I love this place!…read more On a Saturday lunchtime it was heaving, though thankfully we were able to be seated straight away. Next to a blazing hot radiator. It was a fairly pleasant day in early September so I'm not convinced having the heating on full blast was totally necessary, and my sister kept accidentally catching her arm on it. That's not much of a complaint though, just an odd observation. I love the look and feel of the place, especially the drawings on the far wall. I mentioned to my sister that I thought it was affiliated with Federal in Manchester. She asked one of the staff who told her they're totally independent of each other but that the owner of Tamper helped the guys from Federal set up. This really shows in the decor, atmosphere and menu of both places. We each ordered a flat white. When they arrived they were lovely to look at, and delicious too. My sister ordered the Big Ozzie breakfast, and I ordered the smashed avocado on sourdough with poached eggs and halloumi. My dish was really beautifully presented. It came with a sweet chilli cucumber salsa, which is not necessarily something I would have chosen to go with the dish, but worked really well. My sister really enjoyed her breakfast as well. I tried a bit of the sausage patty and the hash brown and they were both delicious, really nicely seasoned. We didn't have any cake as we were fit to burst but there was a huge selection and everything looked lovely. I would definitely return and would recommend.

So very many excellent places to go in Lincoln!…read more The guys here are excellent. If you like good tea poured from great heights, good cake, people acting overly english, and terrific banter (perhaps seasoned with the odd dirt joke, shhh!) then this is certainly the plain for you. Round the side of the assembly rooms, these guys have made such an effort, to be well dressed, perfectly, Britishly polite, and filling the place with fitting and interesting trinkets, genuine, actual, real deal type people. McGreedycakepants over here *waves hands frantically* is proud and mildly ashamed to say that my mate and I were apparently the first to finish off the afternoon tea in it's gargantuan entirety- if you put good cake in front of me, I will, eat, the lot. We spent hours here, working our way through all of the sarnies, cakes and biscuity treats on the stand, accompanied by tea, silver service style, and a rather excellent camp crocodile joke that I am ashamed to say I can't remember. Your belly deserves this cake, and these excellent people deserve your custom. They also had a stand at the christmas market, they recognised me, and were lovely yet again (now that's definitely customer service) also, I must note, that they also do the best, handmade, deep filled, completely booze steeped mince pies too.

Sometimes, it's the little touches that make a real difference you know? This is one reason I like…read moreAntalya. I must confess that Turkish / Greek food isn't my favourite type, but I do like it for a change now and again. Once you are seated at Antalya and your drinks order has been taken, warm strips of a flat bread will be brought to your table, alone with dishes of olives and pickled peppers (the ones that look like large chillies, but are not spicy as such). These are free, and you can nibble on them as you decide on your order. There are a wide range of hot and cold starters, with my favourite being a 'mezze' selection...a small plate with around 8 or 10 items on it, e.g. hummous, taramasalata, some kind of bean salad, a meatball, stuffed vine leaf, a 'burek' (sort of a cheese samosa) and some other bits. Want some more free bread to mop things up with? Just ask. Main courses consist of a lot of lamb and chicken dishes, with some fish and vegetarian options too. My recommendation is the Iskendar kebab, a dish containing a mixture of meats in a tomatoey sauce, served over pitta bread. If you have room for dessert, the trolley appears to be well stocked with cakes and traditional Turkish baklava...very sweet pastry affairs, sometimes nutty, and dripping with syrup or honey. Too sweet for my tooth, but each to their own. If you decide not to have a dessert, your meal will still be rounded off by a free shot of a fruit liqueur, usually on offer is banana, cherry, strawberry, and possibly one other. Also, a plate of free fruit is served which is great to cleanse the palate, but also great as a free alternative to dessert, if you didn't fancy one of the heavy offerings from the trolley. The staff are attentive without being overbearing, and they are very friendly. One waiter overheard my brother saying how much he liked the apple tea they served there, and he went into the kitchen and came out with a pack of the stuff for him to take home. I don't know if this is a family run restaurant, but it certainly has that feel. When the bill comes, if you've had a couple of drinks then don't expect any change from a 20 if you had a starter and a main course. I never feel cheated when paying the bill here, as I do feel that the little 'extras' add a lot of value to the dining experience. The ambience is relaxed and friendly, great for couples, families or group bookings...a good all-rounder in this respect.

I really enjoyed the food here, nice authentic turkish cuisine…read more The menu is very comprehensive and the food well cooked. The staff are lovely and very welcoming. There is also a take away with nice kebabs
