This was honestly one of the few disappointments of our trip to Royal Cancun. Was it terrible? No. But there were a few little things throughout that just kinda soured our dining experience. First off, we were a large party (9 people) but we made a reservation a day in advance. They told us 8pm was the earliest we could be seated, but when we showed up, they said we'd have to wait a bit longer. It wasn't another 40 minutes or so until we were seated. Our waiter was nice, but I feel like he kinda forgot about us a few times. They also did a poor job of bringing the meals out at the same time. I appreciate them getting our kids meals out first, but the adults meals were so spread out that some of us were a quarter of the way through our meal by the time the final person go theirs. The food was fine, but nothing to write home about. It's a somewhat small menu, but I guess that's fine. Finally, because we were in the last group of eaters, by the time dessert came around, they were essentially out of everything on the dessert menu. It was basically just coffee and ice cream so that's what we have. Much like the main course, it was fine but nothing special. So, would I say avoid eating here while at Royal Cancun? Not necessarily. It was nice to have an Italian option to change things up a bit. But just wasn't anything special. It definitely wan't worth waiting an additional 40 minutes for. read more

Wow, what a treat La Trattoria was. The food was outstanding! I had the vegetarian lasagna, my daughter had the four cheese pizza, and my partner had chicken parmesan. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the wait staff are prompt and kind. We were staying at the Royal Sands and decided to utilize the free shuttle to check out this restaurant located at their other hotel, Royal Cancun. read more

The food was absolutely delicious! We all left happy, satisfied, and completely full. The lasagna was incredible--easily one of the best I've had. My daughter loved her pesto spaghetti, and my husband couldn't stop raving about the cheesy bread. Even my son, who is a self-proclaimed chicken nugget expert, said the nuggets were delicious! Interior: the utensils, the table, and the restaurant itself were all clean. Our waiter was polite and informative, and was always nearby if needed. Calamari: this was good the breading was a little too much and not enough meat. This also came with fried zucchini which was good in the sauce that accompanied it was marinara Octopus: this was diced up and served with peppers along with bruschetta bread. This appetizer was my favorite it was flavorful the peppers complemented the octopus which made it spicy. Caprese salad: this was good as well your typical caprese salad. Vegetable lasagna: in my opinion this was very bland I wish there was more flavor to it, it may have needed more salt and pepper added to the sauce or maybe a different blend of vegetables that complement each other. Seafood risotto: this was good the seafood tasted fresh, we didn't have to add a little bit more black pepper and salt to it but overall it was pretty good Carbonara shrimp pasta: The shrimp were large and flavorful the pasta was decent needed a little more flavor and a little more sauce in my opinion after we mixed it all together. Dessert Tiramisu: this was everybody's favorite Fruit custard ( forgot the name) : I enjoyed this it was not to sweet and the berries were very juicy Gelato: this was good, tasted like the chocolate Ferrero Cannoli: needed more custard and sugar added to it tasted more bitter than sweet. read more

This is a high quality Italian restaurant. I had the Chicken Parmesan, which is my go to Italian meal. I have to say, the chicken was one of the nicest pieces of meat I've had anywhere, including the old US of A. It was a substantial piece of chicken, nicely breaded, cooked to perfection. Our waiter was outstanding! Check this place out when you're in Cancun. You won't be disappointed. read more

This is an Italian restaurant inside the Royal Resort hotel on playa Linda, Cancún. We decided to try it out because it is apart of our all inclusive dining options at this resort. We are a family of nine so we ordered a bunch of different things off of their menu. To start we had calamari and steak caprese. The calamari was flavorless and came with 9 huge pieces. However, my husband really enjoyed their steak caprese, which had thin slices of steak topped balsamic vinegar and a large slice of Parmesan cheese, it also included a mixed arugula salad. My kids ordered chicken parmigiana, pepperoni pizza, chicken fettuccine and spaghetti with tomato sauce. It all looked great. A heads up that the chicken parmigiana was huge for a kid portion and if you have a kid that doesn't eat a lot I suggest having two kids split the dish. My teens ordered their calzones. My husband and I tried their garlic soup it was good. For the main course I ordered gnocchi with lobster sauce and grilled chicken. It was terrible! The gnocchi were very condense and undercooked. So I ended up getting their Tuscan chicken which was a boneless chicken thigh with a wild mushroom sauce on top with a scoop of mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. That was for me the star of the night. To top everything off we treated ourselves to some tiramisu, it was very delicious. The service was great. read more

For an all inclusive resort, I didn't have that high of an expectation for the food. However, this restaurant was mediocre and I would give it 2.5 stars. First the food: Octopus: (1.5/5) The meat itself was good but it was way too acidic and physically hurt while eating. Bruschetta: (3/5) Flavors were almost there but could use some more seasoning. The one issue I had was that the bread was on the soggy side and not as crispy as expected. Allá scoglio (?) Seafood Pasta: (3.5/5) The seafood itself was flavored very nicely but there was a strange taste to the spaghetti noodles themselves. It had that taste usually baked goods straight out of the oven have. Panna Cotta: (2.5/5) I absolutely love Panna cotta so I was pretty disappointed that the dessert I ordered didn't have its thick, creamy consistency. In fact, the dessert was too airy and seemed whipped and the berry filing was strange. Service was very slow, but overall the restaurant did the best of their capabilites. read more

Was dinning here as part of our all inclusive resort. Food was pretty good, they messed up my drink order after giving very specific instructions, and the service was extremely rude. I had the chicken parm. Definitely juicy chicken and well breaded. The side pasta left something to be desired. Service was taking plates without asking, slamming down plates, and a general go away attitude that made it hard to enjoy the place. Set your service straight and this could actually be a nice place to eat. read more

I would recommend getting the bruschetta and lasagna. I had both in my recent trip to the restaurant and enjoyed both. This is a small restaurant inside the Royal cancun and a reservation is a must. If you are coming from one of the other Royal resorts in cancun, utilize the buses they provide but ensure you allow about a half hour to get there prior to your reservation. This restaurant is one of the options while on the all inclusive package at the Royal resorts. The service was great. The staff was very attentive and polite. They only take reservations, so make sure you make one in advance. The Caprese was good, but it would've been nice if they left the Balsamico on the table. They had used it to stir up a Balsamico olive oil plate for the bread, but the bread came quite late. After we finished the caprese in fact... and it was a weird form of pita bread. They didn't present us with a wine menu, and promised to check if they had a Tempranillo in stock. They didn't, but rather than apologizing, they just delivered our second choice without comment. The pasta came out quick and was delicious. Slightly Al dente. Bolognese and Arrabiata. Both of our dishes were accompanied by a dried out piece of bread that was inedible. When the waiter shredded Parmesan on the table, they didn't even ask if it was enough, they just went away. Overall I would say service 2, food 4. read more

After reading some of the reviews we were hesitant but happy we did. We went early so there wasn't a crowd and noise was not a factor as many stated. Our waiter was Jesus and he took excellent care of the four of us. Two of us had the delicious Caesar salad, two had house salads. The bread served as a starter was the exception of yummy food. It is pita bread that was to be dipped in oil and vinegar. They need to change this to bread. Our food was very good and the dessert and coffee was tasty. The stars are based on what was promoted and what we got. More accurately stating, what they want to be and what they are delivering. The only sad part is, the place can be really good if they could just take care of the basics. Mussels came on the plate still frozen. Someone just forgot to put the microwave on for long enough to make us live out our illusion that we are getting freshly made food. My wife hardly ever complains about food but she of course had to send the appetizers back. It took them 20 mins to bring them back but this time the apps were nice and warm. The down side though, we should have just skipped that part because we believe because if that delay the food came late and cold. My wife was served cold stake, that i traded with her for the pork chops i ordered. The chop were fresh, soft and hot; but nothing out of extraordinary.The desert was off the hook. The staff was very nice. The reason for this review is mostly to give my social media input and hopefully change the experience for new guests. We came here for dinner reservations one night as part of the all inclusive package. Our party also consisted of 3 toddlers and 5 adults. The service here was fantastic. We had had a long day waking up early to catch our flight to Cancun and missing nap times so the kids were pretty warm out. The waiter made an exception and asked the kitchen to make some French fries for the kids which was very generous considering it was not on the menu. The mussels were okay. Nothing to rave about. The kids really enjoyed their spaghetti with meat sauce and i found myself picking at their food as well. I ordered the seafood pasta (not sure what it's called but it was a special) and i did not enjoy it but i did eat most of the seafood. The pasta was dry and the sauce was tossed in wine Im assuming because the flavor of the alcohol was very strong. For desert the kids had ice cream which comes in a very big bowl so i recommend sharing with the kids. However i got the tiramisu and it was pretty good minus the fact that the espresso was so strong i was not able to sleep that night. read more

One star is caused by the extremely rude waiter we had. Literally the only words he said to us were, "Hello, my name is Freddy I will be your waiter." The rest of the meal he said nothing to us at all. When he took our order he made grunting noises and hand gestures. He seemed very irritated with us. Oh well. The food was a 2.5 it was rather bland and the bruschetta was soggy. And the dining area is extremely small and they have too many tables in there. The host was the best part. Amazing restaurant with amazing food. We ended up coming to this restaurant twice. Got the mussels in white wine twice, but the second time they came a little cold, and one mussel was frozen! Still overall great. Got the pork ragu the second time I came. It was described as being mouthwatering pork with pasta on the side, ended up being a bowl almost completely comprised of pasta with a little pork on the side. Pork was not good enough to be called mouth watering and I would not recommend it all. Overall everything else was good and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone! read more

We decided to eat here at the recommendation of friends. Although the meal/ food was fine I suppose we expected a bit more for the price and difficulty in getting reservations. A restaurants atmosphere is key in our book. The place is small but lacks charm. The lighting was way too bright for evening dining. In fact the overhead table light was so bothersome we ended up shifting the table away from the glaring beam of light. Wine was excellent and the steak was perfectly cooked. We told our server we were celebrating a special birthday in our group. He said he understood and yet when dessert came there was no candle or special acknowledgment. A bit disappointed in that. In fact the next evening we went to another Italian restaurant (Limoncello). We wished we had gone there instead for the special occasion - one reason being that they sing a lovely rendition of happy birthday in Italian. My rating would be 3.5 if allowed. read more

Need reservations as its a small place. Limited drink menu but great pasta as the food was very nice. Ask your concierge to book this as one of your meals and take the bus there as very efficient. read more
