bathroom, just a porta potty. *But* that was the only downside. And the restaurant was so bright and nice. I'm sure they've done all they can with a limited location/budget. Besides the main restaurant, there's a food truck next door, and I think it's all really the same owners. The latter has desserts (I got the arroz con leche), hamburgers, et al. I think they have daily specials? There was a sign in the back, but partially blocked. Like, Wed is chili relleno, Thu enchiladas, Fri fish tacos, Sat/Sun menudo? You can ask. The waitress was very friendly and competent, and I felt her English was pretty good. But I still ended up just googling some of the menu for my own understanding. When I learned they had cabeza tacos, I had to try that. If I had the room, I'd have tried the "bombapal" which looks like a lot of nopal and a lot of food overall. Curious! From FB, I saw they had a tortilla soup today ($9.80). The waitress said it was good, so I ordered it. She was right! It was really tasty. Also, she put two salsa bottles on the table, and she said one was hot, and the other was really hot ... but that they were both really hot. Lol. She was right! They were both distinct and had a very good kick. For a "hole-in-the-wall" Mexican place, this had really nice lighting and ambience (except for no indoor toilet). Everything was clean and bright. I'm curious to try all their other authentic dishes!

The picnic tables are under trees, willow tree, that was bothersome. Go to the restroom before you head over there bc the only facility is a port o'potty. There are a lot of ants so some pest control would be a good idea.

A week later and I am still thinking about the delicious food and fantastic service! We didn't wait…read moresuper long for a table and the hosts were great. We took my dad to dinner and he complained that it was a little loud, but felt like we sat right under a speaker. I explained to him that it was part of the "vibe". Other than the volume making it difficult to hear, everything was fantastic. We probably could have asked to sit on the heated patio. The chips were warm and fresh and came with both red and green salsa, and both were super tasty. My husband asked if I could make salsa like that at home! We ordered drinks and they came quickly. I appreciated the quality of the drinks especially since we mostly ordered from their drink menu. We ordered "The Good Guac" to start and our server made sure that it wasn't too spicy or anything for my dad. I thought that was very thoughtful that she asked if how it came was ok. For food we ordered street tacos, Baja fish tacos and the parillada en fuego. The food runner seemed confused and brought us another dish (maybe the Verde molcajete) but with the loud music the message that we didn't order it was lost in translation. My husband thought maybe it was what he ordered and started in. Because our server came to check on us so quickly, she caught the mistake right away. She apologized profusely and said they were bringing what we ordered. They allowed us to keep the dish, and no sooner did we have a few bites of the deliciousness the correct food came out. They checked on us quickly, apologized profusely, brought the correct food immediately, let us keep the other food, sent another manager to apologize and finally followed up with coupons to return after making sure we were satisfied with how they handled it. I understand humans make mistakes, so I feel like the recovery or response is what is important. This is the type of amazing service that will keep us coming back. We were actually happy with the mistake as we were able to try another dish we likely wouldn't have ordered (but ended up being our favorite thing to eat). The ambiance was fun, parking was easy, the wait was reasonable, the service was FANTASTIC, the food was delicious and food/drinks were made with quality ingredients. We'll be back!

The decorum is cool if you like fake plants. Though they add cool lighting, which helps. Food, well I wish I could give it five stars, but my second visit confirmed my feelings about the food. It's super spicy, and the portions for the price are crazy small. Don't count on sharing. So, if you can go during a happy hour give it a try. Otherwise, there are better places for Mexican food.
