I cannot say enough great things about That's My Baby Ultrasound. With this being my first…read morepregnancy I have what feels like an everlasting desire to check in on my baby and watch him grow. With doctor's appointments now focusing on heartbeats and not ultrasounds, that's where That's My Baby came in. The suite is located in a medical center in Bowie on the second floor. You have to take the stairs up to get to the suite -- or at least I didn't see an elevator. When I arrived I was greeted immediately, offered a chance to use the restroom, and then escorted to the room where my ultrasound would take place. The room was very large and had the perfect amount of seating for multiple family members to attend. The ultrasound tech was very friendly and did a good job of explaining to me everything I was seeing. She was also very patient and gentle with me as we tried to get my baby to move around so we could see him from different angles. The package I booked was for a regular ultrasound, but the tech was so kind that she switched into 4D mode so I could really have a chance to see my son's features. At the end of my appointment, I left with amazing pictures of my baby (and way more pictures than originally stated in the package I chose). I will for sure be back again as my pregnancy continues to progress!

I was the only one in the waiting room. About 10 minutes after I arrived, a few employees walked in. This is interesting, as the facility starts walk-in hours at 9:00am (opening time). So now, I've already waited 10 minutes and the remaining staff are just arriving. After waiting 20 minutes (again, I'm the first arrival) I inquired about the wait. The receptionist went to find out and came back informing me it would be a bit longer. Are you kidding me??? How unprofessional- if you advertise walk-in hours from 9-4pm, then your employees should be on site and ready to start work at that time. This office does not seem to be well managed, as I experienced issues my first visit. I decided to give them another chance since I like to support businesses in my neighborhood but I will never use this imaging center again. The lack of respect for patients' time, lateness by employees, and obvious lack of effective management is disappointing. Patients deserve better.

As I entered, I noticed the waiting room was very bright and clean…read more I went to the window and was quickly checked in, then given some paperwork to fill out before I was called back. As I sat down, waiting to be called back, I noticed an underwater beach scene playing on the television. The water was clear and you could see fish. This is the closest to snorkeling that I will come. It was very pleasant imagery with soft ocean sounds. So soothing to the eyes and ears. The sound was broken by my name being called to go back. I went to the back and was asked my name and birthdate as well as a series of body medal related questions. I was given a room to change in as well as a key to lock the door. After I put on my gown it was off to the X-ray room where I was given earplugs and instructed to lay on my back on a table. A pillow was placed under my legs and what felt like a head brace was placed on my head to keep my head still. I was then inserted into what looked like a giant white tube. The test lasted about 45 minutes. While I was in the tube I heard a series of banging noises as well as what seemed like energy passing around me. After the test was done I changed my clothes and went back to the waiting room to pay my co-pay as well as receive my disc and receipt. The staff was really nice and informative. I recommend this location and would go back if I needed to.

SCHEDULING: I got a same-day appointment here, which is really great. I was going to have to wait a…read morewhole 'nother week to get an ultrasound somewhere else. Evidently, they take walk ins for x-rays, but you need an appointment for other imaging like ultrasounds and mammograms. APPEARANCES: Both the office and the staff look professional and well kept. I thought it was a little strange that the only magazines they have are Sports Illustrated, ESPN Magazine, and other sports publications. The TV was playing a poker tournament, so maybe they cater to a specific crowd? Anyhow, I definitely noticed all the sports stuff. POLICIES: They don't allow you to take any pictures or videos inside the office, which I think means they don't want you to take pictures of your own x-rays or ultrasounds. But maybe there is some other reason... The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way, was that the ultrasound technician wouldn't let me watch what she was doing on the screen. I asked if I could see, and she said there was not really anything to see... I interpreted that as her assuming I wouldn't know what I was looking at, so she didn't want to take the time to tilt the screen in my direction. Guess what, though? They're my guts and if I want to see them, humor me dadgummit! At the end, when I asked her if I could look at the images, she said the radiologist had to look at them first, and she couldn't review anything with a patient. It seems pretty ridiculous to me not to let a patient watch their own ultrasound on the screen and then not let them look at the images at the end either. I don't know if that was her own personal policy or one that the office holds to. TOTAL TIME: I walked in at 3:20 p.m. and walk out at 3:34 p.m. Very quick turnaround! OVERALL: I would come here again if I needed x-rays or other imaging. Next time however, I think I'll be more assertive asking to see my images. But overall it was a quick and painless experience.

I have always had great experiences with the technicians and front office staff for my mammograms. I have had significant issues with charges being more than quoted over the phone, incomplete communication about authorization, deductibles, and other things. However, generally speaking, they have gotten the job done. I don't like that parking needs validation and they only validate up to 1.5 hours - and some mammograms take longer with ultrasound and additional imaging. They also can be a bit short over the phone, and fail to provide context that other radiology facilities might be more inclined to include. However, I do appreciate that this location has a broad range of services available and is prompt with answering calls and attempting to answer questions. Never my first choice as there are some amazing radiologist in the area, but a lot of them have inconvenient appointment times and can take months to schedule. I wouldn't suggest parking on the street, as the police ticket cars immediately when the meter expires. The parking garage is also an issue when going for a first mammogram as they tend to take longer. For subsequent visits, they are good about getting patients out very quickly while still doing what needs to be done. Though, you may feel rushed, I do like it better this way than worrying about having to pay for going over time in the parking garage. One thing I don't like about them is that they had been charging $20 for a CD to bring back to your provider. The other radiologists that I've been to have never charged me for a CD, so I was very disappointed as my provider was shocked that the CD costs exta and she prefers the CDs to go over the findings with patients in an extended consultation with lots of visuals - she apparently needs to CD to do this effectively, so I was not able to receive the same level of detail about my treatment plan that I previously received, due to having my imaging done at Tower Radiology. I hope that they reconsider this charge. Anyway, I think it is better to know what to expect going into it. I added an extra star for convenience.
