I have lived in Key West for 9 years now and there are many wonderful places to eat, drink, dance and enjoy our beautiful weather..... But at The 'Da (as we locals call it) you can do it all and still be on Duval in the middle of all the action. While they have amazing food, spectacular cabaret and dazzling live entertainment at the piano bar (Deborah and Patrick are sublime), you should never miss Tea Dance every Sunday from 4-6. There is a different theme every week and as always the bartenders will take wonderful care of you (lovely to see Gina in her Gems.... You will have to go to figure that one out)! read more

Key West is known for their inclusive nature. One big family. It doesn't matter your creed, your race, your orientation; all are welcome. And this is part of the reason why I booked to stay at La Te Da. As one of the few gay establishments that is respectable, it was perfect. Located on Duval street, you will not be far from the action. La Te Da has the advantage to be an adults only hotel, so you won't have screaming children running around, jumping in the pool. My one comment, is that while it is nice and all, either the rooms need a very serious upgrade, the the price needs to be lowered as it wasn't justified. read more

Key West, a persons mind envisions what it should be, what it will be and what it could be, this is La Te Da. From the moment we arrived, we knew that this place was different in a great way. We stayed in a pool side room, although smaller than the hotel chains, it was a perfect representation of the Key West lifestyle. Right out of the books and old pictures, Chris and his staff take care of you at all costs. The wait staff, the bartenders (Cathy, Dea, Tonto (Brian the piano guy calls her) and so many more...all took it upon themselves to open this place up to great possibilities. If you are looking for the Hilton or Hyatt, this is not your place, but if you want to try something refreshing, new and have a little adventure then take the jump. The adult only atmosphere is as refreshing as the pool is on the hot days we were there. It is like an oasis that only you know about. The delicacy of the courtyard and the resteraunt area are a great blend...Do not be shy about the proximity of the pool and the eating area...It is like a blend of Hollywood in the Southern Florida Sun. Yes, it can be a little noisy in the morning by the pool, but we will all sleep enough when we are dead. As for at night, enjoy the cabaret or the bar area with a great piano guy and crowd. The french doors to your room with the brass key and the intimacy of the location is truly a Key West experience. Talking about location, One of the great things is being at the south end of Duval, you can walk to enjoy the North End festivities or cruise the mellow south. Try everything, the french toast, the complimentary breakfast or the recommended Strawberry Basil Mimosa...That should be a breakfast drink for everyone. We love this place. We've been to key west three times and are planning our wedding down there. We have recommended this place to our guests and have stayed here when planning the wedding. The staff is always friendly, and on the phone making the reservations they are great, and also very friendly. the location is perfect, right on Duval street, but on the South end where it gets a little quieter, so you can stay here and be a part of the action or recede back and relax in the comfortable rooms. My fiance is picky when it comes to beds, and he says this place has a very comfortable bed. read more

La Te Da is awesome! Came out from Northern California for Valentine's week and had never been to Key West. The La Te Da has 30 rooms, restaurant and in door and outdoor bar. The location is the opposite end of Duval away from the touristy side. Daniel checked us in and was a great host helping us to our room. The room was gorgeous! There is nightly music that begins at 8.30pm and was really fun! Will definitely return!!!! read more

We have eaten here for several days in a row and breakfast on Wednesday morning was a disaster. The server was a nice lady but had no business speaking. She said some stupid things about the restaurant. She didn't bring silverware. Didn't refill glasses. Brought the food out without having all the meals ready. Then they we're wrong. Occasionally the bar tender would help and she was great. But the server needed to be in the back washing dishes. We have like 3 of the 4 visits but this one failed. read more

Where do we begin... From the moment we called to make our reservation it was perfect! Adonis, on the phone was warm, professional & accommodating! We spoke to Matt the night before & on our way down & he was great (even remembered that I needed to have an in room fridge for my Diet Coke)! When we walked up to the property, we could see that it was special. It was beautiful & had nice people & a warm vibe. Matt checked us in in Friday & reminded us of our reservation at Santiago's. Such personal service!!! Them we met the owner, Christopher, the next day. He is simply the best!!! He made us feel like family. He was sooooop kind, so gregarious & amazingly special from the beginning, through our stay & to the end! We invited guests (locals) to Christopher Peterson's show on the recommendation of the night manager & all 6 of us had an incredible time. The show is upscale, tasteful, beautiful, funny & incredibly entertaining & really is a sin to miss!!! The "included" breakfast is more than expected at any place we've been to & very yummy. The hotel is impeccable & the entertainment is the best you will find in the keys! Don't miss the 3 sum trio in the bar, they are a party! Clare, at the front bar, is a gem that made our stay even better. Honestly, the only negative is that eventually we had to check out :(. We can not think of going back again & not staying there at La Te Da! If you want a high end & authentic key west experience, there is NO other choice!!!! read more

Just got back from another trip to Key West and stayed at La Te Da (I stayed there in January too!). This place is phenomenal. Not a single issue or complaint. Every staff member smiles and greets you. Cliff was my server each morning for breakfast and he is full of information and suggestions. He's fun, friendly and attentive. Drinks at the bar were perfect and the bartenders are always wonderful. The front desk staff is always ready to assist you. The rooms are GORGEOUS! If you haven't tried it out - PLEASE DO! You won't be disappointed! OH and they've kicked up the Sunday Tea Dance a notch by adding a VERY attractive "shot guy" who carries a tray of shots around for guests... it's a wonderful addition! read more

This hotel is in a prime location, has clean/eclectic rooms, and a to die for cabaret show! They do shows on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday's and it was such a laugh. This is our first time to Key West and I honestly think we picked the best possible place to stay. It's on the main strip called Duval St. which has pretty much everything you need/want. I would recommend anyone to stay here and will be back again some day!!!! read more

FABULOUS! This hotel could not have been better. Adorable rooms with a great little "room on the beach" feel. A great restaurant/bar with a variety of tasty treats. I didn't get to see the whold cabaret show, but one of the performers sang during dinner and was terrific. (This is, just for those who can't quite figure it out, a cross-dressed cabaret... shh! don't tell!) The staff was incredibly accomodating and pleasant. and so were the hotel cats. An added plus. There were no Spring Breakers. I don't know if that is a La Te Da policy or not - but it sure made my stay that much nicer. now if they can just track down that dang rooster that woke my hung-over butt up every morning at the crack of dawn all would be well in the world. read more

Torn between 4 and 5 stars, so I'm going to go with 5 stars with an asterisk. From the moment you walk in the place looks awesome. Every employee smiled and made you feel welcome. Check in was a breeze. Parking was easy. Great bar. Nightly entertainment. Free breakfast. Small but cool pool area. The two guys at the front desk were great answering all my questions. We had a room right off the pool. It was quite small, and kind of loud at night, but we didn't mind either. The room was so well done, and the noise was fine. We loved being right in the middle of the action. It's Key West. So why 5 stars with an asterisk? Smoking is allowed pretty much everywhere in the outside areas. (management, please correct me if I am wrong, I will retract) I get it, you are outside so you can smoke. Fine, but we had smokers to the left and to the right of our room. When we opened our door, the smoke lofted right in. Disgusting. You should designate a specific lung cancer section somewhere on property. Preferably not outside my door. Anyway, that's my review. The first thing we noticed about La Te Da is how run down it looks close-up. But the second thing we noticed is the friendliness of the entire staff which almost made up for the first thing. We felt like we had the place to ourselves for the first few days but then a large party descended and all of the pool chairs were taken and the conversations grew very loud. The hotel is small, so if you happen not to like the crowd, you are stuck. Oh, and if you are looking for a LGBT friendly place -- this hotel is defintely for you -- except in off season when 90% of guests are decidedly hetero. read more

Do not stay here if you want any sleep, rest or privacy whatsoever. These people care more about the on-property restaurant, Christopher's than they do about their hotel guests. Most rooms are just steps away from the tables of noisy diners eating in the restaurant. We were assured when we checked in they wouldn't be using the tables near our room yet night after night diners were literally 10 feet from the door and windows of our room. Sleep was impossible. The pool is also unusable unless you want to feel like a dolphin on display in front of loud drunk diners eating at the tables around the pool. This goes on from 7am to almost midnight. The one night we tried the restaurant the food was not eatable. The room itself was nice but what good is a nice room if it's too noisy to get any sleep. I can't believe how poorly hotel guests are treated compared to patrons of the restaurant. read more

We came here for brunch on a hot summer morning. The atmosphere of this place is absolutely amazing! Plenty of fans to keep you cool for the smoldering days in The Keys. We had "Cliffy" as a server, and he was hilarious! He was an awesome server that constantly kept checking back to make sure our mimosas were filled. We had the crab cake salad and the crab cake benedict, and they were undeniably delicious. Great flavor with the perfect amount of spice. Overall, the ambiance and staff were outstanding, and the service topped it all off. I would highly recommend visiting this spot for brunch. I have heard that they fill up fast in the evening due to their burlesque show. 5 stars! read more

La Te Da is an absolute hidden gem on Duval Street. Besides the atmosphere, the staff makes you feel at home and are absolutely the friendliest with an exception of some with some extra sass. Even after a mediocre show, we had a good time until after the show I attempted to ask the light guy a question and he cussed me out. Then the"star" also decided to cuss me out because it is his boyfriend. Have been to Key West five times and have been to La Te Da for the Cabaret, which is amazing, but had never stayed at the hotel. Made reservations for a last minute long weekend for my Birthday with my best friend - Won't stay anywhere else! Bartenders, wait staff, food, entertainment - everyone was GREAT Top Notch Customer Service from everyone from the initial phone call for a reservation up until they called the cab for my departure to the airport. The staff makes you feel welcome and you can see they genuinely all get along and enjoy making everyone feel welcome. As a business owner myself, I was extremely impressed to see the owner visible and interacting with his staff and the patrons. The entire staff made my Birthday Weekend such a great experience I can't wait to return to Key West so that I can stay at La Te Da Again :) read more

The moment you walk through the gates you smile, and the smile lasts till the day you leave. This hotel can't be compared to any other, there is no comparisson in the area. Christopher, the own, couldn't be more gracious on all levels. The decor is well done, with a twist, The food is outstanding, regardless of the selection. Spend time ar the outdoor bar, the people coming and going are so interesting and nice, that you can spend the day sitting and drinking. The beach is 3 blocks away. We were there for Fantasy Fest, close enough to all the madness, but far enough that you're not enveloped, unless you wish. Without a doubt one of the most fun places to go. The layout is very unique, we loved the pool in the center of the hotel next to the bar. For the price and location, I don't think you could beat it. Complimentary breakfast was very good. My wife and I stayed at the La Te Da for several days during our honeymoon at the end of June. While there can be some concern about the general conditions due to age of the building, etc... we loved it! The staff there were 100% more curteous and friendly than those you will find at the more modern and pricey places. The complimentary breakfast is outstanding and very filling! (would cost alot if it was paid for) There is wonderful nightly entertainment there, but also conveniently located on Duval St. to see and experience much that Key West has to offer. Not only would we come back to Key West, but we will definitely stay here again. The outside bar is amazing: great locals, friendly bartenders and overlooks Duval St. for perfect people watching. The rooms are clean and have all necessary amenities (tv, ac, hair dryer). These aren't luxury accommodations, but staying here is a great value. We were out and about each day and really only used our room for sleeping, showering and the occasional day time nap (it happens). The price for the room was significantly less than other hotels on Duval that we heard were not nearly as nice. The staff calls each other family, and we felt like great friends by the time we left. La Te Da calls themselves an 'adult' hotel and we understand why: Happy Hour, smoking is allowed everywhere, a clothing optional sun deck and Randy Roberts' Cabaret show. Included with the room was a complimentary breakfast- not to be confused with a continental breakfast. You pick up a voucher at the front desk every morning and have the choice of 4 delicious meals. I could not tear myself away from the hearty 'American' (eggs, bacon, toast). Starting the day with a wonderful breakfast and a full stomach was incredible. (side note: on my birthday, I ordered off the regular menu and got the Blackstone Benedict which was absolutely delicious.) The pool area is shaded with palm trees and overgrown, but in a beautiful way. You can also go up to the roof deck area and lay out there for more private sun bathing. They have entertainment at the inside piano bar every night. The crowd ranges from 20's to 60's and everyone is super friendly and outgoing. Overall good experience, my only gripe is the weak water pressure in the shower. They should fix that; otherwise great service, clean, etc.

Let me begin with the positive part of my visit at La Te Da. Eric and the rest of the staff were very friendly and inviting. The hotel itself was inviting and the all-around look and upkeep was pleasant and clean. We arrived on July 4th around 5pm. This was our first time ever to visit Key West. Upon arrival we were welcomed with a smile. Once we settled into a parking space (only street parking available) we were shown to our room. The room was located on the first floor of the hotel (house) and on one side of us was the restaurant's drink, dishes, and ice station and in front of us were the outside dining area and the outside bar. The room was set up nicely with hardwood floors and a complete tile bathroom. The wicker furniture (dresser, chairs and headboard) were not so nice. The espresso color on the headboard was scratched off which was not a pleasant sight though. Once we put down our bags we had a seat, my friend went to turn the lamp on that was on the dresser and there was a ROACH!!!!!!! YUCK! I immediately phoned the front desk, requesting another room perhaps and Eric arrived with "bug spray" in hand. Ummm okay.. So as he searched around he did find the roach which my friend had thought she hadn't stepped on but she did. So he tells us that Orkin was just there servicing them for a mouse they had trapped and was told that he had many service calls in the area. Eric stated that he had no other rooms available and that he could refund us our money if we preferred that. (Umm it is 4th of July weekend and we had driven for 7 hours and well the ability to locate another hotel without a minimum 2 night stay would be slim to none). So with much concern and then giving the benefit of the doubt and thinking well perhaps this is one isolated incident, to my dismay I elected to stay the first night. By the way Eric left the "all-natural" bug spray just in case we happen to see anymore roaches!?!?!? This is a upscale "looking" place that charged $208 a night not a hole in the wall motel. We went about our evening and took a walk down Duval Street and arrived back to our hotel with no sight of any nasty roaches. The next morning my friend was in the shower and discovered that a dead small roach was at her feet. That was it! As she looked further she seen another one and we were so degusted we found Eric and told him that we could not stay there another night. He immediately says, "I will credit you back I am sorry". As we had our bags already in hand we follow him to the hotel office to receive our credit back and also our credit back for the tickets we bought for the show they were having that evening which clearly stated no refunds on them, but because of the situation he did refund it. I was originally okay with him stating that he was going to refund me the charge for the two night stay minus $75 for housekeeping which ended up being $84.38, but the more I think about it I should have received my FULL refund!!!! This is not how an establishment of this caliber should be run nor should ANY guest have to experience this. I am sure many would agree nobody wants to stay in any establishment that is infested with roaches or even if you see "one" roach. Just the thought of it makes me want to vomit. We honestly were sad to leave, as we really did like the hotel minus the roaches. :( read more

Very nice setting. Food is rather pricy. Steak was ok, fish was better. I paid for six of us and it was $300. I didn't realize (and the waiter certainly didn't mention) that gratuity had already been added. I tipped another $60 and noticed the receipt when I got back to the hotel. I don't mind if it's added, but don't try to get extra by being sneaky/shady. This location is in the gay side of duval. The eyecons show was pretty good. Of course he did ok impressions on Friday night and wanted you to come back sat night and see all the good ones for another $30 and two drink min. read more
