Beautiful but small resort in Key West. Got the double balcony ocean front room and it's totally worth the money to see the water view and the spectacular sunset. Great central location that we technically didn't need a car. The beach was tiny but the water was crystal clear. We booked the jet ski at the resort toi and that was super convenient. This is a great location right on the water on Front street. I give it three stars because it has seen better days. It's getting tired. We came here 14 years ago. It's the exact same room, but with dirty grout, chipping tiles, and chipped paint. This place just begs for a general facelift. It's been too long since this hotel has been "touched up." The room is fine, but the furniture is showing its age. They added nice touches like cotton swabs, facial cotton pads, shower caps, and fingernail polish remover. I just wish they would tell you this before you go so that you know you don't have to carry these things with you. The outside surrounding areas also need attention. The breakfast was actually quite good and plentiful, but expensive (~$80 for two people). Shout out to Courtney Roltsch, Food and Beverage Manager, for a gracious response to a disastrous breakfast Yes, the beach is small, but this and the Pier House, I believe, are the only hotels on the Gulf side that even have a beach. That's Key West. If you want a huge beach, you can go to the Fort Zachary Taylor public beach, which is wonderful, but on the Atlantic side. I agree with the other comment that it's very sad in this day and age to see a parrot confined, although at night I did not see him. I can only hope he's allowed to fly free at times. Also, the turtles seem to have no enrichment. Even though they claim they are attended to by professionals, it's sad to see them in pools with just planks to rest on and one piece of wood to explore. This hotel rates are quite expensive and that's why I believe this hotel needs to be renovated. If you charge high prices people expect more. It's time!! They say (in the key card pouch that I read 2 days after arriving) included in the daily resort fee is a refreshment item at the pool daily. This did not happen nor did we get the Welcome Drink. They also mention you have access to umbrellas and ponchos. It was pouring when we arrived. No one mentioned those items upon arrival. I thought to ask for an umbrella and I did receive what I believe was one of only two that I saw. They also mentioned two hours of a free bike rental. I didn't see the bikes nor was I told about this when I arrived. FYI--there are two taxes added to the resort fee. This seems to be the norm these days. I don't know why the properties just don't increase the room rates as opposed to adding these fees. It's very annoying. They have added what I will call a water station. You can get flavored still or sparkling water in a reusable metal water bottle that is provided, part of your resort fee. On another note, the CVS has moved even closer to this hotel. Was a pretty nice stay at this hotel. I'm not a fan of the roosters that woke me up every night. Chickens are everywhere in Key West. Property was clean. Service was good. Also enjoyed the spa. There is a spa but you need to make reservations. They have a lot of turtles and a beautiful bird on site at the hotel. They have a Small pool area to me, but I'm used to large resort hotels. Hotel is located directly on the beach. The beach area is pretty small, but it's accessible.They have a good concierge office and you can do all types of activities like rent bikes, mopeds, a jet ski tour and more. We rented electric car and they are $90 for a 4 seater for 3 hours. Room was kept clean daily. They also have a restaurant on site that was pretty good. I had an omelette for breakfast and I was good. I had the paparadelle pasta with shrimp and it was excellent. It's one of the best hotels for Key West so I would recommend. read more

Super disappointed in our stay. While the room was clean and neat, and the service was warm and welcoming from the moment we checked in, the temperature of the room was terrible. For starters, the wall AC system had a real slow air speed so they couldn't possibly get the entire room. Cool. The area of the room was nice and cold immediately next to the AC system, but 5 feet away from it it was warmer. Secondly, what is the Fan. I think it had two speeds. Oh well barely on. I went to the front desk and requested a maintenance service call on it. When we return to the hotel, seven hours later, it doesn't appear. Anything have been done. Staying there for two nights was rather uncomfortable in the warm room. read more

This Hyatt resort is in an excellent location; right off Front street. You're at the North end where I find much more pleasant with more options nearby. Mallory Square is pretty close for the sunsets and outdoor performers, and so is famous Duval Street, where cool bars like Sloppy Joes are only a 10 minute walk. There's also Greene street with a bunch of cool shops and a nice harbor to have a drink at. The Hyatt resort itself is quite large, with a man-made beach, pool, restaurants and bars. You can really sit back and relax here, with a beautiful view of the Gulf. There is access to the water, but it looked a little dangerous to take a step down to it from the rocks. Staff here are very friendly. Everywhere we went, we were greeted with a smile. Our room was quite large with a nice big Kind Bed and huge HD TV. The bathroom was beautiful with a large walk-in shower offering high quality soap, shampoo, etc. There was a small patio with a view of the water which was nice. We were in building #3, on the west end. You really can't go wrong staying here; highly recommended! read more

What a great stay! Given the global climate, hotel stays might not be something everyone is willing to do, and truthfully, I was a little apprehensive myself, but I needed a getaway and wanted to be able to relax and enjoy myself for a few days, and The Hyatt Centric Key West was the perfect place for that. The Pros: The staff- everyone I encountered was beyond friendly. And they were actually friendly, not friendly because they had to. The property- the grounds itself are really nice. There is still plenty of seating by the pool, the hotel is a multi-building property which grants space between guests. There is an area dedicated to hotel guests that has a tiny beach area and access to the water. There is a gym and a spa as well as multiple dining options (not all were open due to COVID-19) but in general, this is what the hotel offers. The rooms: I really enjoyed the room and my partial ocean view which featured a small balcony, perfect for me to order food and sit outside in the privacy of my room and take in the views. The shower pressure from the rain shower was perfect. Location: this is a prime location for any tourist Free wifi The bathrooms were rather large Cons: Self Parking is 22 a night. I am not sure what valet was (I believe 30-something), but not necessarily the cheapest The TV only worked a portion of the time My room key kept deactivating At this point housekeeping is available if you request it. I do not believe that they will go inside of your room without consent, which overall I think is a good thing. I really enjoyed the property, the amenities, and everything in between. This property isn't the cheapest, but I really feel like you get your monies worth with this property. I'd definitely stay there again going forward. read more

We drove all day from West Palm Beach to stay 1 night at the Hyatt Centric in. Key West. Our 1-night stay was so disappointing. First off, our room. had NO view. Our room looked out to the back of one of the hotel's other buildings. We didn't expect to be put in a room with NO view! Unbelievable! Shocking in fact! How can anyone rate this a 4 or 5-star hotel? Avoid staying in a room located near the front desk office location. No view. Second, the next morning all morning long we heard the constant beeping of the mechanized lift that was pruning the palm trees on the property. The hotel had never given us a prior warning about this noise. We complained at the time of checkout. To their credit, management did give us a partial refund of the Hyatt Discoverist points we had used to pay for our brief 1-night stay. Would we stay at the Hyatt Centric in Key West again? No!!! To get a room with NO view and to experience constant noise in the morning was clearly not what we expected when we booked this hotel. Not what we expected from a "first class hotel," which it is not! The Hyatt Centric is SO VERY expensive! It is not worth it. The Hyatt Centric in Key West cost us 40,000 Hyatt Discoverist points (before the partial refund). In comparison, the Hyatt Regency in Sarasota only cost us 15,000 Hyatt Discoverist points for a 1-night stay stay. The room in Sarasota was nice and came with a great view. Even the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach is only 20,000 Hyatt Discoverist points for a 1-night stay. Why is the Hyatt Centric so expensive? Probably because it is so centrally located. It is only a couple of long blocks to Duval Street where the better restaurants are in downtown Key West. A few blocks further away in the same area is the Ernest Hemingway House. As my wife can't walk far, we actually drove our car to the tourist attractions in Key West and found parking near each location. Be aware that the Hyatt Centric Hotel is not that big a property. The pool area is small and feels confining. There is no beach to speak of. No sandy beach. Can't see children being at this hotel. Not really for children. The hotel is by the harbor. The Four Flamingos restaurant is not rated as well as other restaurants in downtown Key West. So why stay here? The main thing the Hyatt Centric has going for it in Key West is location, location, location. But is it worth the price when there are alternative decent accommodations available? We don't think so. Key West is lovely and quaint, but the Hyatt Centric is way too expensive for what one receives. Not worth the expense. We would recommend staying at another resort and driving into downtown Key West to enjoy all the sights there. Don't waste your money staying at the Hyatt Centric in Key West. read more

I want to preface my review by revealing that I didn't have to pay for my stay. It was a "healthcare hero" gift awarded to my spouse for working in NY during peak COVID. We were here for the 2021 Memorial Day weekend and I enjoyed my stay at Hyatt Centric Key West Resort & Spa, barring a few misses here and there. I want to give it a 3.5 but have to bump it to 4 because of yelp We arrived a couple hours before check-in time; the front desk and staff were kind enough to check us in and grant us access to the room. We were welcomed with a glass of chilled champagne and ice water. We got a partial ocean view room with a small balcony. Housekeeping was great, the room was very clean and our towels were replaced daily. The room felt slightly small with low ceilings and dark walls but since I didn't spend a lot of time there this wasn't an issue. I was very happy with staff except a few times at the pool side when a hotel staff stopped to confirm I indeed was a guest there (I didn't observe them doing so for others guests and felt uncomfortable); there was another similar interaction at the resort shop etc. but it didn't affect my stay. The staff at the front desk and bar were pleasant and inviting. They have complimentary coffee by the pool but it was quite awful. Instead, we walked a couple minutes to Fisherman's cafe and got delicious coffee and breakfast. We skipped eating at the resort and therefore can't comment on it. They have a decent sized pool; I felt comfortable and was able to social distance. They also have a hot tub/ jacuzzi. No complaints. It was very relaxing. They have a few reclining chairs in the back facing the ocean. We got lucky and were able to get a spot just before sunset and early morning and were able to enjoy the splendid views. Unfortunately, they also had live music on that weekend which was too loud to be relaxing... Do take advantage of their bike rental plan ($15 for 24 hours) - it is more affordable than other options but the bikes are not very well-maintained. I got a flat tire within a few hours of use and they had to give me keys to another bike. All in all, you can't beat the location and views ! It's close to all tourist attractions, restaurants and gives you access to magnificent views (from a reclining chair). We enjoyed our stay but if were to pay $700 a night I would have expected A LOT more ! read more

It's tough for a resort to do Key West but, the Hyatt does it right. I think in order to appreciate this resort you need to understand a few things about key west- beaches/sand real estate is scarce, cruise ship visits can make or break your visit and it's heavy on the water sports activists. There is truly no place like it. We arrived after a super early flight to be greeted by smiling faces who seemed genuinely happy to help. We are Hyatt globalist and tho all the benefits aren't necessarily accommodated at this type of property- especially when you book through a third party- but they were accommodating. We were able to check in early, check out late and breakfast was included. Our room had a partial water view and a tiny balcony- just enough space for the 2 of us to sit and enjoy. The room itself was spacious and super clean. There was also plenty of storage to put our clothing away. The shower had perfect water pressure and also had plenty of room. The only issue I had regarding the bathroom was the tile flooring that was incredibly slippery when wet- you almost need to line the entire bathroom floor with towels. Something unique to the Hyatt Centrics are the specialty hair dryers- the buttercup from the blow dry bar. The bed was fluffy and fitted with cooling sheets- just daring you to sleep in late. We enjoyed our breakfast at the hotel Resturant Shor pretty much every morning. The chef/cook seemed to be a big fan of the butter- while I agree it can make food just that much more yummy- it tended to be a bit too much. The breakfast options I was suggest include The egg white omelette, eggs Florentine, breakfast sandwich and the Cuban skillet. It missed the mark on the crab cake Benedict and salmon toast. The coffee was simply terrible- which is incredibly disappointing considering that key west is known for their Cuban coffee. Some afternoons we snacked at the hotels other restaurant- blue mojito- which had solid happy hour specials: 50% certain cocktails and 25% select appetizers. Unfortunately, I was unable to indulge in a mojito because they ran out of mint. The chips, salsa and guacamole were a great beach side snack. Now to get to the "beach side" and pool options. There are few options and small areas. The pool area tended to get significantly crowded and didn't have much of a breeze. There is a dock option as well as a mini sand area. All of which are equipped with nice lounge chairs and umbrellas. Also, huge perk, they have purified water stations around for you to fill up and stay hydrated. The best part of this place was for sure the location! It's in the heart of everything- you can walk to anyone of the wonderful bars, restaurants or activities. This hotel is allll about location, location, location! It is literally walking distance from almost every tourist site attraction in key west. Could not have asked for a better location! Also, do take advantage of the bike rental that the resort offers! It costs $10 to extend it to 5 pm, and $15 to extend it for 24 hours! We got around Key West via foot and bike. Plenty of bike racks everywhere to lock your bike up. Also available at Concierge service is reef safe sunscreen which i borrowed to put on before my snorkeling experience. Please help protect our beautiful environment! The room was clean and beautiful. I appreciated that they had real body wash/shampoo/conditioner in pump from a brand called Beekind. Great scents by the way! And why better than those body bar soaps that hotels normally give you. If you liked it so much, you could actually take the whole bottle and they would just charge you $20 at the end. The partial ocean view from our balcony was still beautiful. The pool is small, but honestly you're in key west, spend your time in the actual ocean! If you just want to sunbathe, there's plenty of beach chairs and lounge chairs for that too by the pool. They have jet skis run by the Fury Water Sports company that leave straight from the private resort area. The rooms were very clean, and despite the building being old, it has a very modern and clean feel. Very cute boutique hotel. Only complain was that the doors are very heavy so they end up slamming and you can hear your neighbors doors slam too. Overall, a beautiful resort and would love to stay here again. read more

It's a beautiful hotel, and the location is prime. The staff is overly polite and they try to be accommodating. The problem is they're instructed to just give you voucher for drinks at the bar if you have any sort of inconvenience. That's nice, but it doesn't really fix the problem. Oh, also, the resort fees and parking ended up costing me more that the room itself. Never really sure how they figure those out. A bit much if you ask me. read more

We have been to Key West 4 times and always stay here. We look around at other hotels but once I see anything in regards to bed bugs or cockroaches I immediately go back to the Hyatt website. Usually we just stay in the usual king bed room. This time we upgraded to a king premium and was well worth the extra money. Hugh room with a seating area and 2 balconies. Large bathroom with a walk in shower and separate toilet area. The room is well appointed pretty much all in white. The room is extremely clean and dust free. There are 3 buildings on the property and the premium rooms seem to be in building 2 facing the pool and ocean. If you are looking for unobstructed ocean view these rooms aren't it. Can't complain because they are advertised as partial ocean view. They are set back from the other 2 buildings which gives you a narrow view of the water. The food we've had at the pool was very good. They do have a waitress at the pool for drinks and food. There is a bar located near the pool that has a decent happy hour. This hotel is well situated to walk anywhere, minutes from Mallory square, Duval, fisherman's wharf etc. the area is safe walking around at night, never had any issues or have seen anything going on. The hotel itself is quiet and far enough away from the noise of Duval. The only reason I gave 4 stars is you will see some cosmetic deficiencies especially on the ground floor of the buildings. Things that need painting or nicks and dents. There were never any of these issues in the rooms that I have stayed in. Overall this is a solid choice in Key West and we will continue to stay here. read more

The Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa. A great Resort in a great location! After a long 4 hour drive from Miami, we arrived tired and thirsty. The Hyatt was ready for us. As we were checking in, they offered us either champagne or lemonade to quench our thirst, and candy to leave a sweet taste in our mouth. Check in was a breeze for us after they gave us our refreshments. Our room was on the top floor, the fourth floor. It had a partial ocean view. Even though the view was partial, it was an awesome view of Key West. Florida hotels are interesting. Most hotels have the Lobby as the first floor. In Florida, the Lobby is the ground floor. The 1st floor is reallythe second floor. Always push the "L" button if you want to get off at the ground floor. Our room came with 2 queen beds. It everything that my wife wanted in a hotel room. The room was nice. The room was nice and big. It was nicely decorated. They had a refrigerator in the room that got a lot of use. The bathroom appeared to be recently remodeled. Exactly what the wife wanted. The only complaint was with their choice of television stations. None of the the Florida hotels we stayed at allowed my wife to dream. She could not watch HGTV. They also did not have a NBCSN. I could not watch the Stanley Cup Finals. But, the bartendender at the pool area set me straight on sports. The hotel has a large swimming pool. They had a game patio near the bar, which included a reading library and a large screen tv. My daughter loved the game area. She loved playing the various games. They also had a bar with a real nice bartender. The bartender give me an important piece of advice. He told me to relax. He told me that I was in Key West, and that I should not be worrying about a hockey, basketball, or baseball. He was correct! If that is not enough for you, they also had their own private beach for you. You could lounge on one of their lounge chairs. It was nice! Bike Rental and Wave Runner Rentals were also available. Odie, the pet bird was right outside the lobby greeting everyone. They also have a turtle pond that is decorated with real live orchid plants. It was nice and relaxing watching the turtles and Odie. The hotel was within walking distance to both Mallory Square and Duval Street. It was close to all the action in beautiful Key West. Our room had 2, one by the bed and one by the seating area, they are noisy - The shower lacked water pressure - The Chaise Lounge on our balcony had a huge oil stain - There was loud construction starting early morning on the premise (which we were unaware of when checking in) Overall, our stay was disappointing, especially for the price point we were expecting a separate living room and bedroom area each with its own TV (Like the KW Westin). read more

Solid 3.75 rating but have to bump it up for Yelp... Great location, spacious rooms and the property was very clean with plenty of sprays and wipes throughout to help ward off the evil COVID virus. The staff was always "masked" up and required guests to do the same. Unfortunately, the service was hit and miss at times... overall it felt like they scaled down staffing and your experience at the front desk or bar, etc. was highly dependent on who was working. The food at the on-site Shore Restaurant was very mediocre - way overpriced and the manager and staff working at the restaurant were terrible. Don't bother. We pre-purchased breakfast for the duration of our stay and ended up getting a refund after 3-days. We really enjoyed lounging by the pool, the great ocean views and watching the sunset on the swinging chair on the dock. Absolutely gorgeous. The hotel is located next to Fisherman Village and about two blocks off of Duval as well so you're smack dab in the middle of it all... it is a short walk or bike ride in any direction to a number of restaurants and shops. Despite the scaled down staffing and our terrible experiences with Shore Restaurant, I would still recommend the hotel and plan to stay again in the future! read more

Didn't have a good first impression with this hyatt due to a receptionist that I spoke with being rude to me when asking about a potentially early check in. However, I was able to speak with a different receptionist upon check in and she was very pleasant and accommodating. The location of this hotel is awesome. Pretty much anything you want to do in key west is gonna be within a 15-20 minute walk. The room was a little outdated but that didn't bother me at all. Very nice staff and a great pool/jacuzzi. Nice hotel, well kept, rooms are nice and clean, beds comfortable (one of the main reasons I love the Hyatts), good breakfast at the restaurant on site. We enjoyed our stay and it was perfect for what we needed. My only comment would be that the room decor was minimal and more appropriate for a city with the black and red color scheme. This property is in a good location and the staff was friendly and helpful BUT ..... Based on the cost of the property and my experience at other Hyatt Resorts, I was SURPRISED and DISAPPOINTED to discover that the property was very "public". That is, there is not controlled or monitored access to the property, limiting only hotel guests access. The very small pool area was primarily comprised of drunk, non-hotel guests occupying most of the pool lounge chairs while creating a non-Hyatt Resort atmosphere and experience for paying guests. I observed the non-hotel guests being loud, rude and disrespectful to hotel guests and hotel staff. Because common area access to bathrooms at the property were limited, I also observed multiple non-hotel guests urinating in the bushes directly adjacent to the pool area. These non-hotel guests were most likely staying at less expensive properties with little to no amenities and so they were taking advantage of the amenities Hyatt property at the expense of actual, paying Hyatt guests. It would appear that Hyatt has made the decision to put revenue above guest experience by opening up their pool and pool bar area to non-hotel guests in order to generate more income. Additionally, there was no controlled access to the gym. I workout every day and observed non-hotel guests entering the property and using the gym each day. I had to wait to use equipment due to these non- hotel guests being present. Again, taking away from paying Hyatt guests experience. I totally get it. It's Key West and there's a certain vibe and experience that comes with being there however it would appear that Hyatt has invited Duval Street revelry onto their property. I would not recommend this property for the price. Stay at a much less expensive property and go here and use the amenities for free. That'll pay for your bar tab for your entire stay. read more

You can't beat the Hyatt Key West. We had an amazing stay. From the moment we arrived, it was perfect. We were greeted with a glass of complimentary champagne while we checked in. The bellman takes our luggage and that of our best friends and takes us to our rooms, WOW!! It was a birthday celebration weekend, so I booked a Deluxe Gulf Front Room for us and our friends. We were on the 4th floor, the view was amazing. Let's start with the room, we had tiled floors with rugs, so it made it quite warm and inviting. We had 3 sliding doors with 2 balconies which were furnished with nice wicker furniture and small tables. From the bed we had an unobstructed view of the gulf and the boats anchored in the bay. The room also had 2 chairs and a chaise lounge type sofa. We had a flat screen TV, a mini bar with refrigerator. The headboard to the bed ran along the wall and was a shelf with slide outs that hid and housed the ihome for the ipod and telephone. The bathroom was fabulous too, a nice rain shower that was huge and tiled in an ocean blue glass tile. We never want to leave. I had ordered an in room amenity and it was in the rooms when we arrived with a lovely card and instructions that the cold items were in the refrigerator. The service was impeccable our entire stay. We dined at the restaurant on property for breakfast once and again the service was great, dined on the patio next to the water and the food was delicious. We did use the concierge services to make a dinner reservation for us one night and they couldn't have been more helpful. She reserved a great table and then proceeded to give us recommendations on the specialties of the restaurant and which ones to try. This is someone who is familiar with the area and the restaurants and I love that. Self-Parking is available and is included in the daily resort fee, however the lot is small and we had trouble finding parking. But not to worry, the valet opened up the valet parking for us, parked the car and didn't charge us the valet charges, he got a nice tip! We loved the hotel so much that we extended an extra night, cancelled one night in Miami and savored what we could for our last night. Truly we cannot wait to go back, I wouldn't look for anything else in Key West, the Hyatt is the best! read more

We arrived today only to be put on the spot to except a "handicap " room because our room was not ready. We excepted without looking first. Big mistake. The room has an Oder of sewage coming from the shower drain, the room was as small as a European hotel room , low water pressure ,not clean . We are very disappointed and what is the worst they have a no cancellation policy. They charge 1500 per night. We are disgusted. If I could give it a minus 10 I would. read more
