Small place not a lot of seating. Service was fast and friendly. Not many options on wine. Tried the lasagna with Bolognese. The pasta was soft and tasty. I didn't care for the bolognese part of the lasagna. The vegetarian was more expensive than the meat which didn't make sense to me. I thought the lasagne was pretty pricey in general.
This place has charm & legit prices. They took us upstairs to a nice closed room with AC. We ordered bruschetta to start. It lacked garlic but was fresh. My mistake was I asked them to create a rosé gnocchi and thought they'd put regular chicken on top but instead it was ground. i've learned over the years to order off the menu. That was my mistake. I did not enjoy my dinner. As for my friend she was very happy with her fish dish. She couldn't stop raving about how delicious it was. The staff was helpful and tentative. They serve some nice bread with olive oil to start so please be aware of that before you order a starter like we did.
We heard nothing but good news about their pizzas, but they were back ordered on their oven, so we ended up ordering pastas and salad when we went. We'll go back to try their pizzas another time. My salad would have been great had they not added "bean sprouts" to it. Alfalfa sprouts was one thing, but the flavor profile totally changes with bean sprouts.
2 nd time coming here after coming back to PDC after 1 year. homemade bread and chimichurri sauce after seating. Pasta is consistent and amazing. Had to try pizza as well this time. Also was bomb and delicious. Just look at the pictures. ALFREDO CON GAMBERRI - sauce is right, homemade pasta - yum, and right al dente. - no complaints. (I believe I had the mare e terra last time - with the mushroom -would get as well) Pizza I believe I got: SALAME PICCANTE E FUNGHI just get it. hot and melts in my mouth. not pictured - tiramsu- get it! Will be back in 2025
This place is amazing, service, food and location. I rarely try what the waiter recommends. He offered a sampler pasta plate with Lasagna, Ravioli and Gnocchi. Also has the mushroom and pepperoni pizza. The mushroom tasted fresh. Nothing I would ever expect in Mexico. Had martini's as well, coffee and desert. Everything was delicious, the coffee was strong and delicious.
I ordered two dishes: the salmon carpaccio and bacon egg carbonara. For starters, the salmon carpaccio... Everything from the bruschetta to the choice of greens was perfection. The bruschetta itself was light, airy, crunchy, and packed just the right amount of density. A very oily dish but paired with the wild arugula and finely sliced cucumber were fine choices. I unabashedly consumed the entire dish without pause and with room to spare. Next came the carbonara. It smelled incredible but also had the taste to match. It had just the right amount of sauce and seasoning, quality linguini and bacon, excellent quality everything, in fact. The entire meal was divine. I left feeling abundantly fed yet light and spruce. The restaurant ambiance is chill, airy, open, and relaxed. Cool music and minimalist decor. Definitely claimed a piece of my heart. I can't recall the last time i enjoyed Italian food so much or was inspired to write a review. This place is a true gem. Chef's kiss!
We went here for lunch. The place was so cute inside, music was nice, and the staff was great. They didn't have calamari and no lobster :( we had the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo, salmon with arugula salad, gnocchi, and ravioli. They sold slices of pizza we recommend those as well. The MARGHERITA pizza and pepperoni pizza was really good.

Amazing service, amazing food, walk in options available, waited about 10 minutes but it was worth it. The prices are great too, our meal was $50 including tip and we got a few drinks, a salad, and 2 entrees! Definitely recommend for authentic Italian food! read more

I was pretty impressed. I'm a big gnocchi fan and as such I understand that it's really really hard to find a place that gets the consistency right. Well this is such a place. All the pasta is homemade the gnocchi was incredible. read more

Cute family oriented spot, but I thought food was just ok. Good enough if you need a break from Mexican food. Service was great though, they're very nice and food came out promptly. We tried the gnocchi, a pizza and the tiramisu. read more

First, and last time here. Celebrating a birthday dinner with friends and it was so disappointing. The primary reason for the negative review is due to the poor, inept service and attitude by the staff. It took almost two hours to receive our food, and then it was mediocre at best,and very overpriced for what it was. The restaurant lacks any warmth or ambiance, as dies the staff. The one thing they did do that I liked was holding the to go items for you instead of cluttering the table with containers. But, alas, they creatively combined different people's food together instead of keeping them individually and correct. Note: the photos are better than the quality of the food. read more

The staff here was the friendliest staff we have had in any restaurant from our stay. They are very patient even when our Spanish is very little. The food is delicious as we got the margarita pizza with half Italian sausage and a salad. They serve you starter bread and chimichurri sauce to dip while you wait which was so yummy. It is a nice food pace change from the traditional Mexican cuisine places in town. The pizza was the best pizza we had on our trip and even better than pizza we have back from home! I highly recommend visiting this place as they have so many more options including pasta dishes and the service makes you leave even happier! read more

It's a few block from Hilton hotel in playa del Carmen and we'll worth the walk. A small little Italian cuisine with big pizza pie flavor . I am sure by now you know I love pizza pie . Waiters / staff are very friendly.. I guess you could drive but parking might be a issue didn't see any areas to park read more

Every time I go somewhere I try to find some great pizza. Thanks to Yelp I found La Famiglia. We ordered bruschetta with prosciutto for an appetizer and a pepperoni and mushroom pizza for our entree. The pizza was great. The crust was so thin it only had one side. The sauce was fantastic. I'd love to go back and try the pasta. read more

This has to be the best Italian in PDC. We ordered the lasagna and fettuccine Alfredo funghi. Both were delicious!! All handmade pastas in house, so they are fresh and great quality. Drank the Casa Madero V Rosé, always a reliable choice, since we tried it at Coaui Coqui Cobá. They sent us off with lemon cellos on the house, very customary of Italian dining! Amazing service, and they have reasonable prices. Would highly recommend and would come back! read more
I admit it, I came to La Familgia far from sober. After one too many tequila shots at La Quinta, I fell pray to the boracho gods dying for something of sustenance. Instead of a greasy street taco experience like I had wanted, we ended up at a place known for pizza and pasta. Anyone intoxicated loves those foods anyway, but it was far from what I had hoped for. Yet to my surprise, this place was everything I had hoped for - the various dishes we had ordered was coincidentally everything I needed to get back to reality. The staff was awesome. They tolerated my slurred Spanish and non-stop head bobbling and obnoxious laughs by pouring me countless glasses of water and checking up on my our table often. While taking our order, they would boast about their homemade pastas and infamous pizza pies as I drunkenly rolled my eyes thinking of what a mistake I had made in coming here. It was full of tourists and the place was packed. It was also a bit warm that day and this place is mainly an outdoorsy kind of feel. (i.e. the warm breeze of the evening and fresh air was typically enough). Then the food came. First came the bruschetta con crudo ($160MX), a toasted country toast with mozzarella and serrano ham. It was crunchy and surprisingly soft, balanced with the saltiness of the cheese and a hint of sweetness from the jamon serrano. Then came to the Raya pizza ($260MX), which was delightfully crispy and had so much meaty flavor with the Italian sausage, pepperoni, and ham. Despite being so meat heavy, it was a reasonably light pizza. The pasta was the real highlight. Sure, they're all "hecho a mano" but my expectations were incredibly low. The first bite of my fettuccine bolognesa ($220MX) I was hooked. This was not only delicious but I opted to finish it as slowly as possible. Somehow in the process, I had entered sobriety, and was *really* loving my food more than ever. It prompted me to also order the special of the night, which was fettuccine cooked in a lobster shell ($350MX). The chunks of lobster were evident with every bite and the flavor was off the chain. There was no exaggeration given how hungry I suddenly was. It's been a while now and I still can't shake the fact I loved this experience. This was a worthy, delicious break from my exploits of la comida mexicana, but this is truly one of the more stellar dining experiences of my time in Playa. read more

The food was tremendous! It's delicious tasting Italian food, and I'm all for it. Be warned, though, these portion sizes will have you bringing home leftovers for tomorrow. Highly recommend for any traveler on a budget. read more
