Then we ordered additional wine and our meals. My wife ordered the chicken stew which turned out to be an excellent homemade olive infused slowly cooked dish with carrots and potatoes. I ordered slow cooked meatballs in Pomodoro Sauce which was served with a bit of light cream on top, also excellent. But the best part of the meal were the small crusty hot rolls provided to not miss eating ALL the wonderful sauces of our dishes. So, the food was a resounding 5 but, we had to rate the restaurant a 4 overall due to the initial experience. That said, we would gladly return but will make reservations first. Being a Brit, I wanted to sit outside (I would have been the only one), but this was no problem and Antonio swiftly laid up a table for me. There is a pleasant view of the Garibaldi Theatre from the front terrace of the restaurant. I was pining for a good tomato salad, and boy did they deliver! So good that I snapped it and the result is in the pics attached. But this was not before I had taken their mixed antipasti - always a good way to judge the mettle of an Italian restaurant; my policy is to order the antipasti misti only to start, and if they are good, I will place an order for mains; if bad, I cash up and go. In this case, I was brought a sumptuous plate of local produce - green and black marinated olives, salami and salsicce, artichoke hearts marinated in lemon and oil, raw mushrooms, roast peppers and courgettes, melanzane grigliate con mozzarella. By the time I'd finished, I could barely manage a small portion of pappardelle with rabbit sauce. Indoors, chef was keen to know how was the food, and Antonio wanted me to see the reproduction mosaics that adorned the ceiling of the restaurant. The toilets were faultless. We saw some of the staff shaking a tree and collecting nuts . We ventured over to see what kind of nuts and they were walnuts. They dried them and cracked them and brought them to our table. There was a table outside available just as I approached the place so I was fortunate enough to not have to wait. The space inside is very small and only about 4 small tables on the outside so be prepared to potentially wait. I simply put in my order for the Pesto di Pistachio Pasta and Hugo Spritz and people watched while I waited. The spritz came quickly so I enjoyed the refreshing spritz while waiting for my pasta. When I got my order and took that first bite...pure bliss. The al dente pasta and the subtle pistachio pesto flavor was delicious. Bite after bite and sip after sip, the whole experience on that outdoor table while watching the time pass was relaxing and satisfying. As I dined, I saw more and more people come and wait and I learned they have another location very close by. The waiter would walk them over to that location if they so pleased.
