Love the ambiance here .. feels like you're in a small, quaint Mexican town .. my go to is bean & cheese taco with Green salsa! Yes I know simple .. but morning perfection! For almuerzo, Todos las carnes son delicious .. we love the carne asada, pastor and beef fajita! We prefer the red salsa on the fajita meat but frankly it is all so good. Solid 4+ stars. Flavors are spot on. Vibe is everything you want from a true hole-in-the-wall working man's taquería. No pineapple with the al pastor and the carne asada is semi-shredded/pulled beef rather than steak (see pic). My wife went here after getting the car's oil changed. It is a hole in the wall and they accept cash and credit card, but if you use your credit card they will charge you a $.89 fee. They have a good selection of meat and very authentic. It is not your Tex Mex restaurant and reminds me back at home. One thing they do not have is the salsa bar and chips which is okay. I ordered the torta, wanted carne asada, but instead I got the shredded brisket. The torta itself was good, but the meat was very dry. I did enjoy the aqua fresco as it was nice and sweet to my liking. My wife ended up getting the tacos and it was great. I enjoyed the tongue and the buche was great. The service was good. When people move to Texas and find themselves desperate for tacos as good as perhaps California, I recommend here. It's either here or try the Oak Cliff area just around Dallas. Everywhere else makes tacos that taste the same but okay. Yet this place is noticeably different. Amazing tacos. Very much recommend. Most amazing breakfast. This is a family run establishment where many locals come to eat. In fact, you hear much more Spanish than English while you're eating. My fiancé and I were here for a wedding and after reading the reviews, we knew we had to come for ourselves! We got an assortment of tacos. My favorite was the el pastor. If you love Street Tacos and real Mexican food I would recommend this place. The owner, Ramon, is there and oversees everything. Is it fancy? No way. It is a hole in the wall that serves great food. You will see workers, families and sometimes friends. I personally really like the Al Pastor tacos. They are spicy and sometimes messy. Food is always good. read more

No joke. I come here as much as my schedule allows. I always get the Huevos Divorciados with corn tortillas, each and every time. Really solid, authentic Mexican food. I ordered some tacos for take out a few days ago and was very happy with the order. I got the pastor, carnitas, and buche. The pastor was my favorite. It had great flavor and I loved the tortillas and onion/cilantro addition. The carintas and buche were also really good, as were the rice and beans that came with it. The green salsa paired really well with the pastor, but the red salsa was also really good. My girlfriend got a chicken burrito and I enjoyed that as well! read more

It hurts my heart to write this post because the older man behind the counter was so nice. Also, I had high hopes because it was a tiny hole in the wall place in a strip mall...typically where you find those killer spots. But.....here we go. I ordered the carne asada tostada plate and my husband ordered two carnitas tacos and a carne asada torta. I don't know if I'd call this authentic Mexican. First, my tostadas were made with store bought tostada shells. My nana would roll over in her grave. Second, what I got was not real carne asada but it was like a shredded beef. It was good but salty as hell and greasy. At first I thought they just gave me the wrong kind of meat but the same meat was in my husband's torta, which his torta so soggy that he couldn't finish it. Carne asada is grilled meat, this was obviously slow cooked. He said his carnitas were ok but a little soft. All in all a meh experience which is sad because this place had such high ratings and stellar reviews. read more

This place looked like they had never mopped their floors or even used a broom to sweep. But on top of that our food was cold and we had two kinds tacos - barbaco and supposedly carne asada. Both meats looked the same neither was wha we ordered. They looked like they were made in a crockpot. how can you make carne "asada" in a crockpot! You can't! So trust me... pass on this taqueria! The tacos here are very good, the best in Rockwall in my opinion. The tacos are street style and you can get them a la cart or with rice and beans. The rice and beans are fantastic as well. I particularly like the carnitas (roasted pork) and the Al pastor (marinated pork). Their pastor is not from a trompo but still very good. They have enchiladas and tortas, breakfast, and soups. First time here for us and it was a bit confusing if we were supposed to order at the counter or sit and wait for a menu. A quick look at other reviews gave us the answer, order at counter then sit. Hole-in-the-wall Taqueria saves the day! We go here after church quite often, because it never fails to deliver great authentic Mexican food. You know you are getting real Mexican food when you are the only English speaking person in the place! Order tacos at the counter, and choose from the standard meats and sides. We prefer street tacos with onions & cilantro, and a side of beans - but the breakfast tacos are delicious too! My son Pancho loves the Tortas! Pick a drink from the case, and go sit down to watch the customers or relax! They will bring your tasty meal quickly, with silverware and sauces - and you can pay after you eat. I ordered three types of meat on my tacos (buche, lengua, and chicharron). The amount of meat on tacos were scrumptious and the owner was very friendly and nice. However the meats lacked in flavor and it was a mediocre taco overall. I wish their green salsa was the spicy and creamier kind but it was more like a watery salsa de verde (not much flavor either). With the check in offer I got the red kind of agua de fresca which tasted okay, but nothing special. It tasted like cranberry juice. I wouldn't suggest using the check in offer because the owner seemed hesitant to accept it claiming that it was from forever ago- but he was very friendly and nice about it. It was not a significant increase, and technically, they could charge full price, but to us it shows a manager who wishes not to work with the customer. I told him if he could live with it, so can I, and I won't be back.

OMG-where to start. If you are looking for actual, authentic Mexican, this is the place. From the moment we walked in, we knew this was the place. The owner went through the breakfast menu with us. I have to preface this by saying, I am pretty familiar with authentic Mexican food having spent a little over a year in Queretaro, Mexico as a child. In fact, the ranchero sauce on my Huevos Rancheros was the first sauce li learned to make there, and it was DELICIOUS!! The food was simple and real. We loved it. Everything was made fresh, including their salsa's. They had Mexican sugar, which has a slightly malted taste (Don't worry, they have regular, too) for their coffee. The service was quick and the food hot. Will be going back for lunch tomorrow to check out their lunch menu. Maybe tacos de carne asada. read more
