Do not go here for blood work!! I would give this place a ZERO for office management. I would need twenty minutes of my time to describe the inefficiency in this LabCorp. Just take my advice and drive fifty miles to another location before coming here. read more

i can't give below zero stars so here we go: I went to the Labcorp in Bowie, and from the moment I arrived, it didn't feel like a caring or professional place. When I tried to explain that their system wouldn't accept my second insurance and asked a few questions, the front desk staff kept telling me to sit down instead of assisting. I asked if they could call Labcorp Gambrills or my doctor to confirm a second order, but the receptionist refused. When I asked for the fax number so my doctor could send the order, she said she didn't have it, only to later reveal it was sitting right next to her on a paper labeled for public use. That level of disregard and lack of communication was disappointing and unnecessary. When it was finally my turn, I tried to clarify instructions because I have a concussion. Instead of listening or showing understanding, one of the staff members told me to "just listen" and spoke down to me, not just like I was a child, but like I was her own child she was trying to scold and discipline. When I said I wasn't feeling well and needed to end the conversation, she told me to "look for the common element," implying I was the issue. It was not only disrespectful but also deeply unprofessional. She later called me back after checking with the doctor and offered what felt like a scripted, business-style apology. By then, I had already decided I would not return. Even if my life depended on it, I would rather skip the blood draw than tolerate that kind of treatment again. To make matters worse, when I called Labcorp customer service to report what happened, the representative was also dismissive, rude, and talked over me. They did nothing to help, except make me wait a long time on the phone, to come back and yell some talk then hang up on me. It's sad that in a developed country, patients can be treated this way by people who are supposed to care for their well-being. As someone with experience in business consulting and professional development, I truly believe this location could benefit from training focused on empathy, communication, and customer care additionally to establishing better processes. From the receptionists to the phlebotomists, this is a staff marked by incompetence and rudeness I went there for bloodwork which included a urine analysis. When they failed to give me a cup, I asked for one. The receptionist dismissively told me that there was no such request on my doctors orders. I knew this was not true so I asked one of the phlebotomists to give me a cup. Without looking at my doctors orders, she refused and told me to sit down. I had been "holding it in " for more than an hour and finally couldn't wait anymore When I came out of the restroom, the phlebotomist told me that I did indeed need to have a urine analysis. She told me to drink a cup of water in the vestibule and then wait 10 minutes. But even after 3 cups of water, I was not able to provide a sample. When I finally was called to have the blood sample taken, it was the most painful blood extraction I have ever had. It hurt every second and when she was done, I had a big black and blue bruise where the needle had gone in. I have had dozens of blood tests done and has One been even mildly uncomfortable, much less as painful as the one I had today I am never going back to that lab. The staff is rude and incompetent; the office is small and cramped with not enough chairs for people to sit. In fact, about seven people were standing in the lab area, waiting to have their blood taken because there were only three chairs. And frankly, the place didn't look very clean either There are plenty of labs in my area. I will never be back to this one. read more

I only gave 1 star because you can't give zero stars. I went twice to this location and twice the front desk staff and 1 of the techs who drew my blood were so unbelievably rude!!! I thought for sure the first visit was just random. But the second visit confirmed this location should be closed!!! The two female staff at the front desk at the Mitchellville location were so unprofessional and they were talking like no one was standing in front of them. One of the female staff at the front desk even had the audacity to point to the sign above her with the supervisor's name and number and she literally said, "The number is right there if anybody wanna call to complain." Labcorp needs to shut this location down. Unprofessional. I go to a different location now and I'm much happier. read more

I am not sure why this location has such a low review. The front desk staff was so nice. I had a gentleman assist me and he was pleasant and friendly. I was called right away, they let me come earlier even though my appointment as at 1:15. I told the gentleman that I was afraid of needles and I needed someone with patience. He gave me Ms. Linda. She was so sweet, patient and understanding! I loved how she cared about my needs and put me at ease. She took her time and was very personal. Even the other ladies that were back there were very nice. I would definitely come back if I need any labs done. The only thing I would suggest is the bathroom be cleaned more often. It was filthy but because it one samples are done and ppl miss the toilet, you want that reviewed more often! read more

Save yourself the stress, drive, and horrible customer service to Veterans. I arrived early and on time for my 8:10 AM on Saturday, May 13, 2023 lab appointment. As requested, I fasted for 12 hours and arrived on time for my appointment. I was called to the back by lab tech Claudia, room #2 on the right. The greeting started pleasantly on the call of my name, and it snowballed downhill from there. As requested, I gave her my name and information and said yes, ma'am, and no. Immediately when my labs appeared on her screen, her back was turned to me. Claudia looks at her computer screen and says, "My work is cut out for me today, with an attitude." I said oh really? "Claudia said yeah, "You have a lot of tubes to be drawn." She said with an attitude, "I just drew 12 tubes from a patient earlier?" Look at all these labels. She tears off the labels and says verify your name and sign. I did as instructed. She said, "Let's get this started; which arm?" At this point, I'm a first-time patient; she seems to be already upset I'm in her lab chair. I asked, "Can I get someone else to draw my blood." As a first-time patient, I'm there to get labs for a heart check, cortisol stress levels, diabetes labs, etc. Did this interaction assist me with those critical labs? I told her this is not going well; the number of labs seems problematic. She immediately tried to apologize if it was something she said. She stated she was talking out loud. This was even worst; she verbalized what her body language had already projected from the start. Once again, I asked if I could get someone else to draw my labs. She said yeah, I'll get it all set up, and you can go back to the waiting room, and my supervisor will call you. After her apology, I thought this was not the person I wanted, sticking a needle in my arm for the first time or ever. When I went back to the waiting area to wait, I informed the patients in the waiting room the lab tech in room #2 has an attitude because she has to draw 12 tubes of blood. One customer in the waiting room said it was too early for someone to act as I was treated. I told them I was a first-time patient. On my way out, after Claudia's supervisor drew my blood, another gentleman said was the second time better. This is horrible customer service to Veterans and all patients. I came yesterday and sat for an hour after appointment time and was told I couldn't get my blood drawn because fedex had come and gone. They told me to come back first thing in the AM and they would take me first. I was the first patient to check in and was still sitting there after 5 other patients had been seen including a walk-in. Every time I come to this facility I have a bad experience and keep trying again. It's aggravating. Never again! read more

This is a review of billing procedures, sort of a heads up. If you have two insurances they only run the first. Then when your bill comes there will be a balance, you have to call and ask them to run the second insurance. They don't keep it on file, or run it unless you call and ask. I think a lot of people don't realize that, who may have Medicare and another insurance for instance. And they just pay it without knowing this. They told me 4-6 weeks for the second one to show up but I didn't have to pay the bill meanwhile. read more

Went here for bloodnwork for my baby. He was a year old. The locatuon was easy to find, parking ample and there were only 1 other person there at the time of my appt. Shanta Lee at the front desk whi did checkin, was awesome. I had already done most of the paperwork online when I made my appt so it was a breeze when I got there. So far so good. Got tonthe back within 10 mins of my arrival. Was already anxious bc thisbis my bay, you knownits gonna hurt. Its not a truly quick process and well you know ... Anyway, a Ms Marie came and look at my son, her first impression was oh he is so small. WAIT WHAT!!! Ok, really nervous now. She came over not exuding a breath of confidence that would lend me to relax me or excite or distract this soon to be prodded baby. She started with his left arm initially attempted to draw his blood but was unable to enter the vein on the left arm. She poked and twisted and pricked around trying to get into his vein. (Where is my scary face, mad face emogi when i need them). I had to stop her bc she was just hurting him. Then she had the adascity to say she can try the other arm. Ahhh, NOOO. Then she suggested we come bavk anorher day to try angin bc kods was in distress full balling tears of death by then. I fiannly got him calmed down. So Ms Shanta Lee (front desk person) with more skill, tact, and patience (and by the way at the time she too was very prego) came and assisted. She caressed his little arm (right arm now). She ON THE FIRST TRY found his vein, got his 2 bikes of blood and he was a happy camper. He was suppose to be tested for lead, and allergies. I don't know who the mistake is on but I'll add this to my review of them also (pediatrician )- they failed to check the blood for alergies. The ped says it was on the chart but I strongly doubt it. Then they wanted him to come back and have more blood taken to do what they missed. Bc they only keep the blood for a week and the ped office didn't notice that it wasn't done when the lab sent them the report. (Again my emogi - twisted mouth). Ahh NO thank you not again. Overall, the lab visit was better in the end. We had an 11am appt. Got there at 10:50am. Was in the back at 11 and out by 11:10. Thank God for Lady Lee. read more

Staff was wonderful. Steady stream of people which were all handled politely, professionally and very efficiently. Think there was 10-12 people in there and all were cycled through within minutes. My grandmother and I were not at all impressed with this location. The front desk staff were not at all pleasant. Very short with patients and not friendly at all. Now granite, it was close to closing, however, this does not justify bad treatment of patients. I heard one of the ladies say "Uhn Uhn I'm not doing that I'm about to be off." Like come on now. You are still on the clock until 4, my grandmother and I got here about 40 minutes before they closed. I get it, I am a healthcare professional as well. These ladies could have had a long work day or been experiencing something personal. But as healthcare professionals, it is our job to provide the best care possible. read more

Just a quick note. I had to take my 5. y.o. son to get his blood drawn today. He was nervous and scared. It was a quick an painless process. I scheduled my appointment online. Got confirmation and was able to wait in the car until they were ready for me. Only 1 person was in the waiting room when we arrived. I told the tech he was nervous and scared. Ms. Javita (sp?) was patient, courteous, kind and efficient. My son reported only a slight prick and did not shed a tear! I am so grateful for the pleasant experience! I was not impressed with this location. When I walked in the office 2 young ladies were in deep of there cell phones. The 2 desk clerk just was looking at me the one walked away. The clerk finally asked me did I sign in and I said no. Then she pointed to this machine where I had to signed In at. Staff was not friendly at all. 0/10 customer service is horrible. I took a sample waited for an hour only to be told very rudely after my sample that oh we don't do this here. I was directed to another site. I asked how would I know this site provides the accepted the sample the stupid nurse said verbatim "because I told you so, that's how you know". I got up and walked out before I expressed how I felt. Beware do not come here unless you want you time wasted. Also the front door to the building is locked on weekends good luck and hope you find a passerby to let you in. A Tech by the name of SHARDAY (I am still yet to get the last name after being hung up on 2x) handled my 1 year old's blood drawing as if she was an adult and not to mention she was absolutely rude and disgusting to the point where I had to contact their customer service center to file my complaint because their supervisor was not very helpful or reassuring at all. This was my first negative experience with this location and I promise it will be the last. Not everyone knows how to handle a pediatric case and she is a clear example of such a person. Nobody is gonna handle my baby and myself the way that trifling tech handled us. read more

The Iab technician did a terrible job drawing my blood. I have pain and numbness in the arm blood was drawn and it's almost been a week!

Won't ever go back to this location and I also wouldn't recommend this location to anyone. I had an appointment and was treated like a walk-in. Blood is taken in a public room instead of the normal private room. I was sat next to 3 other people and wasn't prioritized by any means. It was the most unprofessional LabCorp I've ever visited. Usually they take you to a private room away from other people and at least ask you how your day is. Small talk. Lady had zero interest in being social which make me more anxious about the experience. My blood test got back fast however based on the treatment from the employees I was worried there would be a mix up or some other problem. The experience didn't make me very confident or comfortable. Needles are common for not being people's strong suits. So the small talk I've received at other locations has helped me through it. Not to mention being in the middle of a pandemic the public room made me nervous. Zero social distancing. If you're not dead set on LabCorp I'd highly recommend the Quest Diagnostic's at this same location in the same building! read more

I had a bad experience here a few months ago (disorder, rudeness, crowdedness) and chalked it up to the staff feeling overwhelmed with the volume & possibly understaffed. Today, I came back and regret it. The person helping me took her frustration with my doctor (who sent his order incorrectly, resulting in more work for her) out on me, complaining that she didn't have time. Then when I offered to reschedule or call my doctors office to correct their error, she again stated that she didn't have time and that I may have to get stuck multiple times because I'd need to get a vial for every test. She ended up working it out, fortunately. But it was stressful for me. Add that they didn't have butterfly needles for my tiny veins. It was unpleasant. On the positive side, on both occasions, the phlebotomist was skillful (and I'm not an easy stick). So, if you want someone who is efficient and don't mind poor customer service, this place will be just fine for you. read more

Circumstances forced me to return and my 2nd trip was much better. Check In is now automated. One of the two check in stations was working, as opposed to both being broken like last time, leaving one employee to handle check in and validating insurance and drs orders.They saw me 5 minutes before my appointment time and the tech found my vein on the first try. The building is still a little rough around the edges, but it has ample parking and is clean. read more

They didn't do all of the blood work I needed done!!! Such an inconvenience and also resulted in a delay in further treatment for my health issue. The building in which it resides is VERY slick. They will lock the main entrance close to the noon closing time of the lab on Saturday to detur people so they won't have to stay overtime. But the seldomly used entrance on the opposite side of the building will be unlocked. Smh, isn't this healthcare? Aren't you supposed to be HELPING people?! That is not right. read more

I always like to start off with a complement: the Bowie LabCorp office looked clean. That's the only good thing I have to say about our visit. Last month, I took my two year old daughter to our local LabCorp to have some blood tests done. Our pediatrician had advised us to call the local office, ask for the most child friendly technician they had, and make an appointment. So I called the office and the voicemail listed another number to call to make an appointment. That turned out to be an automated voice recognition system. That design does not bode well, but there was no alternative option. After what felt like an eternity of grappling with that phone system, we had an appointment. The next day, we arrived on time for the appointment. But the receptionist ignored us. She took people as they arrived in the office, not by their appointment time. Forty-five minutes after our appointment time, we were finally called back to do paperwork. The receptionist handed it to me without giving me time to review it. I looked it over and then went back to her to question whether my two-year-old should really be the responsible party for payment should our health insurance not cover it all. As punishment for questioning her, she let the person after us take our appointment slot with the technician. When I questioned her if she was really skipping someone ahead of us because I questioned the paperwork, she just replied "yeah". Then she insisted that she was right about the two-year-old being the designated payee. Fifteen minutes later, the nurse finally arrived to take my daughter's blood. First thing she did was question the ethnicity I had checked off on our registration. It's an optional question. But I had actually, for once, filled out one option. She asked me if: "Just for the company's paperwork, do you want to add a second background for your daughter?" "What do you mean?" I asked "Well, is she mixed with anything?" She replied, looking at me with meaning. "Such as?" I asked. "Well, is she part Hispanic?" She said, looking at my dark skin. To which I replied, "Ashkenazi Jewish," with crisp emphasis on my enunciation.  "Oh, that doesn't matter" she replied. I didn't say a thing. First of all, her persistant questioning was invasive, offensive on a number of levels, and totally unnecessary. Second, I had already begrudgingly answered the question on the paperwork. Third, in medical terms, Ashkenazi Jewish has a direct relevance for phlebotomists, while Hispanic does not (as far as I am aware). But I did not point that out to her. Next, she just put the tourniquet on my daughter's left arm. She did not ask which arm I would preferred to draw blood from. So I stopped her and pointed out that since my daughter has an hemangioma on her left index finger, (the finger's bright blue and swollen to twice the normal size with a temporary VASCULAR tumor that babies often have), she might want to try the veins on her right arm instead. "This won't affect it." She said, but humored me and switched the tourniquet to stifle the VEINS on her right arm. After that, she got out four vials out preparing to take blood from my daughter. I pointed out that four vials of blood is a little bit much for a 24 pound toddler. And she said "that's just what the doctor ordered" and was prepared to blindly follow said orders. [I knew part of her assumption was false and the doctor was not aware of how much blood this combination of tests dictated, because he told me the lead test was "just a finger prick." Instead, Labcorp translated this test into a full vial of blood. ] Then the woman winked, and only filled up half of each vial, indicating that this was purely to placate me. I was that pesky helicopter parent she wished would just stop bothering her and go away soon. I know I have to be my daughter's  advocate at her young age, but this visit to Labcorp really put that to the test. I don't know what would've happened if that woman had taken all the blood she was prepared to do! I will never go back there again, and would certainly not recommend a place to others!!! read more

When they called me through at lab corp so the woman could type in my test info, instead she spent 3 to 4 minutes standing talking with another woman about where they could go to lunch. Should it be five guys? Four brothers? Further discussion ensued about which one was closer and what food they had. Finally she sat down and took my paper for me. Then she got a call on her personal cell phone and told me to hold on. Then she told me it was the po-lice and she had to go down to her car. Another woman came in and sat in for her. She started typing in my test information. A phlebotomist came up and they again started talking about lunch. Finally I was told to go back through and sit on the right in one of the phlebotomy chairs. I told the woman at the front I needed to use the restroom and she said that's fine. I did so then went back over to the chair and the phlebotomist came back. She looked at my test papers and then went and had a little consult with the front office person. Then she came back and said to me in a snarky tone did you leave a urine sample or did you flush your sample down the toilet. I told her I was not told I needed to leave a urine sample I thought I was there for blood tests. On top of that the bathroom smelled like a latrine! Really it had a horrible smell of urine to it. And What they should've said is ma'am I'm really sorry we didn't notice you had a urine test and we should've asked you to leave a sample. Instead she blames it on me for not reading all the tests on my paper that are often written in codes. She draws my blood, ends up giving me a cup for a urine sample and tells me to do it at home and bring it back to any lab corp . Just wonderful, wonderful service and a stinky smelly bathroom . I wonder what happened to the person who got the call from the po-lice? read more

This is my second or third visit to the Bowie, MD Labcorp, and I can say with confidence - this is my LAST VISIT. I did not have an appointment, but due to the location, I decided to show up early on a Friday morning. One hour later, and I still had not been called back. Why? Was it because I didn't have an appointment? NOPE. It was because they somehow SKIPPED my name on the sign-in sheet! 6 or 7 people went before me when they should not have. I know mistakes happen, however, I wasn't the only person in the waiting room who seemed unhappy with their customer service. The front desk staff is HORRIBLE. They acted as if we were burdens to them, like they couldn't be bothered with assisting us. The icing on the cake - when I was finally called back - the woman taking my insurance information - decided it was more important to call her son's school and proceed to talk to them on her cell phone while I was SITTING IN FRONT OF HER at her desk. At one point she asked me if I fasted for the blood work. I said - ARE YOU TALKING TO ME??? How would I know if she was talking to me or to her son's school on her cell phone? If you have a family emergency, place that phone call in the back away from the customers!!!! She placed the call directly in front of me while she was doing my paperwork. Completely unprofessional!!! I'm all for multi-tasking but this was unacceptable. Having blood drawn is not a pleasant experience, and dealing with the office staff didn't make it any better. Two good comments - the waiting room was comfortable with a large TV. And, the woman who drew my blood was very kind and she did a really good job. I didn't even feel the needle. She wished me a great day, and was very pleasant. This review should not reflect her. The front desk staff needs re-training on how to deal with customers in an effective manner. read more
