On this visit, not only was the provider kind, like the button on her uniform displayed, but she listened to me when I told her that my doctor had requested that the vials or tubes to be filled should be done in two parts on different days if I wasn't feeling well. She did exactly that and set up notes in the system for the completion when I return. In addition, although she didn't utilize the butterfly needle, she found the vein and completed the task on first try (hallelujah; amen). I didn't take photos because they had a sign that advised against it, but these labs all look pretty much the same. It was an overall positive experience and although no one ever looks forward to returning, I am at ease with coming back.

Before arriving, I drank about 2 liters of water to help with the process, but it made no difference. As soon as I was called in, I clearly explained to the technician that I consistently have difficulty with blood draws. I told her that my right arm does not produce blood and that my left arm is very difficult. In my last three visits, I was stuck at least three times each time, and they always had to call the most experienced staff member to complete the draw. I even mentioned that during my last visit, they had to recline me with my legs elevated and use a hot pack on my arm just to get it done. Based on that history, I respectfully asked if I could be assisted directly by the most experienced technician. Instead of listening, she became defensive and insisted she knew what she was doing. She proceeded anyway and, as expected, was unable to draw blood. She moved the needle around repeatedly and applied excessive pressure, causing unnecessary discomfort, and still did not succeed. When I reminded her that I had explained this beforehand, she blamed my veins, saying they are too small and "move." She then insisted on trying my right arm, which I had already clearly refused because it has never worked. I had to firmly repeat that I would not allow it. At that point, she became visibly irritated. Only after all of this did she finally bring in a more experienced staff member, who was able to draw my blood successfully. This is not an isolated incident. It has become a pattern at Quest, and I have already reported similar experiences in previous surveys. This situation is completely avoidable. My request is simple: please document in my profile that I am a difficult draw and should be handled by the most experienced technician available. This would prevent unnecessary pain, repeated needle sticks, and stressful interactions for both patients and staff. On top of all this, the same technician added my credit card to my profile and set it for automatic charges without my knowledge or consent. At no point did she ask for my permission or explain that she was doing this. This is completely unacceptable and a serious breach of trust.

I was looking for an estimate on 17 different lab tests as I do not have insurance, and despite the office already being closed, she took the time to help me and provided the full estimate right then and there. She TYPED each 17 test code on the computer! I've honestly never experienced that level of service before. She was incredibly helpful, patient, and professional. I really wish I had gotten her name, because she absolutely deserves a raise and recognition for going above and beyond. Huge thanks to her and to LabCorp for having such amazing staff. I got to Quest this morning at 7:30 for a 7:40 appointment. I have blood work done every four…read moremonths, and during my last visit the technician took my prescriptions, scanned them in, and told me they now had them on file, so I wouldn't need to bring the physical paperwork again. When I got there today, they said they did not have my prescriptions on file. I explained what I had been told, and I had a copy at home and said go back and get it. At this point I was starving since I had to fast before the blood work. Instead of focusing on helping me and finding the scanned paperwork, the staff seemed more concerned with who had told me I didn't need the paperwork. That visit was four months ago, I don't remember the technician's name, and it's concerning that they don't have a record of who performed my last blood work. Unfortunately, Quest is one of the few options available when you need routine blood work. Going forward, I'll make sure to write down the technician's name and bring a physical copy of all prescriptions with me, even if I'm something else.

I was already anxious and was not wanting to be seen as one of those crazy, annoying customers that customer service so often has to put up with. Lesson learned, I will put up more of a fight next time. And lesson to all, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD. Also please note per attached email that they see nothing wrong in just charging your card and to get your billing info from your insurance company. In what world is that ok?
