Avoid if you can! This office is poorly ventilated and very understaffed. Also there is an ancient carpet of dubious cleanliness. The people at the front desk are unfriendly and unhelpful. There is routinely a 40 min wait in a crowded, airless, small room and it is hard to get an appointment. They close sooner than their posted hours, since there's always a long, disgruntled line. The actual phlebotomists are lovely-skilled and kind.

Friendly service, no wait, efficient, and skillful. I don't know what people are complaining about!

I'm so glad that I did because this place is awesome and Sonya, who drew my blood, was so pleasant and QUICK.

I've been to this Quest twice in the past month. I've been pleasantly surprised by my experience…read moreboth times. I had to do a really large blood draw and was super nervous. The first time I went, my technician, Laura, was so compassionate and kind. The needle didn't hurt at all, although I started getting super dizzy during the draw and Laura calmly pulled out the needle, gave me water and had me put my head down to steady myself. She wasn't impatient or annoyed at all, and just kept a calm and professional demeanor. I also had zero bruising from the bloodwork, which rarely happens (compared with Labcorp where I end up with huge bruises on my arm every time I go there). The second time, Maryam was my phlebotomist and I told her I was super nervous and almost passed out the last time. She had about 15 tubes of blood to draw for me and moved me to a recliner chair which helped so much. No pain with the needle, and no bruising! And somehow I got through the whole thing without passing out and without having to stop midway. Both times there was a short wait, but at least I knew when I was going to be called and how many people were ahead of me because the names are on a screen in the waiting room. The facility is pretty stark, but it is a blood draw lab, I don't expect a whole lot more than the basics. The parking can be annoying. I would definitely come back to Quest over the other labs I've used - both of my experiences at this Quest were far more positive than Lab Corp or Sutter Health Lab.

You can't get to the Lab unless you work there (guard shack), but you can drive to the Hall of Science which has unbelievable views and is a GREAT science museum. The National Lab is one of the World's great research facilities (see my review on the Chem dept for a description of their 'shops'.) If you go to UC Berkeley in Chem or Physics, LBL (no one uses the 'National' part) is where everyone aspires to do their research. A simple example, ALL of the Elements above 92 (Uranium) were discovered here. Including 'Berkelium' (element 97). If you're a scientist (or want to be one), that says it all. (Note that there is NO 'Harvardium' or 'Standfordium').

I am currently in the process of returning my security badge to the lab. On the back of my badge there was an option to mail the badge back with postage promised for the return of the badge. When I returned my security badge to a National Nuclear Security Administration lab they mailed me an envelope to return the badge in. I did not get one from LBNL, a United States of America Department of Energy national lab stewarded by the Office of Science. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess I am not going to get reimbursed for the $4.20 it took me to mail my security badge USPS, yes that is allowed for security badges here. I mailed my badge 27 August 2021 and as of writing this review on 10 September 2021 the badge is still in transit... snail mail is not the fastest way to communicate with the lab. Two research facilities I utilized in my research were the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) and the Advanced Light Source (ALS). I also ate at the cafeteria a few times and used the shuttle to get up and down the hill to/from campus and the parking lot on Hearst by Euclid. Shuttles only ran on week days when I was using beamline 12.3.2 at the Advanced Light Source, so when I had beam time on the weekends I would park offsite and walk up and down the hill to the synchrotron. A great way to wake up on a Saturday or Sunday morning, hiking uphill to the lab. During the week I would typically ride the shuttle up and walk down the hill unless pressed for time, then I would take the shuttle both ways. Something to keep in mind if coming on a weekend is to make sure your badge works at the laboratory main security gate. If it doesn't work, then you need to have the phone number of the beamline scientist or some other lab authority/supervisor plus your badge to gain access. Myself and other researchers I knew who used facilities at the lab had various badge problems over the years to a surprising amount. It just became part of using the lab procedure, at some point something will go wrong with one's badge, just work through the problem then. No amount of double checking prevented unrelated random problems from occurring. In the end, badge problems meant access problems and having that as a back-burner stressor was a bit of a detractor from the overall experience.
